GHOST!! Donor egg cycle, day 4 Transfer. Success rates?

Post by Iccin »

Dear Ghost,

We had our first donor cycle this time. Our donor is 30 years, she made 14 eggs, we received 7 eggs, 5 fertilised and we transfered 4 embryos today. I am 36. The status of the embies at the time of transfer were (with grade 1 the best and grade 4 the worst):

2 x 10-cell, grade 1 embies :D
1 x 8-cell, grade 2 embie :)
1 x 3-cell, grade 2 embie :(

My questions are:

1.What would be a realistic success rate for a pregnancy?
2.What are our chances of having multiples?
3.What date is the earliest that I can test (HPT)
4.What can I do or what should I not do during the 2WW?
5.Can we have intercourse?

Thank you and greetings from sunny South Africa

In the US, the average live birth rate for fresh transfers in your age group is just under 40%. Your case might be better than that, given your 4 embryos transferred. In the Us, the average was 2.5 transferred. With 2.5 transferred, about 1/4 of cycles had twin births, and 2% of cycles were triplets or more. Your chance of twins or triples would be higher, given your 4 transferred embryos.

With a day 3 transfer, there's no point in testing in less than 7 days, and 10-12 is even better if you don't want to be disappointed by a lot of false positives. In all cases, the serum test is much better (more sensitive) in this time period.

The best thing to do is follow your doctors instructions carefully. Your clinic should have advised you on intercourse. Many recommend against it for some short time interval for a couple of reasons, including the potential that some uncollected eggs might be fertilized and implant along with those from the IVF cycle, and also the possibility that uterine contractions might be an issue for implantation (maybe, but probably not). IVFNurse (another poster here) would know that one better than I do.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
