Hello all

I had another scan today to check on the babies. Both are fine and growing at the same rate - they are both exactly the same!! They measured the same size as a singleton at 24wks 1 day - I'm not 24 weeks until thursday, so they are doing well.

They have moved too. They are no longer in bunk beds (transverse) they are now both head down, one on each side. Which would be great news except, the wretched placenta is still causing problems! Its in the way and still blocking the exit. They think it might even have joined together and become one huge one - its v.unlikely it will move.

this in itself is not a problem. I'm ok about a c/s now. However, my consultant told me if I was planning maternity leave it should begin straight away because its essential I rest between now and 32 weeks and do as little as possible (what joy!!).

They are worried I'll start bleeding and this could indicate I'm in premature labour.......I'll be whisked in to hospital and made to stay there until they are born. If this isn't incentive enough (not that I needed any!) to sit on my @rse all day then nothing will!

This will give me lots of time to sit and keep my posts up!!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok for a Monday...........

love nikola.xxx

ps did more shopping yesterday, bought two cotbeds, two cot mobiles and two "My Little Pets" cot blankets.........will order the Mountain Buggy this week and then I'm NEVER shopping again!!!!

Hi Nikola

How wonderful that your babes are doing so well. Has there been any indication as to what gender they are? Have you noticed anything? What do you think they are? I know you don't want to know what you are having.

It's a very good idea about cutting your work load down from now as it's just not worth putting yourself or your twins at risk. Thats why I haven't gone back to work after my last bleed I thought 'no way am I going to lose this baby just for work' so I stopped.

Are you still allowed to take your dogs for a walk? I seem to remember you were going to employ a dog walker. Good idea too.

Have you measured your tummy? Mine is 38.5''

Quite a subdued message from me today as I have got a splitting headache. I've had it all afternoon. Very annoying :(

hi Dagny

Thanks for your message! Your headache is probably down to a change in the weather - whenever it changes I get a headache too. We are due for some warmer weather this week and lots of sunshine which is totally opposite to the snow and ice we had last week! No wonder people feel ill!

I forgot to mention at todays scan I was convinced I could see a willy!! It could have just been my imagination. I'm sure I'm having one boy - my fertility nurse thinks I'm having one of each - but she said that after my 6 week scan!!

I am deffo taking things easier. Its not too bad for me because (a) its my own business and (b) I work from home, so I can take it easy. I went and put my feet up at 4.30 today and watched Ready Steady Cook!

I've made some enquiries and hopefully will have found Arthur and Jeremy a nanny. I'm waiting to interview people. Fingers crossed - this will be a huge weight off my mind.

I've only measured my tummy with toilet roll (not quite as scientific) - where do you measure from? All the way round? I'll do it and let you know.

I've had a really sad day because my friend Helen (I saw you posted for her - you lovely girl!) found out her 4th attempt was negative. I was so convinced it was going to be +ve. Its really shocked and upset me. I'm hoping she'll get through it and be back to have another go.

Right I'm off back to the sofa with Arthur & Jez.

Talk to you soon.

Hi Nikola

My headache the other day was a foul one. Made me feel really sick and quite ill. I suffer really badly from migrains too and am having a combination of migraines and general headaches. I get about one to two a day but usually controlled by paracetamol. I am trying not to take them but I end up in so much pain and my GP and midwife keep having to reassure me it's ok to take PK's. You are right about the weather affecting my headaches spring time is usually the worst time when it starts to warm up, so looking forward to that!! Mind you I would have gone through anything to have a baby and so my wish has come true and I am, but I hope the shock os sleepless nights and a screaming baby will shake those bloody migraines out of me. I've had them all my life since a toddler and it's about time they buggered off!

I have rambled haven't I? It would be perfect having one of each baby. I always thought I would one day but having the one is just as exciting. I am so excited to know what I am having. My scan is next week and I keep thinking it's a good idea to find out and then just as fast changing my mind. I think when it boils down to it I won't find out unless I do see a willy and it's so obvious. I didn't realise that they sexed a girl not by her 'doodah' but by seeing ovaries like two white dots on the scan. My friend had her twins sexed at her 20 weeker and they told her thats how they did it.

I have been watching far too much daytime crap on TV these past months. I will have to wean myself off it but my mum is coming for a week and she's not allowed to watch it as my dad is a typical male and controls her viewing so when she is here she makes the most of sitting down during the day an soaking up the TV. Like mother like daughter!

I wish my mum and dad would get a Nanny for their dogs (2 very naughty Weimaranas) as they never go away together or come to me together. My dad has been to mine twice in 7 years. Once for my wedding 4 years ago and last year for a funeral. Those dogs are sooooo spoilt. Bill wont go to sleep unless his bed is by the Aga and Pippa is just so contrary. They are so gorgeous though and I love 'em to bits. They have a life of reilly down in Devon with acres to roam around in. Mum and dad run holiday lets and some of the guests arrive with a phobia of dogs and leave trying to smuggle the dogs home with them! I hope you find a good Nanny for Arthur and Jeremy.

I measure my tummy with a tape measure round my middle where my belly button is, give it a go and let me know.

I was very sad to read Helen's post the other day. It's just so unfair why some people have to go through so much more than the next person. I hope she is coming to trems with it a bit more now. Will she go again do you know?

Take care. sorry for rabbiting. I am making the most of having the lap top and not having a headache!

Hi Tracey

I know, my post was painfully long. I have just read it and what a ramble!!! Oooops

I was going to ask you how Gabbie was getting on. I remember posting to you when you got her. They are just the most adorable dogs aren't they? My mum and dad bred them for a bit and selling them off was awful. We used to cry for hours when each one left home. They are just so human with such expression. Pippa has got a thing for my DH and I am not allowed to sit with him when we are in Devon - selfish cow! Poor Bill has gone a bit deaf now and you have to nudge him to tell him it's time to go out - Bless him, he is the one of the puppies I chose to keep but mum and dad have him as he is so big and clumsy and my house is not a Weimaraner house thats for sure. He'll be 11 this year - old fart!!

Have you see all the posts on the other side about dogs? They seem to be the best baby substitutes.

In response to your post on the other thread. I am sure your worries about what happened to little Oliver will be on your mind a lot as you get nearer those dates when your twins are that many weeks, I can't imagine what you must have gone through. I can only say that we are behind you every step of the way and keeping everything crossed that it will all be fine. You are so strong from what I gather and never lost your faith. It is unlikely to happen again isn't it? The doctors said it wasn't genetic so look forward and remember all of us 'Cyber Aunties' who think of him from time to time. I know I do.

I got a bit serious just then. Perhaps being an impending mummy is making me grow up!!!! Ooooh dear :?

See ya - I am trying to shove a bump down the air waves to you.

Love Dagny xx

Hello girls

I'm fine today thanks. Just back from my pedicure. Now before you think all I do is pamper myself all day  it is more of a necessity because I can't actually reach my toes anymore so I can't do it myself!! Besides its bad enough having to get your bits out without making sure 'everything' is looking its best - if you know what I mean!

I have found a nanny for arthur and jeremy - hurrah!!! I'm hoping she is going to start next week. The even better news is that she does cleaning too, so I can fire my crap cleaner and get her to clean AND walk the dogs!! My life is so complete........I just need to find a nanny to help with the children and I can continue my life of pampering!!!

(I'm joking about a nanny for the children - I've waited this long I don't want to share them with anyone - apart from dh, I suppose!!)

Dagny - poor you and your headaches. YOu must take paracetomol it can do no harm because it doesn't pass through the placenta so it doesn't affect the baby, it just will bring much needed relief to you. Keep drinking lots of water too - I find I get headaches when I'm dehydrated, but I guess you know this already!!

Why don't your parents bring the dogs with them when they come and stay? DH and I don't go anywhere unless Arthur and Jeremy are invited. We refused to go to my fathers for lunch because he told me they would have to stay in the car - so I told him to forget it, unless they were invited! He did give in and let them go in into the garden/utility room and he did also give them a bowl of dinner too! I should think so, he wouldn't expect me to leave the kids in the car, so why should the dogs be any different!

Dh's parents are great - his mum makes them their OWN special dinner - usually braising steak and vegetables - they are soooooooo spoilt! We went to visit them on Boxing Day and we had leftovers whereas arf & jez had aberdeen angus steak, with mash potato and lots of carrots (arthurs fav!)

I bet you don't ask to find out what you are having when you go for your scan. You'll be like me, and when it comes down to it, change your mind!! What would we talk about for the next few weeks if we knew what we were having - its more fun guessing. Besides I've decided mine are coming early, so I might only have another 10 weeks or so left to wait. It will soon pass!!

Bill is such a great name for a dog!

I don't know what poor Helen will do. She has two 7 cell frosties so I'm sure she'll have them put back. I think she is worried that there may be some implantation issues - I've told her to ask them about assisted hatching and see what they say. I'm hopefully going to see her on Saturday so can give her a big hug. She is so lovely and kind, its so unfair that the sh!t always happens to the nice ones.....look at Tracey and Traci - so kind to everyone and yet have so much trauma of their own to deal with.

Right enough wallowing - I'm off to find a tape measure in dh's toolbox (ooh-er! rude girl)

Love to you both.

hi Nik

OMG I must show my mum this post as she will think it's just great that she isn't the only one to pamper dogs like babies. Fantastic.

Bringing the dogs here is an option but we only have a smallish house and the dogs take up such a lot of room but the biggest problem is the travelling. Bill has done the journey to Surrey from Devon once when he was a puppy and Pippa hasn't been further than to the vet and that's a trauma in it's self. If we were desperate we would do it but dad will have to do something when the baby arrives. I want him to see the baby before it gets too big or goes to university.

So glad you have found a Nanny for Arthur and Jeremy. It's handy that she will clean as well. I used to be a Nanny for 13 years but only to children oh, and the odd family dog. I could never have a Nanny myself I know what they get up to! Not that I did - model Nanny was me!

Did your DH enjoy you rooting around in his tool box??

I can't believe that Tracey Barlow/Cropper is giving her baby away. I know, I know it's only a soap!

Take care

Thank you for your kind words - I am quite exhausted by the time I have read yours and Nik's posts - they are so long and by the end I have forgotten what was at the beginning! PG brain or what.
Thanks for the bump down the line - what with you and Nik passing bits of bump on you will both be able to see your toes again soon!
Gabbie is at her naughty stage - she went and ate the remainder of the crow today in the field - I deliberately steered away from it as I hate dead things especially the feathery kind (and no I am not veggy) but she found it - swiftly followed by a mole - also dead and half a rat - it was like the slaughter of the innocents over there!
Nik - A&J do it too don't they with bunnies I seem to remember.
wE are off to stay next weekend with Nik and Gabbie is coming too - not sure she will be invited again. Honestly what is the point of having dogs if they are too be left in the cold all the time - Gabbie got me through Oliver's death I can tell you.
As for me well the docs and specialists say it was unlucky before and see now reason why it should happen again. They said I am not doomed but neither should I think I am protected either - makes sense and most of th time am happy with this but every so often have a real nightmare time...... natural I suppose but with you two soon forgotten for a while!
I am getting crashing headaches if I don't drink enough or get too tired - every night this week so far! Awful aren't they and my boobs are back on v sensitive alert - go through phases - need to start investing in some scaffolding soon!
Like Nik I will be interested to see if you ask the sex! Won't know until the day I supppose. I have shrunk back down to 7.5 sheets not 8 - suppose it could depend on what time of day you measure???!!!!! Grasping at straws here instead of worrying.
Poor Helen - I spoke to DH about it again today and he said in the future we will look back and assuming we have our baby/ies then say that it was better to go though all the horrid times to get our dream than the nice ones and not get it if you see what I mean. Let's just try and get H through it.
Well me signing off - need to do some work and shout at BT Again so Nik's DH can get me sorted.
Got that measure out yet Nik?
Love

Hi Tracey

Just a quickie as my Mum is due to arrive an moment. Be careful what Gabbie eats which is easier said than done I know but Bill and his sister Nipper ate a dead something when they were 4 and it poisoned them both. Nip more than Bill and unfortunately she died. Bill just got through it. We suspect it had been dead for a while in the fields and was rotten. We lost Bill's mum (she was the most wonderful dog) when she ate a bird feeder net with nuts in, the whole lot, and the netting got stuck in her guts. It was terribly sad. They are always thinking of their stomachs and it was their downfall in the end. Bill eats all the apples in the orchard and spends the whole evening farting and groaning in tummy pain, he will never learn

I bet you and Nik will have a blast when you go to stay at hers. How do you know each other?

My baby is booting me now so I will get off the PC. Take care.

Love Dagny xx

Nik and I met through this site - ah how sweet - it has a lot to answer for - poor Nik.
We had a lot in common and used to write the most silly messages with someone called Sam who is not longer on the site - long story and I have to do some work! or try to!
Nik and I then communicated with Helen and still do - Nik lives near her so they have met up - started with Nik inviting us all to her wedding but I was in France - bugger so missed it - bugger again!!! We both have recruitment backgrounds and her DH supports Leeds as does she whereas mine supports Reading but they still get on! Nik and I are both mad and then found out her DH's parents live in Grantham down the road from me and in the street next to DH's (mine) and his ex and kids!!!! Small world. When I lost Oliver Nik went through hell getting me flowers to the hospital - another long story - phew nearly there!!! how sweet it was - they were from her and helen and respective DH's. Anyway when Nik when on her hollies recently she came over to drop off the lap top as I was babysitting her business (can't wait to babysit her twins) and we still got on - as did the two DH's so we are going up next weekend to stay and so I can get upset at how big her bump is and how mine looks like the size of a quails egg. Thanks re the eating advice - for dogs - the crow was quite fresh as was not there on monday when I took her - she ate most of it tuesday with no ill effects apart from terminal bad farting - worse than pessaries and will let you know today - she seems ok but has not eaten all her lunch - probably too full!!!

Tracey - I do like reading our life story in one whole paragraph!!! I like the bit about Dhs (mine - as in yours) ex wife and kids live down the road from Dhs parents (hers - as in mine)......talk about complicated!!!

Someone else once asked me how we knew each other - I think everyone assumes we have been friends since school. Obviously this could never have happened because you are sooooooooooooo much older than me!!!!

Dagny is right about the dogs eating habits. Arthur has been to the vets on many an occasion for eating bad things - sticks is what nearly killed him. He got one stuck in his bowl and had to have a life-saving operation. Well you can imagine what I was like. Dh didn't tell me till afterwards that the vet had told him it was 50-50!!

Arthur likes Rabbits - he then has the sh!ts for the rest of the week. You need to be careful cos of mixomotosis (sp??) Jeremy has a far more selective palate - you can tell your dh he turns his nose up at Pedigree treats!! He is very choosy.

Its Jeremy's birthday today - hurrah!!!! He is 4 today. So we are having a little birthday party for him later. I have bought him a Kong - now thats a good idea for Gabbie - you can put their favourite treats inside and they have to work out they need to roll it at a certain angle and the treats fall out.

when Arthur was a baby he wouldn't eat, so we used to put Peanut Butter inside the Kong to make a game and to get him to eat something. Dogs love Peanut Butter........so I'm told!

So do I - I've had real cravings for peanut butter since I've been pg, but I was told I'm not allowed it cos of the peanuts and potential peanut allergy!!

I'll go and have a bar of chocolate instead........

love nikola.xxxxxx
