People with Pooches Question

Post by Tarabeltwo »

Hi Girls

I have a question. I was just getting my eyebrows waxed and the lady who does it has a cute little pooch that is very friendly. While I was sitting there he jump up onto me. He landed on my lower left side and up by my boobs. I was a little freaked out. Since I have been pregnant I have been fighting with one of my cats to not walk all over my tummy and then this.

I know that I am probably freaking out but I am concerned that it could have hurt the baby. What do you think? Thanks

Tara- It is nice to know that someone else out there freaks out about everything 8)

Once you started with your story, the first thing that popped in my head was my friend who is prg with #2 and her 20 month old jumps all over her and he is 28lbs.

I am freakishly paranoid, but I would think that it is ok since it probally only weighs a few lbs and your uterus is still right behind your pelvic bone.

Funny story, I was making home made noodle the other day and because it takes so long I've always leaned forward on the counter while I do it and DH walked in and said all huffy "your not leaning on the counter are you". I wasnt, but with our first time I think we are are paranoid, some more than others "uhhmmmm" (hehehe).

The baby has a wonderful cushion in there, it would take a lot in order to harm the baby so don't worry, I have 3 big dogs that once in a while jump or stomp me :) the baby is very safe in there!

Thanks ladies for the reply. I think I just needed some reassurance. I just woke up from 3 hour nap so I must not have been too worried.

Thanks again for your input!

My pup is a jumper too and loves my lap so I have been trying to keep him off of me. Before my + result, he jump up and pounced on my belly. I was ready to blame him if something went wrong. THen I came to my senses.

Tara, you've gotta try not to be as paranoid as that. Even a big dog jumping up on you probably won't harm the baby in any way.
My sister got hit by a car in her 10th week, broke a leg, an arm, a vertibre in her neck and HER PELVIC BONE and my nephew was born earlier this year perfectly healthy with no complications to the pregnancy.
Now I admit that this is probably a miricle and something much worst SHOULD have happened but it just proves to me that pregnancy isn't as fragile as people make it out to be.
It's not as easy to hurt a baby in utero as you seem to think it is. If it were that easy to hurt a fetus, there would be no babies.
Try not to worry so much and enjoy your pregnancy.

Lot's of luck and congradulations!!!

Silver angel, I too try not to worry, but this is my first prgnancy after trying for 7 years. It's real easy to say don't worry but depending on where someone has been and what they have been through, it can be very hard.

Very inspirational story!

Trust me I know. I've been TTC more or less since 2003 myself and miscarried an IVF baby last year. I know all about paronia.
But stressing over a little dog or a kitty walking over you can't be good either. The stress of worrying about it is probably worst than anything that could happen.

A cuddle with your kitty would probably be great for you and the baby!!
You'll be fine either way. can't wait to hear about your progress.
