Anyone PG with donor eggs/ sperm??

Post by caz1 »

Would you mind sharing any nerves or "issues" that you have had or are having - especially re how your partners are reacting to your pregnancies (in the case of donor sperm). We are heading into ICSI number 2 - with the VERY likely probablility of having to use donor back up. I think I'm OK with it - but not so sure about my DH - he says he is - but deep down I think hes just saying that to make me feel OK.
Am really worried that if I ended up getting pg with donor sperm, my DH would feel weird about it and a bit excluded (maybe they feel a bit excluded anyway??)
Would love to hear of any of your advice or experiences
Thanks a million
All the best!!

Hi Caz

I've posted to you before on the other thread!

I'm 10weeks pg with donor sperm and to be completely honest with you I have not thought of the 'donor' or the baby is any negative way. Dh and I are both extremely positive. DH always refers to the baby as 'our' new arrival. It really is quite strange. Ive got the added advantage that dh has been through this before and I have an adorable 5year old step daugther. It is defintiely the only way we'd have our own child. I read something the other day - just think how much you love your dh? (loads and loads) and there is no genetic link at all. Having a donor offspring is half of you - dh loves you loads and the baby ca only be an assest.

it may seem that I am being fiplant and naive but i have a history to go on and this baby is already so very loved by me and my dh. I can only see this increasing (there will be times I'm sure, but the +ves will no doubt outway the -Ives)

Hope you find that helpful. It is all a very individual thing - it is only you and dh that can decide if it is for you - good luck in you r next treatment
