Hi dretrac,
I just got done w/ IVF#1 at SG in Annandale. Unfortunately, my insurance had a max $ that was only enough to cover the 1 IUI and 1 IVF we had both of which resulted in a BFN (just got the news of the BFN IVF#1 today:( ).
Can you please give me some info on how the shared risk works? Cost, who's qualified, etc, as we're thinking about starting IVF#2 as soon as allowed and are thinking about doing the Shared Risk. Thanks!
SG has a good reputation within the industry, if that matters.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
Thanks Ghost! Yeah I have been happy with them. In fact, I have been happy with all my MD/DC doctors. I wonder if there is great health care here because of the politicians. Dunno....
I actually got pg with twins on my first IVF, but lost them, most likely due to lupus. I am now on some good lupus drugs, so I hope to avoid that if I am lucky enough to repeat the success on round three.
I don't qualify for shared risk unless I use donor eggs...
Thanks for all your responses. lynniecat, I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope you have success getting a BFP again soon!
I'm trying to stay positive, but its so hard...I just keep wondering, what if it never works?! I know its not the best attitude to have, but I can't help but be depressed. I hope it passes soon...
I truly admire all of you that stay positive and keep your chin up...
Yup, I am often consumed with the thought of never having children and its a very bad place to be. My best friend just got PG on her first round of IVF and is doing wonderfully. No morning sickness, not heartburn, not nothing, she feel great and is at 10 weeks. Its really hard to be happy for her when I continue to struggle, makes me feel really bad. She is one of these people that has a great family, makes hundreds or thousands a year and her only blip was poor sperm morphology for her hubbie, but a bit of ICSI solved that! She is telling me everyday how great she feels and its hurts to still be struggling, but she is great friend and of course I have to support her!
I did my 3 rounds at Washington Fertility in Annandale but have 3 friends that both used SG and both have beautiful babies to show for it. They all have wonderful experiences and are very happy with thier outcomes 2 singles and 1 set of twins.
I did 3 cycles of IVF with SG at Annandale before I got my BFP. I absolutely love the folks at SG. They were very professional and personable. They truly showed that they cared and strived hard to get positive results. With each of my failed cycles, they changed my protocol, and the third time was a charm for me. I know how discouraging it can be to see those BFNs, but you have to remain positive and know that it will work in God's time.
BTW, I also did the shared risk program. I don't know what I would've done if they hadn't offered it.
Thanks, its so great to hear these success stories and congrats on your BFP! I noticed your signature states the IVF#'s with a month gap b/w each of the attempts...were these back to back? As expected we are eager for IVF#2 and the lengthy protocol is so draining. Also would you mind sharing who your Doc was at SG? Thanks!
My doctor is Dr. O'brien. She is new and has just moved from Rockville to Frederick but is still seeing her Rockville patients. I have also talked to Stillman and Chan. Both are excellent. They are all upbeat there and the ultrasound tech, Margaret is excellent!
Bubbles - My doctor was Dr. Garde in Annandale. She is excellent and very personable. I've also had Dr. O'Brien in Rockville do one of my procedures. I did my cycles back to back with 21 days of bc pills inbetween each cycle.
My doc is also Dr. Garde:) And I definitely agree that she is really personable and her credentials seem excellent. I spoke to her after the 1st failed IVF and she put me at ease and gave me hope for round # 2.
Would you mind telling me how #2 IVF starts, i.e. when is the 1st time I need to go in and start BCP? I just got my period yesterday(Friday). I'm not sure if I need to go in for the 1st monitoring appt on Sun or Mon and left a VM but cannot get a hold of anyone as SG(Annandale) b/c it's the weekend. I do not want to mess anything up and have to sit out this month.
Also we are going to participate in the Shared Risk and didn't know at what stage the payment is due?
Thanks lynniecat. I ended up going in for monitoring this morning(day 3 of AF). They gave me a prescription for BCP that I got filled. However someone from SG left a VM in the afternoon saying that everything looked good, but since my hormones were a little high(they want around 24 and mine were 26), they want me to schedule another monitoring appt this week.
I am now unsure if I should still start my BCP tonight since they said nothing about that on the VM, but I guess I will and confirm with them tomorrow morning.
