hi there all.... i guess the kidos are keeping everyone busy.. us too

kim- Congrats on Braeden walking... i bet they keep yopu going....as for us, we are done nursing... it was bitter sweet... but we've been done for about a week... and my BBs are still ouchy... i've had a couple of other health things going on... so just want everything to be better.. he is sleeping better (other then last night) he has a cold, and was up all night on and off... but i'd say he's sleeping through 75% of the time... still not a good eater, and will only drink the vanilla milk... but it's milk on BB milk.

as for the rutt... think of it as a routine... and i try and do stuff with the kids.. we have a parent-tot group that meets at a different park in the area every week.. and we spen a lot of our time in the pool... gavin loves it, and thinks he can go without being held... he has learned how to climb out of his floating thing... so we have to hols him, or watch him in his floaty like a hawk. no so fun for me, but the kids love it.

activities that are cheep and usually have the stuff laying around... a ziplock bag with pudding in it... they can play with it, and "draw" with their fingers by moving the pudding around in the ziplock... do they color... crayons and a huge sheet of paper gavin likes the traditional style of the jumbo crayons, not the new tadoodle kind... i think that they are still too big to hold well... sand kids love it, mom Hate it.. we also do kitchen stuff.... put crackers in a ziplock (i live for ziplocks) and let them smash them with a spoon... (use the crumbs for dinner, or use graham crackers for topping on yogurt or pudding).. finger paint (color wonder) if they do not stick their fingers in their mouth all the time.. sidewalk chalk... i just try and do something when i can... i'll be making dinner and give them a project to do to help..
do you have a little pool?? those with even a tiny bit of water are fun, and add bubbles (if they like them) and they think it's great... as for bubbles... do they chase bubbles?? my kids all love them, and gavin tries to catch them... it's so cute.. they have a cool little bubble machine (so you are not light headed from blowing...

enjoy your time off, and enjoy the summer, take care...

Hey Colleen--thanks for the ideas! I love the ziplock ideas....will do one of those this afernoon!

We do have the crayons, the bubbles, the pool, etc. They put EVERYTHING in their mouths, so fingerpaints out for now. Although, I've let them finger paint with pudding a couple of times--a big hit! A big mess! We have the toddler crayons that wobble...the kids just try to eat the crayons, so I've been holding off for now...I just figure they're not ready?(Although, I do have the jumbo ones too--I'll try and see what happens!) We have the bubble machine too, but my kids try to put their fingers in it and jam it up!  They're such stinkers...so I have to hold it up high, so they don't hurt themselves (but can still reach the bubbles, kwim?) OH well, I think two toddlers are pretty dangerous, if you ask me!

hi there...we've finally setteled after a BAD week....Gavin is getting his two bottom teeth, the ones next to the front and center ones, and he's getting his molars... and has been so miserable.. i thought that it was his teeth, molars can be really bad, but to find out that he had a double ear infection, and the one ear drum ruptured, and he had/has drainage out of that ear.... he was screeming and was up all night for two nights in a row... talk about feeling like a bad mommy....he had all the "signs" of the ear infection, but they can also be the signs of teething too...but he's on the mend..

hope that you are fining things to do... gavin doesn't put nearly anything in his mouth (i think that is why he doesn't eat any food either) so we can do the paints and stuff... altho he hates to get messy, and doesn't like the feel of squishy stuff.... i also can not find any more of the jumbo crayons... you would think with the school supplies out, but the ones that we have are old old old... from my 7YO DS... do they still make them? i was also going to say that gavin loves a muffin tin with like gold fish crackers... he will sit there and play and snack and put the fish into the different ones... the little muffin tin is good too... also another thing that we do that is mess free (well, water) but the brown craft paper (i have a big roll of it) put some on the floor, and a little tray with water... we dip the truck wheels and make tracks, feet prints, hand prints, and sponge shapes and the older kids use a spay bottle and lay something down and sray the top to leave a dry image, like the letters from the fridge,. because the brown paper changes color...

you having two has got to be hard, i give you so much credit... i can not imagine.... so hats off to you..

take care

colleen--I love the ideas! We tried the muffin tin today....we ate our snacks out of them---then the kids beat the tins with a spoon! I'll have to get some of that brown butcher paper...sounds like fun!

Sorry to hear about Gavin's ear infection. I know what you mean--both E and B have been pulling on their ears a bit, but they are getting teeth. We don't have any other signs, so I'm holding off for now. Hope Gavin feels better soon!

Tasha--are you out there? How's your princess?

Hi Colleen!

We should just call this the colleen and kim thread, because everyone else has disappeared!  I hope they check in soon...I miss hearing from everyone.

I started to chuckle when you mentioned gavin saying "hi" to everyone! Ellie says "bye" to people all the time! She usually only does it as people are walking away. So, at the park the other day, I thought she was SO smart because she would say bye to families that were packing up their stuff and leaving! But, today, at the grocer, she said "bye" to people walking down the aisles....the same people...aisle after aisle...

I go back officially in two weeks. I've been going in to work here and there to get my room ready. It's given the kids a chance to get used to the babysitter again, and it's given my parents a chance to "refresh" their skills! I'll be working in the mornings this year, so I'm looking forward to having the rest of the day with the kids! (Although, I dread the early wake up....yeah, i've been up early since the kids were born, but I wasn't showered and ready for work!)

We're dealing with teeth issues too. Both kids have been messing with their ears, off and on, for a while now. No fevers, no snot, nothing. I think they must be getting some of their molars. It's taking forever though! Both kiddos are talking more and more--Ellie can say ball, mama, dada, doggy, shoes (soos!), hi, bye, yeah, uh-oh....maybe more? Braeden has his own funny language, so we call him dutch! He'll babble on and on, with a lengthy monologue, but we don't understand him! He does say most of the same words as ellie, but he doesn't do shoes, yeah, or uh-oh. We've been exploring outside a lot lately, since the weather has been so mild. They love touching flowers and bushes. Ellie tried to run into the street the other day! They've also started to get into coloring (when not eating the crayons), building with big boxes, and putting lids on things. Braeden spent about 10 minutes the other night, trying to get a lid on a pringles can! Seriously!

Oh, and they still love going after the dog food!

Enjoy your days with "just Gavin"...I bet he'll love having one on one time with you! I looked for your pics, but didn't see them. :( We have a few new ones on there too!

Hi Ladies,how is everyone?

Sorry ive not posted in a while,i do read you all and mean to reply then stuff gets in the way

Collen,im sure Gavin will love the one on one time with you.Im glad his ears are better, nothing worse than an ill grumpy baby, when you know theres nothing you can do to help..As for the talking Jack isnt saying much that we understand, just lots of baby talk, although he always saying yum yum when he knows he's about to get fed!!

Kim,im sure you'll get used to the early morning starts :) I hear ya on the teeth issues,Jack had 8 by the time he was 7 months, then no more till now and we got a few coming through at once,so im dealing with runny nose, touch of diahorea(sp),and a bit of screaming with lots of broken nights   Hopefully they'll be through soon..

How is everyone else,Tasha,Nance,Ellie,Racheal...everyone!!!

As for us we are fine, just the teeth issues, hopefully that'll be resolved soon,he started walking just before his birthday, its sooo cool.We had a lovely birthday party, weather was lovely,we had bouncy castle, face painter, lots of footballs on the pitch, was a really good day.Cant believe my baby is one already..time flies..

take care of youselves and your gorgeous babies..love nicola..xxx

hi there girls.. i did manage to post a few pictures today... ran out of time yesterday...

good to hear from you nicola- glad that you and jack are doing well, and his party went well... sounds wonderfull... it's hard to believe the time has gone be so quickly.. glad that jack is walking around, and i'm sure getting into trouble.... i hear you on the sleep broken nights... and now gavin wakes at 5:00am and wants to run around...

kim-that's cute the ellie says bye... get them together and they would be hours of hi and bye...two more weeks... enjoy the time.. how do you think the kids are adjusting? good luck on the early wake up... gavin has been getting me up at 5:00ish.. i jump in the shower then, otherwise i could end up not getting one all day...way to early.. gavins molars looked like marbles stuck under his gums.. they are so swollen and red.. the poor kiddo... gavin says the hi, byebye(as he waves), ball, mama, nice, kitty (issy), uh-oh(his favorite, as his throws everything on the floor), car, juice, ears. he is also starting to point to his body parts when asked, and loves showing off his belly.. i love this stage as much as it;s hard.. it's fun to just see their minds grow by leaps and bounds.. it's fun when you see them "get it"..do E and B still "talk" to each other?? does it seem like they understand each other?

we love the blocks too and thats funny about the pringles can.. the last few days gavin has been glued to his mower... the most annoying toy, it talks and is very loud as he pushes it around..

hope that everyone else is well, ans talking good care hi to everyone, drop in a line to let us know how you are all doing

Hi Girls,

It's been a while since I have been on here....sorry!
Everyone sounds good. Colleen, you have some great ideas for activities. They sound like fun. Glad Gavin has settled down again.

Your 2 sound great, must be fun comparing them! They are so unique.

Joshua has finally caught up and is 1 at last! He spent his birthday in a tent in the rain! We are having a horrible summer here, rain and cold today.
Joshua has finally started crawling properly and now pulls himself up to standing but it will be a while til he is walking. He has become very clingy the last few weeks which is great when he starts nursery in 2 weeks! He has first settling in tomorrow. My contract is going thro for 7 1/2 hrs a week and then I am going to do agency nursing as and when I can or we need the money. See how it goes!

Not long til holidays over already. Hope everyone is looking forward to going back to school!

hi there girls... good to hear from you guys..

jeck-i hear you on the energy... i need so much more of it..

casy- good to hear that you and joshua are doing well... how did the start of nursery school?? is he doing ok with it? as for our summer here it's been dry... yesterday we finally got rain and everything was needing it.

kim- did you start work?? how is your group of kids this year?

as for us here... we've had a craxy couple of weeks... gavin had an infection in his gum, and it was really bad.. i've not up to par.. i've had a bad few weeks with my fibromyalgia... and the headaches are every day now for a while/... but we are pushing on.. my 7YO DS started 2nd grade, and my 4YO DS started preschool... he takes the bus and everything... so now its me and gavin in the afternoons, and he naps half the time... so that has been nice... still trying to catch up from the summer..

so i hope that everyone is well, and taking care

Hi girls--

Colleen--sorry to hear about your headaches. THat sucks. I hope Gavin's gum heals soon. Ellie busted her mouth earlier this week, and i'm keeping an eye on one of her teeth--the gum is still a little red.

jeck--if someone could sell energy, I would by it TIMES TWO!!! Caffeine only gets me through part of the day!

Caseyp--Hope things are going well with Joshua's nursery school. How do you like being back at work?

THings here are good. I've been back to school/work for about 2 weeks now. I only teach from 7:45-11;45, so it's nice to have the rest of my day free. The kids are running everywhere. They're still on 2 naps, but I think we'll be going down to 1 soon? They're so fun right now---it's amazing how much they've learned in the past couple of months!

hi there all... had to dig down to find our thread...

we are doing good... gavin's gum is doing better and we have his swallow study tomorrow... so hopfully they will figure his eating, or noneating out.. or at the very least give me some ideas... the childrens hospital is 1 1/2 hours from our house, so it's going to be a REALLY long day...

kim- it is amazing to see them learn by leaps and bounds... gavin is talking so much.. are the kids down to one nap yet?? gavin is sleeping better and getting onto a schedule (after 15 months) he still does not wake up at the same time, or go down at the same time... but it's close to 6 1/2 hours awake then he goes down for nap or bed... so waking up at 6:00am, he take nap at 12:30pm.. it's the nap that varries... sometimes it's 1 3/4 hours other times it's close to 3 hours... but he is up the same amount of time each time.. so if he's late then i'll get him up a little early from nap.. so that he's not up at 5:00am....seems to be doing ok.. but he's still only sleeping a total of 11-12 hours a day..
are you having great weather like we are?? we are 80 degrees and loving it... our whole week is to be warm.

on another note.. i think that my neighbors boy (who is 18 months) might be autistic.. it's their first and he says no words, and does the same thing over and over again, and hates being around other people or kids... i do not know if i should say anything, or not... if i should, i do not know how to approach the subject... any help would be great

well i hope that everyone is doing great and having fun
take care

Hey Colleen--

We just got power back yesterday. We were without power for 8 days!   Hurricane Ike brought a nasty wind storm to Ohio last Sunday...it's been Hell, and I'm so glad to have power back. The kids did not handle it well, to say the least...so once my in-laws got power, we moved in with them. We survived at least!

Glad to hear Gavin's gums are doing better. Good luck at the specialist. I hope they can figure out some way to get your little guy to eat. Ellie and Braeden are ON THE GO...ALL THE TIME these days! They are saying more and more each day. Ellie can say about 10-12 words. Braeden can say about 6-8. He babbles all the time. I swear he speaks another language! They are fun...and exhausting at the same time! We are currently working on going down to 1 nap. It's tricky because I work in the mornings, so I'm not the one pushing back the nap. They would take a great morning nap, if I let them--and then nothing in the afternoon. Which then means an evening of tantrums. So, we're trying to push the morning nap back to mid day. I figure in a couple of weeks or so, we should be down to one. Let's hope.

How are your headaches? Any better? As for your neighbor...ooh, that's touchy. I personally was a late talker, so I can't say much on that! I would think the pedi is working on the issue with them. THey may not be saying anything about it? Does the mom seem to notice anything's wrong? I'd be careful saying too much. YOu don't want to scare her--but I understand your concern. What kinds of things is he doing over and over? I know Braeden will keep playing with the lid of a jar--and keep putting it on and taking it off. I was concerned, but the pedi said that it was fine--he's just figuring out how the lid works. Could it be something like that? hmmmm.....?

How are the rest of you all doing? Tasha? Nancy? Racheal?

hi there .. it's been a while... we are ok... a few crazy things with me here and there, but calming down a bit now..

kim, are the kids down to one nap? we are the same as we were with that.. the other boys had a long weekend, and are back at school today.. that stinks that you had lost power for that long!! did you have any damage from the storm?

gavin is doing good... we went to the swallow thing and was dx'ed with sensory food disorder, or something.. we are doing sensory food therapy once a week for the next 2-3 months.. weird.. i guess that kids who had GERD are more likely to have adversions to textures... at least we found that it's not a physical thing.. so we'll see how that goes... other then that he's now working on his eye teeth.. one has broke the others getting there, but he is still missing the one insisor on the bottom??

as for the neighbor... it was weird.. there was an article in one of my magizines that was about autisim.. and i had gotten her a subscription for the same magazine for her shower... and i mentioned it to her.. .then she tells me here husbands sister has a child with autism, and she was coming in town for a visit... i then asked how his sister found out... so i hope that just talking about it, they'll look a little deeper... the mom works(and only sees him maybe an hour a day), and they kind of do not see things for what they are. he'll babble and they say he said "such and such" but really there were no words or word like sounds... the things that he does over and over are pulling his hair... there is a bald spot on his head.. and he only wants to swing or always be moving in the stroller.. it's hard.. i don't want to think that he is, but if he is i know that the sooner is better. i do not know if it's a sgin, but the kid sleeps SO much.. i know that gavin is on the less sleep side, but the other guy sleeps maybe 16ish hours a day at 18+months.

well i hope that everyone is doing well, and taking care... i'm going to try and post a few pictures.. would love to see everyone elses little ones...
