DH and I live in Southern California and are going through our first cycle of IVF/ICSI. We've been ttc for over two years. DH is an xray tech and doctors suspect that that may play a role in our male factor infertility. Insurance only covered half of my hysteroscopy and the antibiotics that followed. This is turning out to be a very expensive journey for us.
I've been lurking for a little while and very grateful for all the information that I've been able to gleen from this site. I went from the gal who was deathly afraid of needles (passed out once donating blood!) to furiously jabbing myself morning and night. I finished a week of Lupron and am currently on my fourth day of Follistim/Lupron/Menopur/Heparin (five/six shots a day) and feel like a human pin cushion. I have a ring of bruises on my belly and can't find a clean spot for the next shot!

Last week, there was a local story about a woman who was arrested for dumping her naked baby girl in a dumpster, I cried. Some of us mortgage our homes and steal from our 401Ks while the ingrates smoke their crack and drop their babies in the alley like they're a burden... makes me sick.
Anyway, glad to share our journey with you all and looking forward to making some good friends -- I'm sure we will need your support!
Team Babymole!*
*Why Babymole!? DH's nickname is Mole, given to him by our African Grey parrot (long story). DH brought home a homeless kitten one night and the kitten had the same blue eyes as DH so I blurted out "Lil' Mole!" and the name stuck, cat is now 4 yrs old (you should see the puzzled looks we get whenever we visit the vet -- he's not very little, a 17 pound Maine Coon mix). So I guess when we have a baby (or babies if we are so blessed), we will gasp and say "Baby Mole(s)!"
