hi Kelly, thanks for the info -- getting very close for you now! How exciting that you will be meeting your babies in a few days! Just a few questions (if you don't mind-- before you become a mom...)
How many embryos did you transfer and on what day? Did you fly to your clinic -- how long did you stay afterwards? Did they do any sort of prep cycle with you before the real cycle began?
thanks - you've been such a great help - so nice that there is someone around right now who has been through this -- with success!! gives me great hope!

hi Carolyn! We did like the clinic (although not nearly as chic as our previous clinic in austria--)and felt really at ease with the doctor. He took a long time with us, and at no time did we feel rushed. It was a little chaotic when we got there, due to the language differences, but once our contact person heard we were there, everything was smooth sailing and we got right in to see the doc --
The clinic even arranged for a taxi to pick us up at our hotel in Prague and then took us to the airport after our appointment.
I actually had to wait 6 months between my IVF cycles 2 & 3, so I don't think it will be so bad to wait till March. It might even be sooner if they match me sooner with a donor -- but they said they'd contact us no later than mid-Feb. with all the details -- It feels great to have a date in mind, even if it is 6 months away -- gets us out of that feeling of limbo!

best of luck with your search to find the right place for you!

hi Pauline - hope you are having a lovely visit in Ireland!

The clinic is about a 25/30 minute ride from the center of Prague. Our contact person arranged for a taxi to pick us up and then bring us to the airport when our appt. was finished. All in all, everything ran rather smoothly!

When I should have been doing other things today... I stumbled upon another forum where a lot of the girls were enthusiastically trying their DE luck at Reprofit.
...and then read about something called IVF Vacations...have you ever heard of that? I understand the concept, but I don't think I'd ever consider a cycle of IVF to be something I'd want to do on vacation...but hey, maybe it works!...don't knock it, till you've tried it, right? :D

lots of luck with making your decision! Hope Dr. M gets back to you soon.
Have a great weekend,
xx summer

Hi girls,

I've popped in and out of this thread over the past year or so. I think I am ready to settle in now. After a miscarriage at 8 weeks from an IUI, and 6 IVF's (2 chemical, 4 BFN) I am now embarking on DE.

Hi Kelly, you may remember me, You PM'ed me a while back when I was first thiking about DE. We've have very similar experiences. You sound great. You are an inspiration to me.

Summer and Caroline, you are old friends! Looks like I am joining you. Summer, you and I will be on similar schedules.

Pauline and anyone I missed, nice to meet you.

I am currently about to begin a "prep" cycle at my clinic. Everyone who does a DE cycle must first do a prep cycle to see how you respond to the meds. Once the prep cycle is complete, I will be active on the DE matching list. It is a 6-12 month wait. Just got my big bag of meds last night. Strange to be giving myself lupron and PIO shots for a prep cycle, not a real cycle. Oh well. I'm just listening to my doctor, who I love.

Well, just checking in girls and happy to be joining this little thread. Looking forward to supporting all of you on this crazy adventure.
Take care -chriss

Hello ladies

Hi Chris - glad to know you are back on the band wagon and things are progressing into the next stage for you and Dh to achieve your dream - will you do DE with same clinic ?? - 6/12 months is like Uk waiting lists due to donor shortage - so frustrating i find it when just want to get going on next cycle - big huhs honey ((()))

Summer - I emailed clinic through contact page on Thursday PM - when should I expect to hear - or how many days did it take them to get back to you ??

Kelly - hope all ok and you are getting all prepared for the delivery - will it be natural or caesarian (sp??) - remind me - do you know what you are having??

Nothing to report this end - just feel frustrated that nothing in place to progress to next stage - I am soooo impatient - know nothing will happen this year so just looking at holidays now .. feel as though need a sunshine break - we have had like 1 hot day this summer in Uk !!!

Catch you all later

Hello Chris! Great that you are back on here and have decided to proceed with DE, although it is a big decision so I can understand why you wanted to be absolutely sure! Sounds as though things are moving along well - first with your prep cycle and then onto your 'real' cycle! Best of luck with it all!!!

Summer - to answer some of your questions... I did a 5-day transfer and transferred 3 embryos. I had to fly to Prague (from Canada) and then took a train to my clinic from there. It was a long trip but in the end it was well worth it!!! I only stayed 2 days afterwards and then flew back to Canada but we were there a total of about 10 days. They didn't require a prep cycle with me because they felt that they had a good enough impression of how I would respond to meds given I had done 8 cycles previously - thankfully that was the case because to fly over there for a prep cycle would have really impacted the financial aspects fo the whole things. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to help in any way!

Carolyn, hopefully you'll have something fall into place soon. I understand your frustration because I always felt better when I knew the timing of the next steps - it is the waiting that is agony!

We don't know what we are having so it'll be quite a surprise for us! and we also don't know yet whether it'll be a c-section or not. That'll be decided at my appointment on Sept 16th! I sure hope that they are to be born shortly after that because I am quite uncomfortable now!

Hope everyone has a great week!

hi carolyn, sorry that you haven't heard back from anyone!! I am sure they will write back. this is the email address I've been using to get in touch with them: pronatal@mbox.vol.cz. Did you address your email to Dr. Mardesic? I sincerely hope you will hear from them soon! He usually got back to me pretty quickly -- but there was one time when he was away at a conference and I sent lots of emails, wondering why no one responded -- he finally wrote back to tell me he was at a conference and when he'd be away again -- so, it could be that he is away at the moment - don't give up hope!!
Did you ever look in to Reprofit? Here is another link (from another forum) that gives info about others clinics and wait times -- Perhaps you have already contacted them, but just in case...http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum ... c=127533.0

kelly -- thinking of you...thanks so very much for answering all of my questions. I didn't realize that you had travelled from Canada! Seems like you did everything right and will soon get to meet your little miracles. what an exciting and rewarding day that will be. all the best to you.

chriss - great to see you here! good luck with your prep cycle! when does that begin and what do you have to do? at my clinic they don't do a prep cycle on everyone --

looking forward to sharing this journey with you all -- it is going to be our time! xx summer

Hey Guys,

Yes Amy (Summer), this is our time.

Hi Kelly, hope you are feeling well. You are my inspiration you know.

Hi Carolyn, hope you hear some news soon. I think you should get yourself on any waiting lists that you can, you know how all of this always takes longer than we think. Don't waste any time by hesitating. Keep your options open.

My clinic does a prep cycle with everyone doing DE regardless of past cycles. Anyway, my RE is taking good care of me. So much that he is making sure that I see him personally for my sonograms. He worked with the DE nurse to coordinate it. (It's usually "you get who you get.") So I am pleased that he has taken me in under his wing a bit. I will be on bcp's for a couple of weeks then begin lupron. I start the bcps in 2 weeks.
Just more waiting... story of my life the past few years. You all know.

Good to hear from you all. Thinking of you. -chriss

hi carolyn, sounds great that you've got yourself on a waiting list and are moving forward. I'm sure everything will fall into place for you and the months will fly by till you get that call that you are good to go!
Did you ever hear back from Dr M? I was also waiting for an email back from them and just got one yesterday myself... I hope you will also hear from them soon.
And hey, good going, DH -- booking what sounds like a wonderful holiday for you guys. -- what a sweetheart to have done that for you...and then not to have been able to keep it a surprise was even nicer... :D just relax and enjoy....when will you be going?

kelly - less than a week till your last appt, right?...hope all is well and that you are ready for the arrival of your babies! :D :D :D :D all the best.

chriss - good luck with your prep cycle!! hope it brings the results your doctor wants to see and gets you one step closer. So nice that your RE has taken a personal interest in your case and is guiding you through this next phase on your way to becoming parents.

till next time, xx summer

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is well. Carolyn, glad to see that you are on at least one wait list so far. Good for you. It's so hard to wait, huh? Now I'm sitting here waiting to start a 'prep' cycle... not even a real cycle. One foot in front of the other. I'm not active on the DE wait list till I complete the 6 week prep cycle. Then it's a 6-12 month wait to be matched. It's not easy, huh? Sounds like you will be having a wonderful birthday. Yeah 40.

Summer, Hope you are well. How's everything?

Hi Kelly, hope you feeling good. I think I can understand your not wanting to know the sex of the babies. For us having to do IVF, there are not too many surprises along the way.

That's it for me for now. Thinking of you.
