Has my baby dropped? It's hard to tell...

Post by LostGirl »

Calling all mommies.. . when you were in your third trimester, were you able to deduce that your baby had dropped? What were some hints that the baby's head had dropped into your pelvis?

I think that's what I'm feeling. Mounting pressure down there. An even-worse need to pee. And twice a day hiccups coming from way low. But here's the thing: I still feel a bit breathless, and I heard that once the baby drops a woman feels like she can breathe again. No such luck on that count for me!

Were you able to tell when your baby dropped? How?

I've got my 36 week ultrasound to determine the baby's position next Tuesday, but I'm super curious as to what other women think.

Hi LostGirl:

I'm actually from the August '08 Bump Buddies group. I myself could never tell if I had dropped or not. All I remember is having to pee plenty ... like it was every one to two hours. I didn't experience pressure from down below.

When other people look at me, they would comment that my belly had dropped ... I guess because I saw myself everyday (side profile in the mirror), I had difficulty telling. My u/s @ week 36 revealed that baby's head was in the down position. From week 34, I was seeing my OB/GYN twice a week to monitor baby. Even to my 37th week, I wasn't yet waddling like a duck.

My son came two weeks early. It was the greatest feeling not knowing the sex of our baby until after I delivered. The labor and delivery team was very careful on what they said while I was actively pushing because we didn't know. BUT, they did because it was stated in my chart, "xy".

I didn't worry about the belly dropping that much. I just continued to enjoy my pregnancy.

Hi ya
Yea when you feel more lower pressure your baby has dropped. That's when you start to walk like a duck!!! I also didn't find out with my DS and it was fun guessing what it was and a great surprise after all that work. We decided with this bub also not to find out. Best of luck!!

Does the baby dropping mean labor is close? In other words, a week or days away? Or is it no predictor at all... Lostgirl
