renee -

I think you will have to let go of your idea of how it's going to work, and see how the follies grow. I had 3 eggs, 2 embies, and now twins, and that was a lot for me, but I am a poor responder.

My friend (42) had 13 eggs and 6 embies (BFN) then 12 eggs, three embies) twins.

My old roommate got 22 embryos at 40 got one baby and then at 44 went back and got twins.

so it can work either way. My old roommate hit it on her only two tries, but many of us have to try more than once. I never thought we could do or afford it, and miraculously, we have managed, one procedure at a time.

Try to take some pressure off yourself.

The only thing I might question is why they would transfer 5 embryos. My understanding is that 3-4 is sort of the max they do these days. My clinic does not do more than three. ...You might talk to him about implanting fewer, but the three BEST qualtiy ones.

It really isn't number. Really. It's quality of embryo or blast.

In a rush to get pregnant, I totally get the rush to do it all and get it right, but it really is quality.

I just had two, and I have twins now.

so when they say it only takes one....It only takes one.

This whole process for me has been a huge lesson in letting go of my idea of how I thought my life would turn out, and accepting what is. I may get the two kids I dreamed of, just not in the timeline or way I ever thought. I have learned so much about myslef an my husband and my marriage, and the kind of people we are, that in a strange way, I don't regret any of it.

Good luck. Love the follies you get.

40 is a weird age, you can get plenty of eggs or just a few.... only going through it will tell you.

I totally understand what Stefanie is saying. This whole IVF journey has been so amazing for me in so many ways. It is more than getting a baby in our arms at the end of this road. We do get a chance at finding out more about ourselves, realizing what we are made of. It has showed me the strength that I possess, that we all possess. It has pushed beyond limits I never thought I would cross. It made me overcome fears that I could not erase for many, many years. It has enabled me to meet all of you fabulous women and realize what power we have when we put it all together.
It shows me how much DH cares about me and is willing to go all out to achieve this lifelong dream.
It warms my heart to know that I have amazing friends that are so excited that it's working out for us. It has brought our family closer and share a better bond because of it. I decided to share with them my journey and they have been aware of all the steps we took. It opened up that line of communication between aunts and uncles, my parents and now sharing a pregnancy with my dear cousin.
Whatever the outcome to all this, I am truly blessed to have gone through all of this because I would not have learned so much if not for IVF.

You're right, Stefanie...that in a strange way , I don't regret any of it either. I've written before that everything in life happens for a reason, even when we think it's a negative situation, there IS ALWAYS something positive we can get out of it.

Again, thank you all so much for being here and being so amazing. I do have one wish and that would be to meet all of you one day. It think that would be a very wonderful and emotional thing to do.

Love you all and wishing the very best to all. :D

stefanie - Congrats on seeing the heartbeats!! I can't wait till my u/s. Only 10 more days. Man, there sure is a lot of waiting with IVF.

Renee- I was 33 about to turn 34 when I first started and I thought I would produce a lot of eggs. Well, the first cycle got canceled because I was a poor responder and only produced 3 the first cycle. The switched me to the flare protocol and then I produced 6 each time the next two cycles. Both times only 3 fertilized and only 2 made it to transfer. I am pregnant now, but I was shocked of how few eggs I produced. So just wait to see how you respond before trying to figure out what is going to happen. Good luck with stims!!

val - That would be great if someday we could all meet for lunch. It has been an amazing journey and all the better because of your posts. I just love reading what you have to say. I wish I had a way with words like you do. When was your u/s again? Oh, I was checking on ticker dates after you mentioned dates were off. I was experimenting with LilyPie and found that if you also enter your last LMP it can change the number of weeks pregnant depending on what day you put in, but it doesn't change the number of days to go. Weird.

horsegrl- I am so sorry this was not your cycle. I wish you the best for your FET!!

mztia
- Wow, I have never heard someone transferring 6. Good luck!! Take it easy and let DH take care of you. Hopefully yours can cook, mine can't :(

slfleming ,JJJake ,hoping4amiracle - I don't think I congratulated you three on your BFP. WOOHOOO way to go!!

Well, I have been trying to catch up on my homework but having a hard time concentrating. That I and I am extremely tired. I can't get through the day without a nap. I am still cramping, but no other symptoms yet. I can't wait until the u/s. Hope everyone else is doing good.

Turtles~ Are you having AF type cramps? I read that it seems to be normal but I can't help but worry. I had a stronger one last night...don't remember if I had a sex dream and it brought on the cramp. I'm not spotting at all, so that's good.
I go for hours without any AF type cramps and then they come and last for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. I mu=ight just get one or sometimes it's 2 or 3 in a span of a few hours. The one last night, I don't know how long it lasted.
Are you feeling that too? Is anyone else feeling that?

Val - It is AF type cramps of different degrees of painful. I get them throughout the day. I notice if I sit too long straight up they seem to come on. When I was sitting on the plane waiting to take off for over 2 hours, they got pretty bad the rest of the night. It as pretty sharp pains on my right side then. I don't have any spotting which makes me happy. My doctor said cramps are normal, but they do make me worried. I have been trying to recline when I start to get them and that seems to help.

Turtles~ Thanks for answering so quickly. I've been reading all morning about Af type cramps. I read another forum where women are pregnant naturally and I have read many of their posts saying that they also feel AF type cramps, some stronger than others and that they felt it for quite a few weeks.
So I guess we can just relax knowing that it's normal. As long as there is no spotting!
I spoke to my RE and he seemed concerned which in turn concerned me even more. But I'll take the advice from the prego women out there...they know so much more than my RE who, being a man, has no clue about being pregnant obviously.

Let's relax and enjoy our pregnancy!

Hugs,

val - My husband asked me if I had cramps when I was pregnant with my son, but I can't remember :x I can't believe I don't remember stuff like that. I do know that I never threw up, but was nauseas with him. My DH was disappointed that I never threw up  Men are weird. Anyway, my doc said that your uterus is changing shape and getting bigger and that is why you have the cramps. Most of mine are pretty minor. Especially compared to the ones I was having on the plane. I was really worried there for a while that I was having another ectopic. I guess with all these hormones we have to have some type of worry. I hope we can relax and just enjoy our pregnancy. :D

I have very little cramping, actaully I just get twinges. My only symptoms so far, and these just started, is that my breasts just started to become tender and I am having discomfort around my back, under my breasts, and around my ribs. I dont feel any pain at all, just uncomfortable. As far as AF, I just feel like I am constantly getting my period, but nothing there  I am producing allot of estrogen and have a slow dischrge but I know thats from my high esrogen numbers.....For me, this discomofrt is new, never experieced it ..Oh and I am EXTREMELY thirsty.....

I also wanted to say, although I dont share your symptoms of severe cramping, I have read that many woman have those and have normal pregnancies. The only time I have read in which you should be concerned is when cramps are accompanied with bleedng of any kind or the cramps become excessive. One shouldnt cramp excessivly ....at leats thats what I read

Toobee~ I had extreme thirst during the first pregnancy. I just could not get enough water. I seem ok in that department so far.
My boobs have been very tender for the past 3 days, sometimes they even ache. They are much bigger than before and feel heavy!! I get the twinges too.
Most of the AF type cramps are pretty mild. I just had another one that lasted 1 min. I'm not worried anymore, I still feel prego. Once in a while they are strong. Not a tinge of blood, so that real good.
I've been reading the same thing.
When is your US today? I can't wait to hear the news.

Renee~ I wish I could help you with the lupron, but I have no clue. I'm sure your nurse did it right. Let us know.

Toobee

How did your u/s go?

Anyone else w a BFP not having as many symptoms? I don't feel as much pressure or cramping. And my boobs aren't that sore. I'm hoping that they just come and go and I am being over worried.

Renee -

The bottle says sodium chloride??? I personally would call and check. I am not sure you would know it if was wrong. It keeps you from ovulating early.

Ok tried this on another thread but got no response -

I wondering if you BFP ladies could share when you first noticed any symptoms (twinges, thirst, dizzy, etc)!

Thanks!
