Hey Girls,

I can't believe a week away and I have missed so much!! Hope you don't mind but I will do personals later and just update you on what happened in Sweden.

I had EC on the Wednesday as planned, it was completely painless and much quicker than the previous 2 that I have had in the UK. Makes me wonder how clinics can do things so differently!! Anyway, the retrieved 9 eggs which I was pleased about. The decided to do a mix of ICSI and conventional IVF.

I got a phonecall Thursday morning and unfortunately only 4 out of the 9 had fertilised, 2 from the ICSI group and 2 from the other. I was pretty disappointed especially as in previous cycles ther fert rate has been much better. The nurse told me that due to the slightly low number they weren't sure whether to wait until they were blasts or do a 2dt (they like to have 5 or more to do blast). They phoned again on Friday and had decided to do the transfer that day, which if I'm honest I was gutted about.

Anyway, they did the transfer (which took about 5 minutes and I didn't have to have a full bladder either!! ) and put back one very good embie and one good one. I also had AP either side of ET which was good.

So I am now PUPO and my test date is the 7th Sept. I feel different this time around, less stressed and more hopeful. Treatment in Sweden is something I would definitely recommend, the way DH and I were dealt with was really personal and they seemed to really care about us a people rather than just patients.

So now the waiting game begins....will I last without POAS?....mmm doubtful! :D

I hope everyone else who is in the 2ww is doing ok, those stimming that your follies are behaving themselves, those preggers that you are finally relaxing and those whose news hasn't been what you wished for are taking time out to heal.

Catch you later

Kate :D

Wow, I missed a day and had a lot of catching up to do! :)

toobee-
Congrats on being PUPO!! Take it easy and sending you lots of sticky dust.

Chris
-I think it is normal to obsess about being PG. I mean, we have spent a lot of time and money on this. I am pretty relaxed about it though. I just reach down and pat my belly giving it good thoughts. My son is cute as he kisses my belly all the time. At night he whispers night night to the babies. :)
I agree with you on the core of the pineapple. It is not something I would normally chew on. I had cut up a fresh pineapple before ET and while on my bed rest, my husband ate a lot of the it :x He said he couldn't help himself that it tasted so good.

Hoping4miracle, Much Hope, JJake, and horsegrl, - Great job on ER girls. Hoping your little embies are dividing like crazy!!

Muggsey- I was having some bad constipation after ER. I started taking stool softeners and that helped. My clinic gave me a list of do's and don't of meds. For constipation they said it is ok to take Metamucil, Colace, Doxidan, and Milk of Magnesia. Of course, I ate something yesterday that now I have the opposite problem.

Val-
Wow, great fert report!! Go embies!!! Here's hoping for a Friday transfer!!

Kate- Glad your trip went well. It is hard when the number of fertilized isn't what you hoped. At least you had some good ones to transfer. My clinic doesn't do 5 day transfers so I don't have to worry about making it that far. I hope your embies are snuggling in tight. Good luck!! i am with you in that I don't know how long I will be able to hold off POAS. I was really bad last time, but will try to hold off longer this time.

Well, I am off of bed rest and my DH is very happy about it. He doesn't like having to do all the stuff I do. :) I have been busy planning our trip. We have to be in Orlando for business on Sept. 8th. So we decided to go a few days early and take our son to Disney World. When I first asked my doc if it was o.k. he didn't like the idea of me walking around so much. I told him i always get an electric wheel chair because of my prosthetic and he said it was fine. So we will just take it slow and easy. My son is very excited. But this means I need to get as much homework done ahead as possible so I don't' have to worry about it on the trip. Hope everyone is doing great. I have to go study now :( I hate reading textbooks. I hope it isn't too dry.

Kate -

I have three friends who got pregnant on the second IVF where they got fewer eggs, fewer embies, and transferred fewer. QUALITY is key. One even had twins!

Don't focus on numbers. Think health and growth. we are the one in a million ladies.

Well ladies, out of my 4 they got, all were mature, however only 2 fertilized. They will both be sent for PGD Friday if they do well and cells devide.

My fingers are crossed and they are now in Gods hands. I'll keep you posted.

Come on healthy embies

Hey all,

I've been fighting a cold for the last couple of days (I always seem to get them when doing fertility drugs, weird!), but now I'm back :). You're all are busy busy busy!

Val - Great looking Fert report! Sweet! :) Crossing all my little toes and fingers and, heck, even eyes ;) for your ET on Friday! ;)

hoping4amiracle, much hope, horsegrl and JJJAKE - congrats on your ER's. Wishing for all those eggies to become healthy strong embryos!
You're getting your FERT's today, right? Let us know!!

toobee - Congrats on PUPO. Rest and take it easy now! :) Sticky, sticky baby dust to ya. BTW, are you British by any chance?

kerpupples - What is vitrification?

turtles - Have fun with your family on the Disney trip, but please take it very easy!

Amanda - Hang in there! You have quite a few eggs. There must be some that will be good! And like we're seeing here, they don't have to be perfect! Women get pregnant all the time with less than perfect ones. All you need is one little fighter! :)

tohavefun - Too funny on the pineapple core. I can just see you forcing it down ;) I love pineapple, but can totally see how the core aint' gonna be that delish :P . To answer your question, my stims are going fine as far as the mood is concerned. I don't feel too crazy yet. I am getting more emotional, though. Couple of days ago, I was actually overwhelmed by all you guys. When I see your signatures and read ALL you've been through, I'm deeply humbled. All of you are so strong and caring. You've experienced great losses and yet, instead of wallowing, you are here lending support to others. It's simply amazing...

MY UPDATE - Went to the second US this morning. Good news and Bad news, I guess. The good news is that I popped up a few extra eggies.
Here's what I got so far. 9 eggs on the Right with the biggest being 13 mm and smallest 5.5 and 5 eggs on the Left with the leading three all being 8 mm and the last two being too small to record. So, it's good that I have all these eggs. BUT, I'm incredibly concerned that there's such a big difference between the leading follicle and the rest of them. I feel, like they won't be able to catch up in time! :(
Thoughts? Experiences?

Thanks!

I used to catch cold during treatment too until I did acpuncture and my AP worked a whole month on my shoddy immune system. I fforget the reason, but it has something to do with the system that controls hormones and immunity sort of max each other out. I'm not being articulate here, but I totally sympathize. Colds in the summer blow.

msfixit- I will take it pretty easy and drink lots of fluids at disney. Last time I went it was pretty easy because of the electric wheelchair. They are so cool. I also bring my cane which I don't normally use. That way I am using less energy and am safer from falling. :)
As for the leading follie, I think I have heard that sometimes docs let that one go to concentrate on the rest. They try to get the majority the right size. hoping everything works out for you. You never know, the others might catch up to the lead.

Much Hope - I will be praying for your 2 to do well in PGD. Good luck!!

I just talked to my nurse about beta date. Next Wednesday is early but they will test me that day. She did warn me that the number could be really low. Your suppose to do another test 2 days later to compare, but she said I could do 2 test 2 days apart when I get back if I am positive. So my beta will be 9/3. :)

Kerpupples - Glad to hear you have a date for your FET. You will be PUPO next week.

Turtles - That is so unfair you get your Beta on 9/3. I am calling your RE and tell them they have to push it back to 9/5 with all the rest of us. So I am debating to POAS on 9/1 or 9/3. I figure 9/1 might be a little too early. 9/3 will be exactly 2 weeks after retrival so I would think I might see something then. I just don't know.
Disney World sounds like a lot of fun. I have never been. I haven't even made it to Florida yet. That is so cute that your son kisses your little guys goodnight. I posted the picture of my embies on my refrigerator so I look at them and tell them to grow at least once a day. I know I am a dork.

Misfixit - Sound like you have a good start. Those small ones will need to catch up. I have heard that only follies over 16 mm will have possible eggs. I guess your cycle will just depend on what your RE wants to focus on more, the bigger ones or the smaller ones. Good Luck.

Kate21 - Yey, you are back. We were missing you. Glad to hear that ER and ET went good.

Much Hope - Crossing my fingers that both your little embies are good. When will you have ET?

Amanda - How are you doing? Have you gotten an update on your little guys?

Stefanie - Waiting patiently for your beta results. We have been kind of in a slump so we need some more BFP's.

baby_crazy - How are you doing?

Hope everyone else is doing fine. I am just patiently waiting for time to go by so I can get off of work. This week is going by so slow. I know it is because I am so ready for 9/5 to be here. I am going to Kentucky Lake this weekend with some relatives so at least that will take my mind off of some of this. Then again my cousin has 3 little kids so it might remind me more of how infertile I am. Oh well, I will just keep thinking I am PUPO so it won't be too bad.

Chris - I am happy I get to sneak the test early. I checked my last cycle and it was the same time, 11 days after 3dt because of the fourth of july. :D My son just turned 5 and we have been ttc since he turned 1. He has been real good about not hurting my belly. Sometimes he would even push the plunger on the syringe to give me my meds. So I guess he felt he helped make the babies. My DH heard him telling a teacher that Mommy was home resting while I was on bed rest. She asked if I had the bug going around. Clayton said, "We are trying to put babies in her belly" I bet the teacher wasn't excepting that one. I look at the picture of my embies before I go to bed every night. I am better because last time I carried the picture around and showed everyone. :) Hope you have a good restful weekend with your family. How did your Java program go?

Post by stefanie »

Hi ladies.

I just got my BETA #1 results : 883
I'm in shock

I am someone who was told to get an egg donor and did not give up. I have very few eggs (low anti-meullerian hormone) and did not even respond to stims for my IUIs and 1st IVF.

I found a doc who did the DHEA. I got two eggs and 2 embies the 1st time
and this time I got 3 eggs and two embies.

We pay out of pocket for this stuff, and almost didn't do the cycle, because the odds were so low. It was sites like this and seeing that it often takes more than one try.

So this is for my sisters over 40. I will be checking back in. I'm nervous. We have far to go before I will feel fully relaxed or believe that this is even real. I describe this year as falling down a staircase over and over. It's really hard to believe the tides could have turned.

Thank you all for the nice postings. I know I am new, but I really appreciate it.

Stefanie - Congrats to you and your DH on your beta. YEH!!!!:D :D
Cheers is to all the underdogs!!!!
You must have a couple brewing in there.
By the way, what is DHEA. I have seen that on the board a couple of times lately.

Turtles - Java program did not go well. I dropped the class on Monday. I just didn't have the patience to re-learn all the stuff I had forgotten from the 1st class I took. We do eight week classes so I guess I will try and take it again in Oct.
Yes, I guess the teacher wasn't expecting your little boys comments. That is so cute. There is a lady on another IVF board that I attend. I think she is 12 weeks PG. She finally told her son that she was PG but that they had to keep it a secret for a few more months. Well not 5 minutes later he went running to the neighbor saying that Mommy had a secret and that he couldn't tell them for 9 more months. Well, the neighbors kind of figured it out from there. Kids are so adorable sometimes.

Hello Ladies,

Kate, weclcome back!! I am so glad to har that the staff was great and congrats on being PUPO.

Turtles- I bet your son will have a fantastic time at Disney. Hope the heat is too bad.

MuchHope- I bet your 2 are so strong and will come out of the PGD with flyingcolors.

MsFixit- I am sure those baby follies will be dying to grow to join the paryty with you lead follie.

Kerpupples - Woohooo FET next week you must be excited.

Val- I bet you can't wait for Friday to come and get hose embies back where they belong.

Hope all the 2week waiters are fairing well. Alot of BETA's next it will be a big and exciting week.

As for me I had my u/s and b/w this morning to start my cycle. As long as the b/w comes back ok I will start lupron tonight and stim meds tomorrow. I am feeling better about the cycle already. Last time I had 11 antra follicles total and my right ovary was quite smaller then my left. This time my right ovary is the same size as the left and has 13 can I say again 13 antra follicles. So I have 20-25 antra follicles this time around. Never know what will respond but it sure has helped the PMA. I don't get another u/s until next what a long time that seems.
Well back to work for me.

Have a great day!!
