Hi Girls

As you know today is my test day.

Bad News - I have had some brown spotting, ususually the kind I get
before af appears.

Good News - I just got a positive hpg test.

I have just spoken to the hospital and they said that I will just have to wait and see what happens. They do not believe that blood tests are accurate and have asked me to wait another week before I do a home pg test again. They said that if I test before then there could still be pg hormones in me and this would not be accurate. They also said that this is neither a good nor bad sign and only time will tell. As I have miscarried before I am already thinking the worst and suspect that I will probably start proper af within the next day or so.

I really don't want to feel negative but I can't help it. If I was on knicker check before today now I'll be on High Knicker Alert. I've got a slight tummy ache, not sure if this is a nervous tummy or af coming. I'm so confused.

Anyway I'm extremely late for work so better get going (how I'm going to get through the day I'll never know).

Love to you all.

Hi Michelle

Firstly - Congratulations on a +ve HPG test. It is a very good sign and lots of girls have had spotting or full blown bleeding (Jules K) and gone on to have pregnancies. I had spotting and AF pains and I got a +ve and I'm now 21 weeks PG. Keep thinking positive thoughts and hopefully when you have the blood test it will be fine. I don't know why they don't just do a test now anyway. It's no skin of their nose, but to make you wait a week is just cruel.

Advice - Wear BLACK knickers as it's less obvious to see any traces of spotting and so if you can't see it, it aint there kind of thing! It should make you worry less about it.

Hope you survive your day at work. It's better to keep occupied. Good luck. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Love Dagny xx

Hi Michelle

Dont understand what your clinic have said to you? :? Surely blood tests are the most accurate as they can give you a precise reading. I would get back on the phone and demand one!!!
There are loads of girls on here that have +ves but bleed and spot so dont worry. Take it easy and put your feet up over the weekend. I had everything crossed for you as we were both due to test today and I even told Traci to light my candel for you instead!

Take Care

Oh Michelle,

I'm sorry to read that you are in such limbo, but like the others have said, its not over yet and there is much hope from your BFP.

Its hard not to compare to 'last time', but remember, every pg is different and just because something happened previously doesn't mean it will happen again and you and I have just been unlucky in the past (I kept in the forefront of my mind that only 1% of pgs are ectopics) and I know how difficult it is, but try to stay +ve for the next week - it would be a shame to let it get to you in the end for no reason.

Just think of it as still being on the 2ww (well 3ww) - although it isn't ideal, you've managed to get through 2/3rds already and you CAN survive this next week.

I wish you all the luck in the world in you getting the result you want - if you want to talk to me, you know I'm only at the end of the phone.

Lots of Love

michelle, it's great news about your positive result. i had some bleeding/spotting when i had my positive and really bad af pains. these turned out to be not af but ovary pains, which is common. i was convinced it was negative for a number of reasons and shocked when positive. there are many girls here that had similar experiences. i'm now 15wks pregnant.

as sue said think about calling the clinic again and asking for a blood test again. i keep saying, we've all been thru so much just make sure you get all the attention you need.

take it easy,

Hi Michelle,
There always seems to be a but doesn't there!!

I will be praying for you, like the others say, bleeding is quite common and I think even more so for IVF girls.

Why we have to go through all these extra ups & downs I will never know, it seems so unfair when other peole just crack open the champagne and celebrate!!

Hi Girls
Thank you so much for all your replies. Well I've managed to get through the day with only a tiny bit of spotting. I did call the hospital again and they told me to come in for a blood test on Monday and then again on Wednesday and then on Thursday they will be able to tell me for sure....I can't believe it is so long. Anyway I'm just praying that I have no more blood and that I am really pg (though I'm finding that thought extremely hard).
Dagny your post is so positive - I so hope I follow in your footsteps.
Thanks so much girls - you are really are so kind.
I'll keep you closely in-touch.
Love, Michelle x

Hi
I'm feeling so confused right now I don't know if I'm coming or going. I had slight spotting on Friday as you know, nothing at all yesterday so was starting to feel more positive and woke up today and again had some spotting. The spotting today was only on the toilet paper, it hasn't got as far as my knickers (and hopefully won't).

I've also got no pg symptons at all - though I know that is not necessarily anything to go by. I've got a tummyache almost all the time - and I can't tell if it is an anxious tummy or period tummy - I'm really all over the place. I just wish if af is going to rear her really ugly head that she would get on with it - this waiting is just pure torture.

Anyway I'm going to take the puppy for the walk with dh and my mum so at least I won't be able to knicker check for a while!
