Update - We are home and I am so so proud of my miracle son!

Post by bubblymichelle »

Hi Everyone,

Well just to let you all know Alex Mitchell arrived on Wednesday 04/02/04 weighing in at 11lb 5oz at 14:27.

I had a rough time, I went into hospital on the Sunday and was induced, I had 4 gels but by the Tuesday I was only 1cm dilated and in agony. Well they wanted to do a 5th gel but I couldn't take anymore and said no. On Wednesday I had a c section. I couldn't believe it when they showed me my beautiful son I cried and cried. The surgeon who was doing the section said he couldn't believe that I had been through the inducing procedure when he said I was having a big baby. He said there would of been no way I could of born the baby myself and if I had of, there would of been trouble I would of either got the head out and then the shoulders would of got stuck, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Had a few problems after I had Alex, I was doing well but then when we went back up to the ward I started to lose a lot of blood. In the end I collapsed and all the doctors come rushing. I had to have 3 blood transfusions and was on numerous drips. Luckily I am now on the road to recovery and have my lovely son to look after.

I can't believe this day is here, I never thought I would see this day to be honest but here I am girls and so so proud.

I best go now because I am upstairs and Alex is sleeping downstairs and I am a little on tender hooks.

I will try and be about as much as possible but as you know I won't be about as much as usual but that doesn't mean I am not thinking of you all.

Take Care All.
Love
Shell.

Told you so told you so - congrats!!!!!!!!!! SAID IT WAS A BOY - how happy am I - very proud of you two!!! I have this big smile on my face - either that or I am imagining the pain you went through. Strange for me as Oliver was due at that time - just a few days before - they could have been born together but not the same size- ouch!!!!
I am thrilled and you really enjoy it - come on when you can but not too much as I am setting up the business at the moment and have not caught up with your postings - and Nik has to hurry before she has her twinnies
Take care and lovely name

hi shell

Its good to have you back on here - Tracey and I are having to resort to writing notes to ourselves in order to keep our posts up!!!

You must be thrilled and I'm so pleased everything turned out ok. How was the c/s? Any tips before I have mine?? Did it hurt? Could you feel anything? Were you awake?? So many questions!!!

I'm sure you will have far better things to do all day than post on here - lucky you!!!

Give Alex a huge kiss from his cyber aunties!!!

Well done Shell
so pleased to see you are home and on the mend with your new miracle baby boy Alex.
If you do get a chance can you give your rundown on the c-section, can't decide whether to just opt for one or not.

Hope you and Lee are settling in to family life, soooooooooooo pleased for you all.

With love

Hi Shell,

:D Well done and many congratulations to you and Lee on the birth of Alex - I bet you are chuffed to bits :D

It's awful what you have had to go through, but I'm so glad it sounds like you are on the mend. At least the waiting is over and your beautiful son is with you - ah well, how wrong was I about you having a girl?! and OMG, what a size!!!!!

If you have read my post, you will know that Sam was born the day after Alex - how scary is that, and all that talk about getting my bag ready or not! LOL. He'll be in hospital for a bit and we're back and forward all the time, but he's worth it!

Anyway, Take care of yourselves.
Lots of love

Well done Shell.......but by God you kept us all waiting!

It sounds as though you've had quite a time of it, and 11lb 5oz, it's enough to make ours eyes water......Alex was almost double Dan's birth weight (a dainty 6lb 1oz.....thank god!).

Massive Congratulations to you and your hubby. Take care and enjoy your little bubs.

Many many many congratulations to you and your DH on the safe arrival of Alex Mitchell!

After what sounds like a horrendous few days in hospital (poor you - 4 gels?!) he is just what the doctor ordered!

Glad you are all home now, where you belong, getting to know each other. I hope you are recovering well and loving every minute of doing the best most rewarding jobs in the world, being a Mummy and Daddy!

:D Dear Shell,

I am thrilled to hear your news!! I bet you're both soooo pleased that it's all over now. What an absolute whoppa you had there - everyone always said that he would be big, but THAT big!!! WOW!!

Your story sounds so much like mine - induction which didn't work, followed by a c-section (which I thought was fab), followed by haemorraging. It's not nice and certainly isn't pretty - so I can sympathise with you totally about what you're going through.

Take it easy now that you're home. I feel fine in myself (the 5 units of blood really helped me feel much better as I'm sure your's did), but I think it does take it out of you having a c-section.

I look forward to an update soon,

LOL Alison xx

P.S. It's such a relief to be off that roll-call at last !!
