Pregnancy with IVF after two tube removal?

Post by JennLB25 »

I didn't know where to post this. Here or IVF board, so I did both.

My new RE said that if my tubes are damaged that he wanted to take my tubes out  before doing IVF.

I know this may sound stupid  , but can someone ovulate with no tubes? Would we have to use donated eggs?

RE said that we'd have a better chance with IVF to remove damaged tubes beforehand. Have any of you heard of this?

Hi Jenn,

I too did ivf,as i have no tubes, even though we have no tubes we still ovulate and produce our own eggs.We did 2 fresh cycles then a fet, then we did a 3rd full cycle, this one worked for us and last week our son celebrated his first birthday.

Is this your first treatment?

Hope all goes well for you..xxx

Hi Nic

Thanks for the reply. Um, yes, this is my first treatment. And, unfortunately, my only treatment. We just learned that our new insurance covers up to $20,000 for infertility testing and IVF. Our first appointment was last Friday. They did blood work on me, a sonogram (sp?), and a test on DH. Within the next two weeks they will be checking my tubes to see if they are damaged. We are hoping to know by the end of the month whether or not IVF will be an option.

Congrats on your baby!!!!

We are praying that it only takes this one time to work since we don't have the money to pay for it. But, we'll soon see. The RE said that if my tubes are damaged he wants to remove them, which will delay the IVF process a little. So, for now, I wait to get my tests and see where we go from here.

TTYL

Have a great day.

Hi Jenn, first off you psted in a great place you will find tond of support when you do start your cycle...wishing you loads of luck btw....

Anywho as to your question, (and no it wasnt stupid there is no stupid question with IVF, so always ask away i'm sure someone will be able to help you) well i suffer from blocked tubes and i didnt have mine removed, a decision (not mine) that i now regret, the reason they say it helps to have damaged tubes removed is most of the time during the stimm phase of your cycle you can develope whats called a hydro's..(think it's hydrosalphinx...could have spelt that wrong so forgive) well the thinking is that this fluid ...the hydro.... can leak into your womb aka embie home and it's toxic to your embies, killing off your little ones.

I do know many lady's who have had tubes removed and have gone on to get pregnant so from what i have seen and from personal experience i would say do it, leave nothing to what if!!!

any way hope this hepled a little...best wished and big baby belly to you
