Anyone's beta drop then go back up?

Post by jharris12 »

I went in for my 3rd beta today, and my beta has dropped. My first beta was 72, my 2nd beta 2 days later was 150, and today (2 days later) was only 43. The nurse said that occasionally levels can drop then go back up. Has this ever happened to any of you? She asked if I had any cramping or spotting, which I haven't. They want me to come back in Thursday for a 4th beta check. I don't even know what to feel right now. I cried when I got the call, and I'm at work, so I had to go out and sit in my car until I got myself back together. I have no idea how I am going to be able to focus on anything until I get my next beta on Thursday. Any help??

I'm so sorry to hear about your numbers. You are in my prayers and please maintain faith - the nurse did say it sometimes happens.

Jharris....I'm so sorry to hear this news and know how hard this is! I can't imagine getting a call like that and then have to stay at work after that.

My heart breaks for you that you have to go through this, but I keep hope that sometimes they drop and then go back up.
You're in my thoughts and prayers that it will all come out alright. The good thing is that you don't have any bleeding and hopefully we can take that as a positive sign.

I'd give you a great big hug if I could....
Lots of love and good vibes coming your way.

I'm so sorry about your dropped beta... and I'm sorry you had to hear the news at work.

There is hope because the nurse said that it does happen... but to tell you the truth it's happened to me and it didn't go back up...it just kept dropping and I didn't have cramps or spotting either for my 1st IVF. They called it a biochemical pregnancy...

I really do hope yours will increase in doubles again... baby dust your way..~~~~~~

I just got back from a gruelling day, and read this post. I can't possibly express how much I feel for you at this time. We all are so bonded by our experiences, and the last thing we want is to hear our new found friends struggling with all of these emotions because of unanswered questions. There is hope and that is what you have to hold on to. Thurs. probably feels like an eternity. Just know that we are all here for you and sending positive thoughts lined with love. It is so interesting that we cant help but be touched by our experiences. Thinking of you.

Jharris: I am totally devastated by your news. I can only imagine just how difficult taking that call must have been. I am praying that your little one is able to bounce back and that your beta doubles. I know it is hard to believe that this can happen, but don't lose faith if you can. I don't think that the nurse would have told you it could happen if she hasn't seen it many times before. Let's hope that you fall in that category. I know that Thursday seems like an eternity, but know that we are all here praying for you, so lean on us if you need to.

Lots of Love,
Elisabeth

jharris~my heart goes out to you, I know that must have been a tough phone call. The nurse did say others have had it go back up, so don't give up hope. You are in my thoughts and I send lots of baby dust your way.

JHarris,
I am so mad that this is happening to you. Why can't any of this be easy????? My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have heard of some ladies beta dropping and then going back up. At those times their RE figured that they had 2 embies implant and start producing HCG but then 1 embie didn't make it so the HCG fell. Good luck on your next beta, I will be keeping my fingers crossed that it rises.

Something funny going on. It's almost impossible to drop that much even if all hCG production suddenly stopped.

I have seen it drop and then rise, legitimately, and result in live birth.

I have also seen lab errors.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Thank you all for your replies. I went back in today for my 4th beta, and my level has now dropped to 15. They told me to stop my meds, but come back in Saturday for one last beta check. Not sure why, but whatever. Then I am supposed to schedule a follow up with my RE. I guess it just wasn't our time. Thanks again for all your words of encouragement. Best of luck to you all.
