jenn- wow, you have some really nice friends! sadly most of my close friends from dental school have gone and moved away so most won't make it to my baby shower. Even trying to get some family members in the same place is a problem! I don't mind buying stuff myself...I would love to get gifts but its not a big deal. The best gift is going to be my baby girl!
You are going to be a first time mom right? I still trip-out thinking about being a parent...I'm nervous but at the same time excited! Its goign to be strange to see DH toting a diaper bag and pushing a stroller...

sameera- hmm, maybe thats what I need to invent...non-prune prunes. Like TinNotts preggo-bed. I could make millions!
how are the twins?- when do we get to find out boy/girl??

God Bless!

Good Morning Everyone!

Michele - I actually want to be the one to by my little one his clothes but I think my friends are so happy that DH and I are finally expecting that they can't help it. All of my friends have anywhere from 2-4 kids each so there is quite a few kids in our group of friends. DH and I were always the one that didn't have any kids to bring along. This is Dh and I's first so we are nervous but at the same time I helped raise my godson and he is turning 15! I still can't believe he is that old already. At least I know that if I have any questions I can call my best friend help. She is definitely experienced as she has 4 kids and still not sure if she is done yet!

I have to agree with you on the DH pushing a stroller and carrying a diaper bag. That will be one I have to get a picture of.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Jenn

Hello girls

It's been a while since I wrote, but it's been so hectic at work that I've just had to knuckle down.

Plus my rib pain's been getting so bad that I went to the doctor and she gave me some blood tests in case it was to do with my kidney/gall bladder, but fortunately everything's come back clear. (Though I need to take some iron tablets). It did freak me out a bit, as I'm going on holiday next week and didn't want to go away if there's a problem. Still in pain though - especially when I have been sitting down for a while (hence trying to avoid using PC). It's better in the morning when I've been lying down. The only explanation seems to be that it's my IBS playing up, so I've been eating very restricted IBS-friendly diet this week, but it hasn't made much difference, so I'll go back to eating my usual. Doc gave me some tablets for IBS today, so I'll see if they work. Fingers crossed.

Chelly - Congrats on the girl! How lovely! I hope DH is excited too, as I know he wanted a boy. I'm sure he'll fall in love all over again. You cry away to get your painted nursery! Baby needs a nice place to live - she'll love it when she's old enough to look around. Plus it makes it more special for you. If the tears don't work, then get some marker pen and write something he won't like to see in big letters all over the walls. Then he'll have to paint it to cover up your graffiti! hehehe! Regarding the bowel movement, apart from fibre, drink lots of water - it softens the stool so it's easier to pass. If you pursue the prunes route, I can recommend a large tub of ice cream to wash it down! Or prune juice. Actually I love prunes and will happily eat several as a treat instead of chocolate (weirdo?!) I feel the same about being a first time mum! It's so exciting but freaky too!

Jenn - I was curious to know if you ever tried the sofa-cushion pregnancy bed construction?! Did it work?! I'm also the last in my set of friends to have kids, so it will be great to join the club. I may get a few hand-me-downs too.

Sameera - glad you're getting used to all your pains. I feel a bit of a wimp complaining about mine - I'm sure you've got it worse.

You all seem to be so far ahead of us with your preparations. We haven't done anything about cots or car seats or anything! My aunt has a glider she will lend us, and probably some other stuff too, as her baby is now 3, but we haven't thought beyond that yet!

I'm off for a 2 week holiday in France now, so I will be off the radar again for a while. We're taking the train free 1st class, which I got with my loyalty points from travelling so much with work! Hooray!

Good luck to all of you with U/S next week. Mine's not till 9th September, so there's still some way to go.

Stay well everyone and I'll catch up on my return. A bientot!

T - You are too funny with the graffiti. I would never have thought of that. I definitely think it would be a good route if the tears don't work.

I did try out the sofa cushion pregnancy bed but it didn't work to well as my husband has not been giving me much room. He has bee all over the map. I find though if I switch sides consistantly over night it tends to help quite a bit. Hopefully that will continue.

I hope you have a great time in France. Relax and have a good time for all of us who will be working while you are travelling.

Thanks,
Jenn

Good Morning!

Sameera - Sorry you aren't getting a lot of sleep. I think I am starting to sleep a little more each day again. I think I have figured out a routine to get comfortable. I start to go to sleep on one side when I wake up to go to the bathroom and come back I lay on the other side and I keep going like that until I get up in the morning and it seems to be working.

I am feeling good now and seem to have a little more energy then I did before. I also feel the baby moving around alot more. I did have a bit of a scare last week as there was a spill on the floor in the hospital I work at and I slipped and fell. Luckily everything is okay. I went and was assessed to make sure the baby was fine and other then a bruised knee I am doing great.

I am looking forward to my next long weekend. This fri, sat, sun and mon. Very excited. Going camping! I can't wait to just have a weekend and relax. It will be nice too as it is my birthday and we are spending some nice relaxing time with some friends.

I hope everyone else is doing well!

Jenn - enjoy your long weekend :) as far as sleep glad to hear you are getting some sleep - that's always helpful!

okay so seriously anybody else going crazy with NESTING during pregnancy?? i swear i am going nuts with it - I cannot sit in one place I am constantly cleaning up and getting stuff ready.

My dh said i am driving him insane :( but i have no control over this thing i am really wanting everything cleaned and done before i go on bed rest cause i dont know what to expect and I cannot totally be dependent on others?! ugh lol

Today is my u/s and i am looking so forward to it! I cannot wait to see my babies been dying to see a glimpse of them.

my dd is so excited as well - i will let you guys know as soon as I find out the sex of my babies :)

take care and enjoy your day!

sameera- I can't wait to hear what the sexes are!! Hopefully boy/girl so you have an even mix! Haha, I bet your poor DH will feel so outnumbered if yall have twin girls, plus your toddler! No, I am starting to nest too...I cleaned out my chest of drawers this weekend...I still need to do my closet. I have a lot of clothes that I won't be able to wear this season (obviously) so might as well get rid of them. By the time I can wear them next fall/winter they will be 3 seasons old...wayyy out of style! The baby's room is pretty much cleared out...we are just using it as a holding room for garage sale items.

jenn- Camping as in roughing-it or luxury style?? I can barely sleep as it is, I can't imagine trying to sleep on the ground!
Good thing you have so many friends with kids...lots of advice and play dates! Are they of similar age? We only have one other set of friends that has kids...a 3 yo boy and they are expecting a girl in Nov. They were so excited that our girl is due Jan, they will be close enough in age that we can do playdates. Most of my friends are either from dental school or other professionals, so we have all waited a long time to get married or have kids.
And I love feeling the baby move, although she does pick bad times to be active. Like when I am trying to sleep! Sometimes I end up on my back, and she will wake me up by floating towards the top of my belly and kicking me. She also likes to stand on my bladder it seem! But I wouldn't trade that feeling for anything!

TinNotts- Haha, I love the grafitti idea! DH would be pissed at me though! Its not even that I need the whole room painted, I thought even a cutsey border but he said why bother, the baby isn't going to remember anything!
Hmm, I wonder what's up with the rib pains? Is it indigestion? I've alway been sensitive to the stomach, so I'll get indigestion & heartburn just thinking about certain foods. Pepcid is my best friend!
I like dried fruits, except prunes. I have been eating more fruits and fiber cereals and I have been ok so far...I think it was the travelling that upset my balance.
I hope you have fun in France; I wish I had a job like yours!!

God bless!

Good Morning Ladies! I hope everyone is doing well this morning.

Sameera - Congradulations on the boy and girl! That's awesome! It sounds like your little girl is getting ready for when her brother starts to pick on her! I know what you mean about the nesting. I have been getting the house cleared out and then I am going to start emptying the nursery.

Michele - Definitely camping luxury style. I have an air mattress for my tent for DH and I to sleep on. My friends kids range from 6 days - 14 years. My godson is 14 and looking forward to having a little boy around. He has 3 younger sisters so he is really looking forward to my little boy. He also plans on teaching him soccer when my little boy gets bigger. He is 14 and says he will enjoy teaching him how to play. I have quite a range of ages for playdates. I have another friend who plans on getting pregnant in the next few months.

So as for me I think I jinxed myself by saying yesterday that I am getting some sleep now because last night I couldn't figure out what was going on. Sorry if this is TMI. Everytime I tried to sleep I would feel like my dinner get coming up in my throat. I finally ended up taking 4 tums and a big glass of milk and sat up for another 45 minutes before I could lay back down and get comfortable. When I first woke up I woke up choking on my food. It was really gross and scary. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hope you are all having a good day so far.

Jenn

Jenn, sounds like a bad case of reflux. Talk to your dr and find out if there prescription level antacids you can take.

Sameera, congrats on your boy/girl combo, should be tons of fun!

Tin, jealous of a France trip for sure. We made it as far as camping this summer, and took the kids to African Lion Safari ~ which they loved.

Chelly, hope you're hanging in there. I'm starting to nest too, getting stuff cleaned out and organised.

Big u/s today, will let you know what's been growing in there.

Hey I know you had twins - i am a lil concern both babies weighs a pound each and do I need to be concern about my weight or their weight??

the ob said everything is fine and they are gaining weight and looking healthy - but when i see other twin mommies they are so much bigger then me and i am sure babies are bigger too!

am i doing something wrong? or is it because i have always been tiny and that's why babies are tiny too?

i dunno any suggestions you guys??

Hi!

Post by DrJen »

Ladies, sorry I've been MIA. I have had sooo much nausea until a couple weeks ago, plus I go home after work and collapse!

I am 19wks today--u/s yesterday and we're having a boy! DH is thrilled--I just want a healthy baby. Everything looks good with the baby, but I have complete placenta previa. Has anyone seen that on this site? My Dr explained there is a 50% chance the placenta will move, but I have to be monitored closely, watch for bleeding, etc. If it does not move, I will have a scheduled c-section prior to my due date. I am so thankful the baby looks ok, but the Dr also said there is a theoretical chance this could affect the baby's growth!

I have missed so much that I haven't gone back to check on all of you!
Chelly-looks like you're having a girl!!
Sameera-boy and girl!!

Again, sorry I've missed so much, but the nausea was overwhelming--I barely made it thru a workday.

Jenny- yay congratulations on a Boy!! I'm sure both of you are really excited and thrilled :)

I have not heard about Placenta Previa - but I know they are tons of women that has had that issue. It's really good though that your OB will be watching you closely.

Hope everything will be smooth! wow, it's been such a long time since we have talked -

how's everything else??

How are all my other ladies doing??
