waiting is so long at the start

Post by Juliana »

hi girls, i am barely five weeks today and it feels as if time does not pass at all. I find the waiting till 23 february really impossible. and i keep checking myself for symptoms to try to guess if i am ok and if things are better than last time. i do not feel really nauseaus yet, but the breasts are tense and i cannot stand the smell of coffie. i also started feeling really sleepy, good job that i took the decision not to take the work trip, cannot imagine how i would have coped. but i am worried i am not sick/throwing up. what are your experiences?

Hi Juliana

I've just posted you on your other post.

The waiting for the first scan is impossible I really feel for you. If the waiting seems too much you could pay for a private scan, which can be carried out from about 6 weeks or contact an EPU.

Try not to worry about your symptons too much I was not sick until I was 8wks and even then I was only physically sick a few times I felt more nauseous than anything.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Hi Juliana
Try not to worry - all very normal - we spend our whole time waiting and this bit is or was worse for me than the 2ww - you think once you have got there great! but still have the waiting and more to lose if this makes sense.
I was not sick until 6 weeks this time - last time not much at all.
Boobs did not hurt until 6 weeks either this time - make up for it now though. Try to keep "busy" to keep your mind off it

Dear Juliana

I really do empathise with you. It is pure hell waiting for that scan and time just drags. It is a good sign that you hate thr smell of coffee and feel tired - like you said a good decision not to go on the work trip.

As for feeling sick, some do some don't. Make the most of it is what I say. I was sick very early on and the week before my scan I stopped feeling sick and thought OMG something bad has happened. I had my scan saw the heartbeat and then the sickness came back with utter vengeance. I have never been so ill and ended up ih hospital for 2 and a half weeks. If you don't feel sick now it could come later there is no pattern. You may breeze through it and feel fine all through. My boobs were never sore until I was about 10/11 weeks but only mildly.

You could fib to the EPU and tell them you have pains and they will scan you sooner. I don't agree with fibbing but if it sets your mind at ease, Why not? We have gone through more than most so we deserve a bit of extra care.

Good luck and try not to worry too much. We are all different.

Love Dagny xx

Hi Juliana

I felt sick but not as bad as the first time. As for my boobs well they were sore but not as sore as my first time they were like bricks i could not wear a bra and well i am big chested. Every pregnancy is different and i was the same as you thinking there most be something wrong and when they started to fade you thought the worse but my sicky feeling is back and i am 13wk 4days pg. At least you feel tired that is a good sign.
Waiting for that first scan is horrible the rest are right if you can not wait try and get an earlier scan i had a scare about 4 wks and they scanned me and i saw the heartbeat and i got a photo.

Time does pass so slowly. I am glad you decided not to go.

hi Juliana

I really do feel for you at the moment, I remember waiting for my first scan, it was the LONGEST two weeks of my life!!! and i only had to wait two weeks not three!! It will soon pass. Try to keep your fluids going and rest as much as possible.

I wasn't particularly sick until after my first scan (probably the shock of finding out I was having twins!) but then like Dagny, I really knew about it. I was sick all day and night until about 16 weeks. It serves me right for wishing I had some pg-type symptoms!

Try to relax and the time will soon pass. the good news is, once you get the first scan out of the way time does seem to whizz by after that......I'm 24 weeks now and it only seems like five minutes that I found out I was pregnant!!

Roll on 23rd Feb - not long!

Hi Juliana
I think we all worry about what we do or don't feel and what is 'normal'
The first 2 week wait for a scan is one of the slowest times ( I also waited nearly 3 weeks). All I can say is try to keep busy but also make sure you get plenty of rest and relaxation.
I suffered from OHSS and was only sick when the pain was bad, I didn't suffer from morning sickness at all, my boobs were/are big and sore but I haven't gone off anything or had any cravings for anything.

Try and enjoy it and take care

hi everyone, your mails are as always very reassuring, I feel a little bit more confident every day. This week I will pass the day when it all went wrong last time, it's silly I know but once this is over I will feel better and wait for the scan with less worry. I thought about having the scan earlier somehow like some of you suggested but strangely, this brings back bad memories - I had to have it 2 days early last time as i had started bleeding. so i will superstitiously wait till the date which will be 14 days from now, finally only a 2ww :) .
love and thanks to all,
juliana

Hi Juliana

Glad to see you are feeling a bit better. I know how it feels when it has went wrong before and you pray you get passed that day and its worrying i am sure you will be fine and liked you said once you have passed it you can move on and its another hurdle by.

Hope the 2ww goes more quickly after this week.
