OHSS question for ghost/ivf nurse/anyone else

Post by shellbell78 »

I am 8dp3dt, in the last 2 days but especially today I have noticed that I am extremely bloated. My normally loose pants are very tight and my dh and I have noticed my stomach is sticking out a lot more than usual. I haven't had any problems breathing but I am slightly uncomfortable. I just wondered if OHSS could just now be showing up. My doc had warned me that it might be bad this time with my levels but I felt fine after the ER. So could it show up now or could it be a pregnancy symptom? Thanks in advance for your response, it is nice to have someone on here that knows about these things.

Sounds a lot like OHSS due to rising hCG. hCG stimulates your spent follicles (called "corpora lutea") to produce a hormone that causes the arteries to become very permeable, allowing fluid to enter the abdomen ("third space").

If it continues to worsen, then that's probably what it is.

Your doctor might recommend protein, Gatorade, give you IV fluids (or protein), or might even prescribe Cabergoline to arrest the vascular permeability.

Guess what would cause the rising hCG?

If it is rising levels of hcg from being pregnant would it show up on a hpt yet? I know I shouldn't be but I have been taking hpts and so far they have all been negative. I used a first response this morning. Could it still really mean I'm pregnant?

If it keeps getting worse, you may not need the HPT. On the other hand, the + will help to confirm it's OHSS.

Keep your clinic fully informed.

Of course, I am no MD, and even if I was, I cannot diagnose OHSS over the internet. I'm just saying it sounds like it. Diagnosis is all up to your physician.

You did not receive any hCG "boosters", right? Just the trigger and no more?

A booster could do the same thing.

No I didn't do boosters this time because they said that my prog level was up to a certain point. I am not sure what that point was but instead of the boosters they had me start using the estrace suppositories along with the prometrium suppositories. Should I call the clinic tomorrow or wait till Tues if it doesn't worsen? Thank you for all of your help.
