Hi all, has anyone else put on lots of weight during and after their cycles? I am sitting here typing and I have had to undo my trousers . People are going to start thinking I'm pg and that really would be ironic wouldn't it? I have put on nearly a stone since I started this ivf business and it seems to be mainly on my belly, and I wasn't exactly skinny to start with....perhaps I'm comfort eating...

Hi Kat
I know exactly what you mean - I'm sitting here typing with my trousers undone and when I am at work, especially towards the end of the day, I do the same - fortunately nobody has noticed as far as I know!
This is my 3rd attempt and in my previous 2 attempts about a week or so after I got the negative the bloating went down almost overnight....but hopefully now that won't be the case and we'll grow huge round tummies! So, what I'm trying to say is don't worry as this will probably work and if not your tumtum will go down shortly after you stop the drugs. I'm just sick of wearing my fat trousers and can't wait to come home from work to put on my pjs!
Good luck in your treatment.
Love, Michelle
Our darling son Jake was born in October 2004 on our 3rd IVF attempt. I have PCOS. We're now trying again naturally, before embarking on our next FET IVF possibly late 2005... so watch this space!!!
Ive always had to watch my weight, only have to look at a cake and put on half a stone!
I usually manage to maintain it just and although not flat have never had a big tummy problem(my weight goes to my hips!)
Since doing full tmt last May I have put weight on my tum and just cant seem to shift it.......its a right pain that the drugs cause weight gain, it would not be too much to ask that when we finish tmt for the weight gain to go too would it?
Oh well, another cross to bear for us IVF girls.
Hope you are well Kat
Sarah

p.s-you must buy some rubber gloves and do some washing up or Alfie will get vross with you!!
Hi, I've also put weight on round my tummy (about half a stone!). This is my 4th attempt at IVF and have just had ET so am doing absolutely nothing but resting this weekend which makes me feel even fatter...I thought it was just me putting on weight so I'm not feeling quite so bad about it.
I put on about half a stone with each tmt. I was a stone over what I normally am at the end of the my last tmt. I did lots of Yoga which is relaxing and manages to keep your shape - Barbara Currie is really good, I've got lots of her videos and used to put one on at night and do half an hour and feel chilled out.
Hope you are well - when are you next cycling? I'm still here waiting for you Sarah, Karen, July-ann.......I still spy on you all and watch what you are up to!
love nikola.x
ps Sarah is right about the Marigolds, perhaps if you did a bit of housework it might help shift the pounds!! You don't want to upset the lovely Alfie (or nana moon!)
Yep, I put on a good half stone with my last IVF cycle too!! right from downregging. I think its the hormones and also that I dont swim once I am on the 2ww, so Im not exercising either!?
Am gonna try to be good before I start next treatment and loose a few pounds to allow for what I will gain!!
Would love to meet for that 'latte'! (no cake to go with it then?!), Will check my personal messages to see if we can arrange it!
I put a lot of weight on during all my treatments which really pee'd me off as I have been a yoyo dieter for years and whenever I lost weight I would start another treatment and it would pile on (I have kept good ole Rosemary Conley in business if nothing else) I suppose if you think about it our ovaries can get remarkably big (well mine did) and it's not very surprising our bellies get big.
So glad you started this post - I thought it was age catching up with me, although probably that too! I've always been fit and had a super flat tummy (although big bum and thighs) and am really miffed that I now have a flabby tummy - I've put on around 9lbs since the start (4 cycles) and can't get rid of it. Desperately trying to loses a few pounds before the next cycle.
Just another thing to worry about!! Although I know we probably shouldn't but it doesn't help especially if you are on the bigger side and should be trying to lose weight to get pregnant!
Well I'm glad it's not just me, honestly I look at myself and wonder how I got so fat, it just crept up on me I suppose over the past year or so. I really do look pg - perhaps it's wishful thinking as I am most definitely not.
Have decided to start swimming with some others from work so we'll see if that has any effect.....
Otherwise I will definitely have to start pulling my weight around the Vic and do some housework ha ha.
Hi Nikola (done any more shopping recently?!) , probably cycling again in April but have to phone clinic at next af to see what they want to do with me. That will be cycle no 6...although only 2 et's. I must be mad.
Kat, you are mad, mad as a hatter! But just you keep going girl and keep believing it will happen and it WILL you'll see. I'll be watching out for you when you cycle again.
Lots of love

ps Believe it or not, I don't even like shopping - it bores me! I'm like a bloke I have to go into one shop and get it all done in one go before I lose interest! Besides shopping for breast pads is not quite the same as shopping for Jimmy Choo shoes!
Thought it was just me!!!!!!!!!!! When I have been on the injections (in between cycles at the mo), I cannot stop eating, I have this really desperate need to eat all the time and I put on at least half a stone. So what with that and the bloating from growing vast numbers of eggs, I felt like an absolute heffa!!!
