Hi everyone,
I know I'm kind of crashing this thread but I just don't understand what beta stands for and what levels actually mean? I would love some clarification. I go for my first bloodtest on July 31st. My transfer was July 24th. Congrats to all you pregnant gals

allie17 - glad to hear that they are happy! It sounds perfect to me, so I was hoping the doctor said the same thing!

tortillachip - I don't know exactly what Beta means either, but that it's the first blood test they do to test your HCG levels to determine if you are pregnant or not - kind of like a baseline test I guess, because then they do multiple tests afterwards to make sure your HCG levels are increasing. Hi all,

Beta is short for BHCG,
BetaHumanChorionicGonadotrophin which is the pregnancy hormone produced by the placenta and one used to measure if you are pregnant, detectable in urine and in blood serum.

I had a sonogram this morning and to even the dr's surprise he saw a small sac. They even printed out a picture for me... They just called and my numbers are 1,426 the last bloodwork I had done on Monday the numbers were 158. I know i'm still not out of the woods yet, but I can't help but be excited!

I just noticed ur hcg level , wow , thats quite high in such a short time, its really doubling well. how may did u transfer, 2 ?

I am 22 days past retrieval. I had my retrieval on July 10th

Okay, so far it looks okay. To avoid confusion about when to test with the day 3 or day 5 transfers we just test two weeks post retrieval. If it was an fet the same thing. So actually you tested 13 days post retrieval so technically if you tested 14 days after your beta would be in the twenties which is still low, but not a lost cause yet. Your next level will let us know more. How is your progesterone level?
