IM shot question...

Post by lynniecat »

I did my trigger tonight and forgot to pull back and check for blood. Of course I remember as I am pulling the needle out. I did the shot in my thigh muscle as I have done 2 times before.

Anyway so guess what??? Blood spurts when I pull the dang needle out. The one time I forget to check.....geez!

So I called in and the Dr on call said it probably was fine, but that I can have my HCG checked in the am to make sure all went well!

Anyone else do something as lame as me???

Not to worry. They usually prescribe more hCG than necessary for ovulation.

The usual dose is 10,000. 5,000 works just as well, and 2,500 is almost as good.

I've seen 1200 work just fine.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

I did the same exact thing with my first ivf hcg shot (or rather, my husband did!) and I worried about it just like you. I assumed we hit a blood vessel when we saw a good amount of blood, but now I am doing IM progesterone shots every day for my fet, and even when I pull back and don't see any blood sometimes I still bleed after the injection. So you didn't necessarily hit a blood vessel. I think that we are bound to hit a vessel on the way in or out that will bleed a little bit after the shot, but you probably were not injecting directly into one.

I was coming off a 12-hour shift and needed to get my subQ Lupron. I was tired and wasn't looking and shot myself right into a varicose vein!! BIG BRUISE!!!
It is just now starting to fade and that was about a week ago!
