Ok, I see you are doing the protocol with BCPs. I know for me they said I could start them up to 7 days after my periods started. Typically they have you start on day 3, but in my case we were trying to decide which protocol to go with (with or without the pills) and the doctor wanted a few days to talk to some of the other doctors about my case.

So I think you are fine to start them tomorrow or whenever. Try to get more details when you talk to them again. I would have to have you miss a month!

Hi. I also go to SG in annandale. My dr. is Greenhouse. The staff is amazing out there. I am also part of the shared risk. I have already done two ivfs, both negative :( But because i have one frozen embryo, i have to use it before i can start a fresh cycle. Which is really sad as i do not think one will work given that the previous two has not and we transfered 2 each time. Ah well. I am handling it well and just trying to get to the next round. Keeping my fingers cross.

Does anyone know a good accupunturist in the area?

I went to the Shady Grove facility in Columbia, MD. I wasn't too keen on my Dr. but the nurses and staff were great.. very organized and knowledgeable. I had a good experience with them up until my 2nd IVF retrieval. It seems as though something happened to me in the procedure and they herniated a disk in my back. I was in terrible pain and couldn't do x-rays or any real medication due to the fact that they treat you like you may be pregnant. Once I got the negative test I had an MRI to find out that I sure enough had a herniated disk. I made several attempts to contact my dr. and let him know but didn't get a return call until I pushed it and I called the Rockville office. Apparently they had the impression that I was trying to get money or something and pretty much denied that it occurred in the surgery. I know that is an extreme case but thought it was worth sharing. I ended up changing doctors because I didn't feel like I could go back based on the way my dr. handled the situation.

Wow! That is amazing. What could have happened? Do you think you were dropped on the floor? How strange! Sorry that happened! Was this in Rockville?

Yes, it happened in Rockville. I don't know if they dropped me or were just really rough or maybe nothing happened and it was a fluke. I was more upset about how they treated me once they knew I was injured. I was with this place for about 1 year and as you know.. you begin to know the office staff very well and I just didn't feel like they treated me right! My doctor didn't do the retrieval but he did the transfer and saw the pain I was in when I came in... basically blew it off. I left multiple messages after that and he never returned my calls. Like I said I was impressed with the facility overall but they handled this situation very poorly. Months later I spoke to some staff and they basically acknowledged that the lack of communication with me was because they were concerned that I would sue.. unreal huh?

Yes, that is crazy! May I ask who you doctor was? Or rather who did your ER. My RE is Dr. Obrien, she is wonderful and I can not believe she would not call me back unless she had some lawyer tell her not to....but that would just be sad.

Seems they would tell you if they dropped you. I have had a herniated disc in my neck. Not sure what from, but it did happen after a surgery. I mean I noticed it after the surgery. But I spend years looking through a microscope, and was in a rear end collision and had ridiculously large boobs (the surgery was actually a reduction).

So I was never sure if something happened on the table OR if things were just made worse from the surgery and having the neck tipped to get the breasts up to operate (they tip you to get the chest propped up).

But now I have back issues and all kind of other joint pain and so who knows.....

But in your case, if you never had a back problem or any pain and immediately upon waking you had serious pain, I just don't see how it could be from anything else! So weird.

Now, not that I want to make this in anyway equivalent, but my dog has to have x-rays and thus has to be sedated (he is a big doberman). I noticed that evening he had a big lump on his side. Took him to the vet and it was a hematoma (large cyst filled with blood). They said it would be from trauma to his side and asked what he was doing the day before -- different vet, same office and had not looked to see he just has x-rays. So I told him and he acted weird cause it was obvious they has dropped him or slammed something into him. But of course they would not tell me that. My guess is it was a tech as I know the vets well.

I think its a CYA thing in these cases. Luckily we got the lump to dissolve, but it really bothered me.

I would have called your nurse and tried to get an answer from her. They should tell you if there was an issue right????

I go to ER in Rockville on Saturday so I hope nothing bad happens!! I actually work in a building on Shady Grove road right across the street from the clinic so its maximum convenience for me!

I also am a Shady Grove girl. I was based out of Rockville, but I actually live in Frederick, so I did a lot of my monitoring there. I had Dr. Sagoskin as my primary, but also saw Dr. O'brien and Esposito in Frederick. I loved all of the doctors and nurses at Shady Grove.

They were very understanding and caring with me. After my BFP on my second IVF attempt, my mother had a stroke and subsequently passed away. I was 8 weeks pg at the time. The care they took with me was very impressive.

I wish you all success and pray for your miracles to happen.

I think my incident was an isolated incident... and I really don't want to throw anyone under the bus. My doctor did not do the retrieval but he has been referred to by other patients as Dr. Doom and Gloom... but he didn't do the retrieval, he did the transfer. I don't know what the doctor's name was that did the retrieval but it wasn't either of the doctors from the Columbia office... I would have to refer to my records. I also tried to contact my nurse and every message that I left her regarding this went unanswered. Later I found out that she gave the messages to the doctor to handle and he didn't call me back.

Excluding that issue.. which I know is big... they do have a very organized program and a great reputation and if you like your doctor I would not hesitate to use them! My best advice is to follow your gut instinct!

Hi girls, not meaning to crash your board, but I'm in Md, too-

KBEAR- soo excited for you 27weeks hi hi hooray!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

as for places in Maryland - I go to University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore
http://www.umm.edu/fertility/assisted.htm

I have been more than pleased with both my treatment and, of course- successful BFP my very 1st go.
The doc i was with, Dr Udoff, has moved to GIVF in fairfax,VA a couple of months ago.
http://www.givf.com/aboutourpractice/me ... .cfm#Udoff ,

but was also treated by (and in ER/ET with) Dr McClamrock and I felt safe and respected as a patient - will also be delivering at UMMC - I think that as it is a teaching hospital, explaining what's going on is sort of 2nd nature

I wish you all the best for successful treatment and attaining your goals!

cheers
