Dr. Silber

Post by ava »

Has anyone heard or had any experience using Dr. Silber out of the St. Louis Fertility Center. He seems to have good success rates and supposidly handles tough cases but he does not offer a shared risk.

Hey Ava.
I used Dr. Silber for one fresh IVF and one FET. The fresh cycle resulted in a BFN. The frozen cycle resulted in a BFP of twins but m/c @ 9wks. He is a good dr but be prepared for ALOT of stress if your experience is anything like mine. I had a lot of road blocks along the way. Things like going to get my blood drawn and they didn't have the order so I would have to wait for the office to open for the order to get faxed. I would go have an ultrasound that oops, they forgot to schedule when I called (this was a St. Luke's error but still frustrating!). Just a whole lot of things like that, for both cycles. It just seemed like Silbers office and St. Lukes were never in sync. I was hoping the first cycle's problems were just a fluke but nope, the second time around was just as frustrating.
I am now at the beginning of a cycle with SIRM (Dr. Ahlering). I don't have much to tell yet but I really like him so far. He does all his own ultrasounds throughout the cycle which is far different than Silber. With Dr. Silber, you see him once for the consultation and one more time at the transfer (and actually for one of mine he wasn't even there, he had to go out of town). So from what I hear about SIRM, care seems to be much more personal.
And yes, Silber does not offer shared risk. He told us he doesn't believe in it because he thinks it should just be done right the first time so you don't have to worry about it again. As you can see that didn't work for me! Number wise, if I'm not mistaken, SIRM and Silber are about the same.
Hope this helps.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
