Hi ladies. Good to here that everyone is still hanging in there.

Things have finally started to guiet down for me. I am out of work on bedrest right now which is pretty hard. My boss is actually allowing me to work from home so that saves me some leave until the actual deliver. This is nice because when I get up I don't have to get ready for work. I usually get up and turn my computer on and go for it (still in PJs). My doc said if the baby holds of until after week 35, he'll allow me to go back after that. He feels that the baby will be safe if delivered after 35 weeks without needed much medical care.

They gave me the shot to help mature her lungs when they thought I was ready to deliver so I think she has a plus up in that area.

Not back to the doctors until Friday the 8th so hopefully the upcoming week will be a good one.

All of you girls take it easy and stay cool. This heat is something else so I've just been indoors and it's driving me nuts. My DH and I do plan to go out for a little while tomorrow just to get me out of the house. I'm looking forward to that.

Is there someone here who know everyone's due dates. Let's put together a list of dates and try to stay a bit more intuned these last few weeks. Please add on to the list and keep it going until we have ll our dates populated.

washingtonda - September 19th (via C-Section)
Me, 40 - DH, 47
IVF #1: POSITIVE - Michaela born 9/19/08
IVF #2: Consult on 10/13/09 - Start BCP Dec since clinic will be closed for the Holiday.

Good idea WashingtonDa,
Let's collect due dates! My due date is Sept. 19 too.

I'm sorry to hear you're finding bedrest tough. I do imagine it would be psychologically challenging. It's great your doc will let you go back to work at week 35. A friend had her baby early at week 34 and he ended up being 5 1/2 pounds (with premies they are less worried if they are 5 pounds or heavier) and from the get go was able to breathe on his own. She was really lucky.
Now her baby - a month later - is 7 pounds and doing swimmingly.

Happy weekend, LostGirl

Hi Ladies,
I guess there are four of us left in this thread. My due date is September 7th.

washingtonda,
Sorry to hear about your bed rest, but the most important is the baby is doing fine! Keep thinking of it and time will go fast.

CT_Michele,
I have been at my OB office today. I was told the next appointment they'll do Strep. B test also. It will be next Friday, so I am one day following you :)

LostGirl,
I am also going to stop working a week before my DD; although, you never know if the baby decides to appear earlier. Sorry about your tooth. I had one of my teeth cheeped a couple months ago. I didn't want to loose the whole tooth, so I went to my dentist. I told him that I was pregnant (about 5 months), and refused to do x-ray. So he made just regular photos to send a claim to insurance company.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Hey ladies,

I have added my due date. I put it as september 4th since that is what my ob is using as a due date. My ticker is set up as sept. 1 since that was my original calculated due date according to IVF from my RE. During one of my earlier u/s the baby measured small, so I think they pushed the due date back a few days, but since then I think the baby's weight has caught up, but the dates are only a few days apart so I don't think it makes much difference. Also, I have had a date in my head that I think everything will happen...that date is Aug. 30...I just have a feeling for some reason, so we will see what happens.

This past week has been crazy and exhausting. Yesterday was my brothers wedding that I was maid of honor for. Of course everyone said I looked beautiful, but I felt huge. At the church I was up at the alter with the bride and groom and I had to kneel for alot of the prayers. I thought my knees were going to break. I was trying so hard to make it through the ceremony without embarrassing myself, which I did. The reception was fun, and tiring. I did one round of dancing and after the electric slide, I was pooped. It was a beautiful day and now I can get back to preparing for baby, like cleaning my house which has been neglected for preparations for this wedding.

I hope everyone is feeling good. Like I said before, anything can happen now, it is just a matter of time and these babies will come when they want to, we have no control over that. I can't believe our due dates are fast approaching. Everyone take it easy, and lets try and post a bit more they last few weeks.

Okay ladies I have put these in date order. Lets stay in touch. If we are missing anyone out there with Sept deliveries, please join in with us for these last few weeks. Here is where all the fun begin.

ct_michelle - September 4th
elca - September 7th
washingtonda - September 19th
lostgirl - September 19th

CT - I am so glad that everything went well with the wedding. I know you were so looking forward to that special day. I read the August thread sometimes and was wondering why you also posted there. I guess that August 30th date that you have in mind could be a mothers intuition.

Elca - I wasn't aware that you were early September. You're time is very short also. Do you have everything all set up for the baby and are you taking any prenatal classes?

LostGirl - You and I are on the same date. Actually my due date is Sept 29th but since I must have a C-section due to previous sections, they are allowing me to deliver a week early. Although the 19th is 10 days early, my doc seemed to be okay with that date since that was the date that I chose. He did say that it will all depend on how the last weeks of pregnancy goes. If he thinks the baby need extra days, I will deliver on the 22nd which is the one week early mark. (Three days shouldn't make that much difference). I have already been given shots to help the babies lungs mature when I started to contract last week so hopefully if we make it that far she will be okay.

As for me things have settled down a little. I am still on bedrest and taking meds to stop contractions. I think I will have to take those until the 25th of August which is when I'll be 35 weeks. I am not on 100% bedrest as my doc does want me to move around a little to keep the blood flowing to avoid clotting. DH and I went to Walmart (my favorite place) for a little while yesterday just to get me out of the house. That was the first time I had been outdoors since my scare two weeks ago. That little bit out time out felt great. Today DH and I put up the baby crib. It was pretty easy but time consuming. It is beautiful and puts us that much closer to the reality that the time is getting near. I am back to the doc on Friday so I'll let you know how that goes. After that appointment, we have an appointment to go and have 4D photos and a 4D video done of the baby. We know it's a girl and her name will be Michaela Skye. The place is about an hour away and the cost is $120 but it'll be worth the keepsake. My birthday is Saturday so this is one of my gifts from DH. We do plan to go out for a little while on my birthday even if it's just to the movie and dinner somewhere close to home. We had plans to be out of town this weekend as a birthday gift to me and as our last little get away before the baby arrived but doc said to cancel after last weeks contraction scare. He advised that I needed to stay close to home and DH and I didn't argue that point because we truly agree.

Well this was pretty long so I'll log off now. Hopefully my long post will wake this group up so we can post more often. I promise to post as much as possible in these last few weeks. I am home so there's no reason why I can't log on and chat with you wonderful ladies.

You girls have a good week and I look forward to hearing some great stories this week.

Washingtonda- I definitely agree we need to post more. I was posting on august thread to b/c there is a chance I will be in august and also I have been out of work for a month and a half with plenty of time to post. This thread had so few people that sometimes I would post and there would be no response for a week. Now that you are home too and everyone is getting closer to due date, we can chat more often :D

I was wondering about those 4d ultrasounds. DH really wants to get one, since we haven't had an u/s in sooooo long. In the beginning we had them all the time, and then after our level 2 u/s around 20 weeks, we haven't seen a thing. I was telling dh we didn't need to b/c of the money, but I think I may call. I think the closest place to us is almost an hour away, but I think it will be worth it too.

Lostgirl and elca- How are you holding up? Give us an update as soon as you can.

Washingtonda- Beautiful name by the way...I forgot to say that before.

Ok ladies, I am off to more sitting around and doing nothing. Now that the wedding is over, That is what I will be doing until baby comes, and some house cleaning I guess too. Talk to you all soon!

Hi,
I had a good weekend. Saturday my husband convinced me to do NOTHING since I woke up feeling tired and achy, which proved to be just the thing I needed. We rested, and ate well, and chilled. So on Sunday I felt great. Went for an early morning tour of the labor ward. All of it looked good. The rooms were nice, and it was cool to imagine that the next time I'm there I'll be hours away from meeting my baby.

Physically, things are getting tougher now. I wonder whether more exercise would help, or hurt at this point. I walked two miles at 15 min mile pace this morning (felt good) and then did a hard 10 min of the stairclimber (felt good) then did curlups, and calf stretching, and some more stretching. All in all I feel incredibly energetic this morning but we'll see how I fare later in the day since I nearly always feel full of energy in the morning pregnant or not.

Tonight we have our last childbirth class, and I'm glad. I think we've got all the knowledge we need. At this point, we need to Just Do It. I can't wait for labor to come.

That said, a roommate moved out so now we can finally get going reorganizing our apt. Made some progress this weekend, rethinking everything. Need to buy a sofa we like, a table too, but we found a chair and ottoman that rocks and it arrives in just 8 days. I can't wait! The thing that keeps me sane is being able to come home after 8 hours at work and put my feet up.

Washington Da, I love the name Michaela Skye... gorgeous! Out of curiosity, why is Wal-Mart your favorite place?

Hope everyone is well. Write soon, lostgirl

Well, I called about the 4d u/s. There are only 2 places in CT that offer it, one is about a 45 minute drive and the other is an hour. The one that is closer is also less expensive, but when I called, their first available appt wasn't until 8/12 which is getting pretty close to my due date. Since I have procrastanted this for so long, I really need to be able to have an appt asap in order to do it. Well, when I called the other place, they have an appt for tomorrow, so I made it! I am just under 36 wks, so they said I will be fine, but needed a quick appt. It is more expensive too, it will cost between 170-200, but I think it will be worth it. My dh has really wanted to do one, so when I called him and told him, he was pretty excited. I will definitely let you guys know how it goes.

Lostgirl- You definitely need to have some "do nothing" days. They help a lot at this point. I can't imagine what it would be like working right now, or exercising the way you do...

Hello Ladies,
I am glad that everyone is doing well and getting closer to the big day :)

washingtonda,
yes, we took birth preparation classes at the beginning of July. It was 2 days, 3 hours each class. We had a tour at L/D at that hospital. However, my OB group has just moved on August 1st to another hospital (which is only a few miles away from the previous one, and also it is a new hospital that was opened the last year). So yesterday we decided to go and check the new hospital - just to know how to get to the L/D unit there. I don't think I would be in a mood to look for it when contractions and labor begin  Also, I got a new gown and slippers for the hospital. I am thinking to start getting ready with the hospital bag in order to feel less anxious by knowing that everything is ready.
We ordered the crib the last week, it should arrive in a couple weeks, and got a crib bedding yesterday. There are a few more things to get and I hope we will be ready with this too. Anyway, Babies R us is a couple miles away from my house, so I don't worry too much if I forget to get something - there is always an option to go to the store and get it.

CT_Michele,
I am envy you. I am at this point when I would like to stay home and take it easy (I have never been this way before). I am an RN and working nights 3 times a week. It is getting pretty rough on my body. So I am cutting my hours to twice a week. I also want to be done with my school this year, so I continue with it. We have a lot of clinicals now at school (about 80 hours, which I want to complete before September). Now you see why I wish be at home.
I think it is a great idea to have 4D U/S. Let us know when you'll do itand how you would like the results..

LostGirl,
I am amazed that you continue to be so active. It is cloudy here today, so I had a thought to go for a walk; however, the humidity is much higher because of monsoon season, and I don't think I will be able to tolerate a walk now. So I decided to stay in a pool and soak  My DH wants to get for me a rocking chair also. I think it will be very handy in the nearest future.

I am also hope to hear from everyone more often now, when we are getting closer to our DD. I will try to post more often too.

Hello Ladies,

I haven't posted in a long time. It's so good to see everyone is doing so well. I'm not doing so bad myself, my morning sickness is back full swing. BTW, my due date is Sep 4th. But I feel like anything can happen from this point on.

I'm finally just working few hours a week and go on maternity leave from the 25th. I've bought so much baby stuff already, but haven't organized them yet. I hope to get some done this week.

My biggest complaints are insomnia, leg cramps, heart burn and indigestion. Do you any of you ladies have these issues? I haven't gained much weight this trimester, but overall gained about 35lbs (I was underweight to start with). Will post more these last few weeks.

Caligirl- welcome back- I have updated the list with your due date on it, you are the same date as me. I have had some issues with heartburn, but nothing I can't handle with help from my friend zantac. Sleeping only stinks b/c of slight pain and having to get up and pee 2-4 times per night.

ct_michele - September 4th
caligirl- September 4th
elca - September 7th
washingtonda - September 19th
lostgirl - September 19th

Elca- I will be going for the 4d u/s tomorrow afternoon and I think washingtonda is going on friday. I hope it will be worth it, I just hope the baby cooperates so we can get a good look. I hear you about the hospital bag. That is the one thing I haven't done yet that I probably should have already done. I will get to it this week.

It's funny how everything is relative when it comes to exercise. A couple of ladies have commented they cannot believe I'm still exercising at the level I am, and yet, I feel like considering how much exercise I used to do I should be able to do more!
Anyway, walking is hard no doubt. But swimming is a joy. I can't wait to hit the water once I head to beach this weekend.

As for symptoms, Caligirl, I can't sleep well for 2 or 3 nights then sleep like an angel; I feel like I cannot eat all that much at one sitting; I occasionally feel nauseated if I head to bed too soon after eating, I had some swelling in my ankles if I stay on my feet too long and LEG CRAMPS. Mine are out of control! Yesterday, as we shopped in Best Buy, I had to sit down because my calves were burning. They felt like they were on fire. Manhattan heat isn't helping matters, but I'm concerned enough I'll mention it at my next ob-gyn appt on Wed.

Best, Lostgirl

Hi Ladies,

I'm still around too. Been busier than a one-armed-paperhanger, but it makes the time go by fast. My due date is Saturday Sept. 6th, so 4.5 weeks. I finally got my dissertation turned in and, assuming that the grad school received the 2 archival-paper copies, I am now a PhD for whatever that is worth. I started a post-doctoral associate position this summer and am 'banking' the hours so that I can get paid while I am out on maternity leave (there is no maternity leave when one gets paid through a grant). My job is pretty miserable right now because I don't really know what I am doing and no one wants to go through the lab techniques with me so I do a lot of guessing.

Lostgirl - I am of two minds about exercise. I think it keeps one sane and at this point, you are 'addicted' to the endorphins and don't want to lose them totally. The midwives I go see say it is important to stay as active as possible and the only precaution to take is not to overheat. That said, I find that too much exercise exhausts me and it can take days to recover. Furthermore, I never know how much is too much while I am doing it...

Hope everyone feels as well as can be expected. (are you tired of people asking you how you are feeling yet? I could do without it...) We are almost there. I would love to see some of these 4d ultrasounds when you get them..
Melissa

And then there were six!

ct_michele - September 4th
caligirl- September 4th
Melissa - September 6th
elca - September 7th
washingtonda - September 19th
lostgirl - September 19th

Congrats Melissa on becoming a Ph.D. Quite an accomplishment, even more of one considering you did the final sprint in your 3rd tri! Reminds me of a pal who sat for the Virginia law boards 3 weeks away from her due date, and passed, even though she had to "sprint" to the bathroom a lot more times than any of her fellow lawyers-wanna-bes. Kudos to you.

As for exercise, I'm starting to think how pooped I feel after has more to do with the sporadic sleep i'm getting then anything else. I do have to spread out the exercise for sure. Too many days in a row and I feel horrible. I also can't exercise in the morning if i have plans at night. Like on Thursday I'm driving to Mass. so I won't be doing a thing Thursday morning so I can be more alert at night.

Childbirth classes are now officially over. I'm glad so my dh's... I think we have as much information as we need. The big thing is in the doing of it and I don't think there's more we can do to prepare. That said, I'm going to start working on a hospital bag. Have you ladies bought a nightgown or things for the hospital for yourselves? Not just the baby? I need a front opening nightgown to wear since I plan to breastfeed...
