About price: If you have to pay for multiple rounds at a cheaper clinic it may cost more than one round at an expensive clinic.

Now this is only if the cheaper clinic is cheaper because the rates and lab are not very good and the expensive clinic is excellent.

Just point out that you need to look at success rates as well as price per round.

Good Luck. I can tell you my clinic in MD is around 15K each attempt.
Me: 44 severely reduced reserve

msnisaa: IVF should not be about cheap. You need to find the best doctors with the best success rates then way out the cost for multiple plans.

My center is expensive, but it is state of the art with technology break throughs as well as a very hight success rate.

Don't go cheap look for results.

I understand

Post by Fluffypuppygal »

I understand where you are coming from when asking about cost. I worked retail management while my husband was in the military, and TRUST ME! We knew the value of a dollar!! After buying our house, raising his daughter, paying off the cars, paying my tuition, etc... we didn't have $2000 to spare for IVF, let alone the $7-25K price range being quoted to us! And no insurance policy would cover us either!
What did we do? (And maybe what you could do?) Call around and find out what clinics are in your areas and start networking. Find out if any of your coworkers have had IVF and what they liked or didn't like about their clinics. I think I talked to over 100 women, doctors, charities, and spent five years saving and reserching before deciding on a clinic I could work with and afford. Don't be afraid to look outside of your city, either. We have a couple driving from as far as Montana to come to our clinic for help. (Our bill currently is around $7K.)

I totally understand also your hesitation about spending the big bucks for something completely unguaranteed and looking for alternatives or ways to save. (I actually had an embryo adoption councellor chew me out for mentioning cost as a reason for looking into embryo adoption!) When you don't have a lot of money to risk, even little savings help! Particularly when your partner isn't on board with IVF 100%!

So shop around, do your homework, and good luck!
