Hi Pauline,

I did DE in January of this year at a clinic in Czech and am now pregnant with twins (they are to arrive next month)!!!.

Which clinic did you contact? The one I went to was in Zlin (http://www.crmzlin.cz/en/page/100.introductory-page/) and it was great. I didn't have to wait too long - but perhaps that was the time of year??? We managed to get a cancellations so we were there within a month but otherwise I think our wait was going to be 2-3 months.

I found it quite easy, as compared to regular IVF and the clinic staff were quite helpful. The cost at the end of it all (including treatment, drugs, flights and accommodations) was $10,000 Canadian which would be about 5,000 pounds. Anyway, they are worth contacting to see what their wait list is and how quickly you can get in. If you want anymore information, please PM me and I'll answer as much as I can.

Take care and best of luck!

Hi

Thanks Kelly for the info. Will try calling the clinic.

Carolyn, Ceram are probably trying to catch up with all their emails (as I can understand), but don't they know we are waiting for them

Good luck with the camping this weekend. We have nothing near as exciting planned - we are hoping to do a car boot sale on Sunday so I'm hoping for good weather as the previous 2 weekends were forecast not good and last week was, so we could have done it then. Oh well. Plus, will be trying to pin down DH to an answer on what we are doing, so far though he is making all the right noises as regards DE. I just need to learn to be a bit more patient though!

Hi ladies - heard back from Ceram - there wait list is now 6-9 months so looking at other options - think will look at Zlin where Kelly had success and Barcelona .. why is this so difficult??

Found a couple of clinics in Uk with wait list around 6 months but of course at premium costs

Did you all have good weeknd?

Kelly - you can't have long to go now - when do they expect you will deliver??

Hi ladies!
I am back from a month-long holiday and just checking in to see how everything is going --
Kelly - you are getting so close, that is so great!! when is your due date?
Carolyn & Pauline - best of luck finding a clinic that suits your needs and feels right. It isn't easy. I had a good correspondence going with IM to get information when I first started looking around. They are really very organized and got right back to me. In the end, we spoke to our RE and chose ours because our RE recommended it and the price was something we felt we could manage. The wait list is also 6 months after the 1st consult.

In fact, our 1st appointment is finally here and we are flying to Prague for the weekend and will meet with the doctor on Monday -- I'll keep you posted on how things go. Wish us luck!

xx Summer

Summerbaby - good luck with the appointment! I hope all goes well. I am sure it will and then hopefully they can line up protocol and get you going!

Carolyn - sorry to hear that the wait list at CERAM is so long but hopefully you'll have luck with the Zlin clinic or another one.

I am told that I could go any time from 35 to 38 weeks and I am 33 weeks right now so I could have these babies as early as 2 weeks from now and as long as 5 weeks from now. Hard to believe. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and Baby A weighs 3.5 lbs and Baby B weighs 4.5 lbs so they are good sizes at this stage. I'd like them both above 5 lbs when they are born which won't be a problem for Baby B but hopefully Baby A can pack on the weight in the next couple of weeks!!

Thinking of you guys and wishing you luck getting your clinic appointments and schedules set up!

JenB -- so nice to hear from you. It is me, amy from the over 40s...- I had to change my name ...Believe it or not, but when I logged on yesterday I was thinking of you and hoped to get some news about how you guys were doing -- Thanks so very much for all of your wonderful support that you've given me and so many of us on this board. It is a difficult decision to make, to decide to keep going or to concentrate on life after IVF and then rediscover your happiness and be content. I do hope things are going better with DH and his job and that you are also well. From my heart, I wish you guys all the best.

kelly - can you tell me how you decided to go to Zlin? Did you have any trouble calling and finding someone who speaks English?

carolyn & pauline - any decisions yet about where you'll try?

have a great day,
xx summer

JenB - so great to hear from you again. I hope that you and your hubby enjoy life without IVF - it sure is stressful so I am sure you are already noticing that you can enjoy life again!!! I am thinking of you and wishing you all the best!

Summer - I decided to go to Zlin because I had a friend of a friend who had gone and reported good things. I also found some forums that discussed overseas clinics and those forums reinforced what I had already heard from my friends so we were comfortable with that. Dr. Anna and a couple of the nurses speak great english so that was not a concern. I would email Dr. Anna first (his contact informaiton is on the website I believe) and tell him that you are interested in speaking with him - he is very nice! I don't know what the waiting list is now but I got in quite quickly since I had done IVF several times previously they were able to take my previous test results (blood work, etc) and use that as part of my protocol at Zlin. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Carolyn, any luck hearing back from them at Zlin or another clinic?

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Hi ladies

Jen - thanks for your support it is appreciated and I can imagine how difficult it must be to come on the boards when you have made the decision to move on with your lives ((())) xx

Kelly - heard back from IM and one in Brussels that said bring your own egg donor - doh could do that in UK so why would i want to travel to do it!!! Nothing back from Zlin yet though or another couple I contacted - do they not realise I need the info to make an informed decision!!!!

Amy - no decisions yet - still waiting for info

Puline - how are you??

Thanks so much for the info and updates!

I'll give feedback about the clinic we are going to when I am back on Tuesday.
If you are interested in looking at their website Carolyn, it is http://www.pronatal.cz/en/index.php
I don't find their website very informative at all, but you can write to Prof. Dr. Mardesic, who is the head of the clinic, using the contact page and he answers very promptly.
One of the headlines is "hotel", they have a clinic owned hotel on their property or close by where you can stay over for not a lot of $$ -- but this link seems to be only in German or Czech...??

Have a great weekend and I'll be in touch next week.

Hi everyone,

Well, it looks like we have come to a decision :P and have decided to check out a clinic in the States near my sister. I will be booking the meeting for mid November as I'm away in Ireland for September & in October DH can't get away from work. It is more expensive than the clinics in Europe but my DH wants to go there and I'm not going to argue!! and if we do go ahead with it then I can stay with my sister for as long as necessary.

I'm relieved that we have made the decision but now also nervous. I'm hoping for a great meeting and that DH will say yes to the treatment.

I never did hear back from the Zlin.

Carolyn, how are you doing?

Kelly, how are you, not long now until you meet your babies.

Jen, thanks for your good wishes and I wish you all the best as you leave the IVF journey behind.

Summerbaby, where are you in the DE process?

Well, best go as have to clean the house and then pack for our trip to Ireland tomorrow.

Will hopefully be able to log on when at my sisters house to keep up with what is happening.

good morning!
how is everyone today?

kelly, if you don't mind my asking -- what kind of information did they ask about you at your clinic to help choose a donor for you? My clinic didn't ask for much outside of basic information and was just wondering how much detail yours went into?

pauline - sounds like you have a plan - I think there are some clinics in the US that offer plans similar to IM, where you have the option to pay for 3 tries, and would then get some $$ back if you don't get pregnant within that time --
Sounds really nice that you'll be around family during your treatment --
Enjoy your time in Ireland this month and keep in touch when you can!

carolyn - any news yet from Zlin? There is also another clinic in Prague called Pronatal Plus and they supposedly have very short waiting times, but it costs quite a bit more than other clinics in Prague.

After a lovely weekend in Prague, our 1st meeting went well. We liked the clinic and the doctor and now the waiting for a donor begins. They said they'd contact us no later than the end of February, with tmt beginning in March...
In the meantime, I'm to have a hysteroscopy (sp?) to make sure everything looks good inside -

So after 3 ivf disappointments, we are actually very hopeful and optimistic that this is going to be our time!

Pauline, congratulations on making your decision. It sounds as though things are settling into place which is great! And November will be here in no time at all!

Summer, glad to hear that your meeting went well and that you enjoyed your weekend in Prague! Our clinic told us we could be as specific as we wanted but we would have to balance that with how long we wanted to wait for a donor - so it was really up to us. We had some criteria that was essential and then some that were 'nice to haves'. But in the end they matched us with someone that sounded very similar to my characteristics which is great! I'll let you know shortly how close the match was when we meet our little ones!!

I had my doctor's appointment yesterday and he told me that I could go as soon as 2 weeks from now. The babies' weight gain seems to be plateauing which if it is the case will mean that he'll suggest we go ahead at 36 weeks instead of waiting until 38 weeks. He said their development is absolutely fine so there is no concern with leaving them in there for longer to develop! I am super excited but nervous at the same time.

Hope that everyone is having a great day!
