Fetal pole and no yolk sac? IVF Nurse/Ghost help?

Post by dcdiva »

I went for my first u/s today at exactly 6 weeks. For the longest time we saw an empty gestational sac. Right when we were going to finish up we saw the fetal pole. The doctor says we can't tell anything for sure yet and to come back in a week. I thought we would at least see the yolk sac. Can you have a fetal pole without the yolk sac? My last beta over a week ago was 2236. I haven't gotten todays numbers yet. I was so devastated to see an empty sac. Is it still to early? Do I still have a chance? What does seeing the fetal pole mean?

I experienced what you're going through now 2 months ago. I had an u/s b/c i had browinsh-red spotting and it just showed the sac and fetal pole (per the doc) no yolk sac. He wanted me to come in a week from then and I would be 7 weeks then. I got there and he couldn't find anything. I was devastated. It ended up being a blighted ovum. You still could have a chance, I would get one more u/s before truly giving up. But to me in all honesty it sounds like it could be a blighted ovum. I truly hope it isn't and that the next u/s you shall have will prove, me, and any others wrong. good luck. ((((Hugs)))) and may God bless you with your hearts desire.

This happens. The fetal pole is the developing fetus. Specifically, it's the head and spine forming. Yes, you still have a chance. I don't know the odds, but it's routine to check again in a week in these cases. Things not seen in one ultrasound often appear in the next.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
