Male infertility...success?

Post by snapper »

Is it a bad sign that my first IVF cycle failed even though we think it's a male issue. If I'm fine...shouldn't it have worked?? I'm starting to get relly worried.

how was the quality after fertilization? Male issues can impact this which will result in poor quality embies to put back in. My dh has male issues. Last year we did IVF and after fertilization they were a 2 on a 1-5 scale. Not good at all, didn't take. I also have issues (pcos) so it may not have been totally him. But, this time around, our quality was a 5!!!! and we are preggers. DH's sperm was much better this time the embryologist said. She said last time she had to fight to find good sperm to use. After that, he dieted, took vitamins, stopped smoking cigars, etc. It worked thank GOD!!!! Just something to think about.

hi sweetmomi,

first of all, congratulations on your great news!

thank you for sharing a little bit of your story with me. it helps a lot. the quality of our embryos were not good...they were all B/C. i guess i am just scared that maybe we can't make good embryos at all and that next time will be a repeat of this failed cycle.

it's good to hear that you went from a cycle that produced not great quality to one that did.

were you worried too or am i really nuts?

Our 2nd try worked :-) Keep trying - they say the avg person takes 3 times. Male infertility factor patients are usually great ivf candidates. Our embryos were great the 1st time and it just didnt work. plenty of babies are born from b/c so i would not be discouraged. Talk to your dr about med changes for you in your next cycle.

Snapper,

we are on the same boat.. They tell me is the male issue. However, I have had 3 failed cycle. I think god is the only one who knows the truth. Goodluck.

you are not nuts! We've been at this for 7 years, so I was worried before and am even worried now that I am pregnant. I am just trying to embrace it and let the anxiety go. You will get there, I just know it,
