I'm new to this, but I thought it would be a great way to get lots, and lots of info on IVF!!! This is going to be my first cycle with IVF, started birth control 4 days ago, going for sono and trial tranfer on Thrusday. Just want to talk to someone else who is going through this or has been through it. I've been looking up info on internet and I thought it would be nice to talk to other going through this.
Hi there I am new here too and have been trying to read all info as possible. I had my transfer on the 26th of July and waiting for preg test on the 6th of Aug.
The Mock Et and Hystro weren't that bad. I have a tilted uterus so if you have the same problem, I would go with a fulll bladder. It would make it much easier and less painful. My Doc was very quick and it didn't take very long at all.
I guess whatever questions you have I will surely share in what I have been through!
Hi!!! good luck to you!!!! this is a very exciting time for you!!!! I went into this not knowing anything, I was just thinking to myself... I WANT THIS DONE!!! lol, but it is a lot of work!! but I believe it is so worth it!!! I'm nervous!!!! I just want to make sure I do everything right! I have to lose 30 pounds!!! i have lost 16 so far!!!! I'm on a good healthy diet: 2-3lbs a week! so I'm happy that it's coming off!!! lol, I heard the sono doesn't take that long, but seriously the HSG for me was so painful. I have blocked fallipone tubes, I don't know if that had anything to do with the pain? I'm sure I will be getting a lot of info tomorrow, but this helps so much talking to others going through this!!! they have classes offered at the clinic, but it's a bad time for us.
Thank you and I was much like you I didn't know anything till I went through it. It all makes sense now. I was and am still nervous to this day.
the infertility issues that we have is that my husband had a vasectomy and a reversal and it was a failure. We had to move quick before his tubes sealed all the way back up. He had low sperm count and low to no mobility!! So we had to freeze three times. The day of the reteival he gave a fresh and there was ZERO in the sample.
(this is my husbands story because I was in and out)
Once in the procedure room for the retrival, the doc took out like 20 vials of fluid, the nurse was taking to vials into the lab she came back in and told the doc that there weren't any eggs. So the doc came to talk to us after I had woke up from the procedure. I was bawling and screaming I couldn't believe it there was no way, I had like 11 follicle on the right and 7 on the left. He said that he was checking my levels of Hcg to see if the medication was bad and he wanted to see the vials. So my husband went all the way back home (45 miles) to get the vials. When he got back the nurse took the vials from my Husband and was going to test to see if it was bad. Well the doc came back in to talk to us and he started asking my husband how he gave me the shot and what he did. Well my husband and I are in the Army National Guard so he was away on training so I had his mother (a RN for 20 years) give me the shot. He said well I didn't have any Hcg in my system and there was only .1 cc out of the vial (when there should have been 1.0 cc). So we were devastated we had ruined our chances and we couldn't afford to start all over.
My Doc called us that afternoon and said that he wanted to know if we wanted to try something that his office had never done. He said that the follicle should have filled back up. He said that we could try to take another shot. So we did and we were lucky to retrive 4 eggs and 2 fertilized. So we were blessed with 2 embryos and we are waiting till the 6th to see what our fate is!!!!!
They offered classes at my clinic but, my husband and I had taken so much time off work already we didn't feel we needed to go. We had a online class that helped us out just as much as being in the docs office. Have you started your shots yet? It was very hard for me the first time that I had to do it but, you become use to it and where the best place on the tummy is for you. It was way to sensitive for me under the belly button and on either side (if you can picture that)
wow!!! i haven't started the shots yet. hopefully they will fill me in more tomorrow. about the HCG SHOT, it wasn't your fault? I don't understand why that happen to you, I'm so sorry!!!that is the shot the night before the the retrievel right? see i'm LEARNING HERE, LOL. My husband has a low sperm count and low mobility. I have blocked tubes. I was so upset to hear the news that both of us were at fault. I shouldn't say it like that!!! we are dealing with it, and we are very happy to be going thru this procedure. I'm just a little nervous!!! thanks for the advice on where to give the shots. Needles don't scare me too much. I know we have an injection cladd coming up. I will keep you posted!!!! thanks again for the advice and your story:)
Sorry I haven't been back to post the internet has been acting up. Hope that everything is going well for you.
I am sorry to hear that you guys have those problems but, this is a great thing and my doc is wonderful and explains everything possible and seems like a wonderful way to help GOOD people have children. I just hope for you that you have a even better experience than I did.
This might sound a little over the top but, I wish I would have checked. If someone else is giving you the shot and they fil the syringe check their work. I am on the pregestrone shots right now and I have to do it myself and I check everything twice!! I am scared that we went thru this for not you know and it is alot of money and we only have one shot at this!! My husbands reversal was a failure so the sperm we did freeze are all we have and we were going to freeze the extra eggs I had and do the FET but, now we have no eggs. So we would have to start all over and we just can't afford that!!
I am trying to hold out on buying a preg test. I will have my blood draw on Wed and then again on Fri. I have been doing good but, I just want to know so bad you know!!! I went grocery shopping friday and went down the aisle like three times going to get one. My husband tells me it is just going to disappoint me if it is neg and I could stil be preg. and the Doc said don't take one because it may come back positive because of the HCG in my system from the shot!!
I know I ramble sorry!! If you have any questions let me know I will do my best I know there are women here that know a lot more than me but, I can try!!
Don't you think for a second I don't value your opinion or any of your advice!!! it helps me out sooo much. I know what you mean about double checking things!!!! i'm a worry wart!!!!! ABOUT EVERTHING!!! LOL, I wish you the best of luck, try not to worry too much. I would probably be going crazy too, wondering!!!! let me know what happens. The trial transfer, and sono went great!!!! question: are you ususally on the BC for a month, before starting shots?
I went to the sticky to see what you meant about BC and found maybe Birth Control?
I haven't been on birth control for 2 years. My doc told us that once we started the shots he DID NOT want us to get preg so we needed to be very safe! If that makes sense with out to much detail!
If this isn't what you mean let me know! I will definatley let you know what is going on when I find out!!!
