Hello everyone
Do your actual dates of the IVF cycle often vary from the original planned dates given by the clinic? This is my first IVF and I dont know how likely they are to change. I guess it depends on how well your body responds to the drugs? I am trying to negotiate work around the dates and wondered what you think?
thanks v much xx
Yes dates can change as you progress in the cycle. Sometimes if you respond too well to the injections they have to coast you prior to egg collection. It all depends on each individual response to the drugs. Do your work know what you are doing? Hope it all works out well for you.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a positive result. When do you start?
Hi Tulip, mine always change by a few days as I don't respond very well to the drugs so I go a few days over the original dates. I have booked the relevant days off and then cancelled them if I haven't needed them as work is quite flexible and also my boss knows what I am doing so that helps. Good luck for your cycle
lots of love
Kat xx
On my first (and only full IVF tmt so far) my dates changed by three days after my final scan, the day before EC, showed insufficent follicles - number and size. My dose of Puragon was increased and I was told to return for EC the next week. Over that weekend, 2 more follicles appeared (making 9 in total) and all increased to a sufficient size. 9 eggs were collected, 7 fertilised, 1 overdeveloped but 2 were implanted and 4 frozen. That tmt was successful and we have a 9m old daughter now.
Last week I had a natural FET with 2 of the frozen eggs. Currently on the unbearable 2WW.
Back to your question I would try to keep at least a couple of day's flexibility around EC and ET if possible. Reading previous posts, the amount of time some people take afterwards seems to vary too. It's very tempting to lie down and do as little as possible, although that means that time must drag horribly. I couldn't rid my head of the fear of gravity, sounds so stupid but hey....we're stuffed full of hormones at the time!
The HUGE problem I have is that I might be offered a new job on Monday and I dont think that there is any way I can get them to hold off on me starting until after my IVF cycle. But I really really really dont want to postpone the ivf, not when I am so close to starting. I am supposed to start sniffing on Wednesday. It is now stressing me, to the point that I am hoping that they don't offer me the job - so I can go through with the cycle. So typical, I am not working at the moment and this is a proper job, good money (which we will need),etc etc etc. Not many of those around in Norfolk! My EC should be week starting 8 march...so the ET should be later that week. Maybe I could stretch the start date to Monday 15th but I can't see them waiting until 22nd. Oh yes and I dont want to tell the new employer about the IVF either as I wouldnt be technically 'employed' by them until I was in the 2ww. Such bad timing all round. Sorry for the essay here!
Debra - good luck, how far through the 2ww are you? Must be unbearable, I am crossing everything for you.

Because I'm the nosiest woman on the planet, can I ask, is Tulip your given name? Lots of people on here use alternatives to their original, either because there are others with similar or because they'd prefer a degree of anonymity....anyway, I digress.
Thanks for asking about my 2WW. I'm just over half way through, my blood test is 13th and I guess I'll have to wait until around 18th for the results. AF is due this Monday so I'll have a fair idea of how the test might turn out. I don't feel anything in particular, despite analysing EVERYTHING. I can't remember a thing about how I felt last time so have nothing to compare it to.
I feel mixed about mentioning 'last time' on this site. I want to be sensitive to people going through multiple tmts but also feel that success stories should be shared...a tricky balance given how emotional the whole subject is. Enough waffle, thanks for asking and good luck to you too.
