Need Advise please

Post by Dakota »

I am having a horrible time with my back. I really didnt think that I would have back pain/ache this early on, but I guess it can happen. Its the worst at night. My book suggest to sleep on my left side with a pillow between my legs, but by sleeping on my side (either one) it puts alot of pressure on my back and it hurts. I can still sleep on my stomach, but its only going to last another few weeks, but its not very comfy anymore because I am more stretched out that way and I get hit with the ligament pain. I am most comfy on my back, but we are not aloud to sleep on our backs. Anyone have any suggestions on how to be more comfy and have less discomfort at night?

Any suggestions would be great!!!!

I'm sorry you're in so much discomfort when a good night's sleep is the best thing... :(
How come you're not supposed to sleep on your back?
Have you tried one of those pregnancy pillows? Those long ones...I've seen them in catalogs for Boppys and stuff..
IVF1: BFP 02/08 - Chemical 4 wks.
IVF2: BFP 06/08 - Miscarriage 6 wks.
IVF3: BFP 11/09 - Chemical
IVF4: dec/jan Dear Lord..please let this be the one.

I have been searching online for the pillow's. I found a circle that supports the knees and back, which is my problem right now and when I get further along it looks to support the belly.

Your suppose to sleep on your left side which increases the blood flow to the uterus and kidneys. Sleeping on your back restricts blood flow to that area. The further along and bigger you get it can cut off the circulation to the baby.

Thanks for the suggestion of the pillow :P

Dakota-
sorry you are in such pain, and so early, too- however, check with your doctor- I am fairly certain that you may sleep on your back up to about 20 weeks as the baby is small, and will not obstruct bloodflow etc until he's larger.
there are other remedies -perhaps heat/ice packs, tylenol? , but cannot give great advice on that - if I could, I'd be in better shape myself!

congrats on your pregnancy & good luck with the sleep- and call your doc!
