Ghost & Others - HGH and IVF over 40

Post by suzhan »

Have you heard and/or seen studies on Human Growth Hormone used to improve egg quality, particularly in those over 40? My RE is recommending we try it for the last 4-5 days of my next stim cycle. He acknowledges he doesn't have good data yet, but they have been trying it for the last 9 months with some success in situations like ours (good stim results, no other issues, just age-related.) It will add about $400-500 to our total medication cost, so given the overall expense of IVF, it's not a lot, just wondered if anyone has heard of it.

I have certainly heard of it. It had a spurt of popularity 5-10 years ago, but it seems to have faded.

Still, it might be worth a shot. Other clinics are trying DHEA. Another approach is the Lupron flare cycle.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Do you know whether and how it supposedly works? The RE said something about it impacting the granulosa cells?

I have not studied it.

If it has a benefit, it's probably not a big one. It's been tried for at least a decade, and today most clinics don't use it.
