bleeding and normal pregnancy

Post by kim14 »

Anyone have significant bleeding during 1st trimester? I filled several pads this am and the u/s revealed no problems and a strong hb. I am at 7 1/2 weeks.

Hi, kim14,
I have read many women in this forum experiencing such thing in 1st trimester. Sometimes it is a second sac trying to bleed out which is not being able to be seen on u/s. It can also be caused by irritation of the cervix. If your u/s looks good and HB is fine, don't worry much. But my personal advice will be to take it easy and try to have as much bed rest you can as that is what most of the ladies with excessive bleeding were told. You will be in my thoughts,
Annie

i had several days of on/off blood mixed with vaginal mucous. Never bright red, but I could tell there was blood in the discharge. This lasted until about 10 weeks; I am now 20 weeks and everything is fine. RE said when the uterus starts to expand and grow there are a lot of new blood vessels forming, and since they are small and weak at that point they are fragile and may burst from time to time.
I wouldn't be alarmed unless its is constant bright red blood. Even if it is brown they said that's ok b/c its old blood.
hope this helps!

kim14 ~ Hi! It sounds like we are going through the same thing. I started bleeding (bright red), about 10 days ago, and I am 8w3d today. Although most of the days it is like a light period, 3 days out of them it was gushing out of control. My doc told me the same thing yours is....everything looks good....no bed rest needed, but take it nice and easy. He said you could bleed for up to 12 weeks. I go for a u/s weekly. Good luck

Okay, I just joined the bleeding club. I woke up at 4 am with bleeding. I am totally freaked out. I am not sure if you guys know, but I did my FET in Northern Ca, but am monitored here in AZ by my OB. And of course, his office will be closed until Tuesday. If it gets worse, I will call them.
I also have a headache, and am quite scared.

Thanks ladies - kimmy i know what a nervous wreck you are - chances are its fine unless you are having really bad cramping - my dr told me am sickness should be a sign of reassurance. i was bleeding bright red in the am fri and again this am (today it is not as red and more brown) and it is quite unsettling. The nurse told me that it may be the beginning of a miscarriage but the dr said all looks good.

Thanks for your message. It sounds like your bleeding may be tapering off. I sure hope so. It is so unsettling. I am so scared to even go to the bathroom. Did you Dr. say why we would be bleeding? I don't like what your nurse had to say...:( That is my fear.

hey kimmy - he said its probably from ruptured blood vessels since he checked and the blood was not from the baby or the placenta and he said my cervix wasnt dialating. We have been cautiously optimistic since the bfp because almost all of our friends have had a miscarriage with their 1st child. Its sooo hard not to get too excited. We defintely wont be telling people till we get through this 1st trimester. i am just on pins and needles all the time - just want to know if its going to work or not! Did your bleeding stop - mine had for today anyway - dont think the vaginal inserts help!

Hi Kim:

I am having more brown now, and not bright red...however, I still feel crampy. I guess we will see what the weekend has in store for me.
You are so lucky you had the u/s, I bet you will be just fine!! I am scheduled to have another one on Wednesday, but will try to get it moved to Tuesday. I could go to the Hospital ER, but would rather not...unless I get lots of clotty red (sorry, tmi).
Baby dust and thanks for responding,
kim

hi Kim and Kim :)
Just a quick update. My last u/s ws yesterday, and the baby looked wonderful. Everything was great......except for me, I am still bleeding bright red....every day.....all day. I have had 3 episodes of hemmorhage type bleeding where it was literally running down my legs, and clots were coming out of me (sorry for tmi). The reason I am telling you is that you should not listen to the nurse. She is not doing your sonos, she does not see what the doc sees, and according to my high risk OB more women than not bleed during pregnancy. Some worse than others. Letting the nurse stress you out is not going to help at all. Believe me. I have been bleeding now for 13 straight days, and just when I want to rip all my hair out from frustration and fear, I go for another u/s and see that h/b and that gets me through to the next one. Hang in there ladies!

Thank you for sharing your story. I believe you mentioned that you are seeing a high risk Dr. I was wondering if I should also. I am 43...what made you decide to see a high risk Dr. vs a regular OB??
Kim
p.s. So far, just brown blood today..but it is everytime that I go pee.

kim14~ I am so glad to hear that your bleeding has subsided. I wish I could say the same. It is lighter today, and brownish, but this is usually what happens before I have a repeat of the hemmorhaging episode. Who knows, maybe this will finally be it. I know what you mean about your u/s, but with my last pregnancy, I was a wreck, and although they will not do weekly sonos, the nurse told me to come in whenever I want and she will take the 2 minutes to put the doppler on my belly to put my mind at ease. It is a long road isn't it..... hope you stay well.

kimmysq~ During my last pregnancy, I moved, and had to switch practices, the doctor I have now came recommended, and just happens to be a high risk doc. Truthfully though, I will be 38 this year, and he has already talked to me about the option of an amnio, and other testing for women over 35. I think if you can see a high risk, that that's the way to go, if everything is fine, and you just need him to be a regular OB great, but God forbid there is a problem, you now have him if you need him. He is the only one that could truly put my mind at rest about my bleeding situation. By the way, glad to hear that you are on the "brownish" side of things, hopefully your bleeding is ending. Good luck!!! Stay well!
