Hello Everyone!! first of all, I really enjoy coming to the message board for answers!!! I have introduced myself in the general forum. This is going to be my first IVF cycle, we are in the process as we speak!! Hubbie and I are so happy:) This Monday, Hubbie has blood work, repeat SA, and we have class for injections. I have to have some more bloodwork done too. OKay now I'm rambling on...... I have to have a Obstetrical Ultrasound, I'M SOOOO SCARED!!!! This was ordered by OB doctor,
Okay, sorry I hit something on the keyboard!!!! I get UTI every month. I have gone to see a Urlogist and I will not let anyone touch me!! I know what you guys are thinking, She's going through IVF!!! I know I'm a big baby!!!! I just want to know if anyone else has had this done, and it is very painful. I'm A VERY BIG CHICKEN!!!!!
Vaginal scan is not at all painful , may be uncomforatble if u are holding urself tight and not relaxing. IF u have any vagina infectionl/UTI , it may be a little more unconfortable , kind of burning sensation becoz of the infection process in and around the area. So relax and dont worry.
vaginal u/s doesn't hurt at all..... the actual instrument might look long and scary but only the top part is actually inserted. The only time you might feel a little discomfort is when you are on stims and your ovaries are full of follicles, but it's not pain...just a bit uncomfortable.
don't worry...just take a few relaxing breaths and don't tense up~ goodluck with your 1st ivf.

hi Ladies, I'm having a Urinary catheter put in. They want to look at the bladder, OB thinks my bladder is spasming way too much. I want to know if that is painful
o ...now that's something different...unfortunately I think their is a slightly sharp feeling sensation when the catheter is put it and taken out...the doc might be able to put a topical anesthetic before beginning the procedure.

Hi Amy, I found out what procedure I'm having done- Cystoscopy. I'm not happy at all. I was reading about it, and some web sites say they put you under and then some just numb you. I don't know, It it is like a phobia for me!!! I know I will not be able to relax, and I know that will make it worse. I have done some deep breathing for some other testing and that seems to help, but this just scares me!!!! Why can't they just knock me out, lol!!! kind of serious!!!
I found out too the doctor will not put me under, sorry I forgot to mention that, I told him I had Valium, He was more worried about why I had it!!!! He said I could take it if I'd like, but I still got that feeling of YOU SHOULDN'T TAKE IT
I've never had a urinary catheter but my sister did...and I'm sorry to tell you that she said it was a bit painful. You can get through it...just prepare yourself and remember why you are doing it.
When I first started this process 8 months ago...I was very emotional about all of the poking and prodding. I felt like each visit to the doctor was so invasive...I mean, let's face it...my doc has seen me up close and personal more times than I'd like to count. Slowly, I realized that I just had to GET OVER IT!!!!!! It's just not fun, it's never going to be fun...but the prospects that can come from all of this nonsense make it worth it.
YOU CAN DO THIS!! I've learned that you just have to roll with it and not fight it so much...I wish I knew that in the beginning.
You'll make it through...usually the anticipation is the worst part. Wishing you only good things!
Thank you snapper!! my husband told me the same thing, i know I'm doing this for a very good reason:) My hubbie said "do you want to have bladder infections when your pregnant"? I can deal with needles, but I just can't deal with this one. I'm going to think about a bit, but not too much:) I need to RELAX!!!! LOL!
Mellie...just keep telling yourself that the cystoscopy will only be but a few minutes (well maybe a tad bit more than a few) in your life and journey to conceive a healthy baby. It's surprising how strong we can be for the sake of having a baby
Stay strong and goodluck~

Thank you Amy:) I know what you mean!!!! Thanks for all the support. I will enjoy the weekend, and relax:) I wish that for all of us!!!! I will worry about it Monday!!! lol, j/j!!!
Cystos can be done bedside or in the Operating Room (OR) while sedated. They just put a large cathater in your bladder and look around with a camera so they can see whats going on. Its best to just have it done so they know for sure whats wrong, as its really the best test.
Good luck and if the Valium isnt enough just ask for some thing else to help you relax/deal with the pain.
Starting IVF/ICSI #1 and acupuncture.
