i've taken DHEA for the last 2weeks, 25 mg 3xday, until a couple days ago i went down to 2xday because of some insomnia, anxiety, and MOST of all- pelvic pain.
it started with a pain in what felt like my left ovary, and now general pain low into my pelvis- hurts when i go to sit down/ bear down on toilet ect. and lots of random twinges.
i also had a hysteroscopy 2 wks ago but experienced very minimal spotting or pain after.
any input?? i'm scared to DHEA is hurting me (or maybe it's reigniting my ovaries?) i have high FSH.
my RE doesn't approve of DHEA anyways,sooo..
thanks karen

Karen a friend has been on it since May with no side effects. I doubt its the culprit. I would call your RE. I bet it was the hysteroscopy. Did you take antibiotics with that? Some have you do it in case.
Me: 44 severely reduced reserve
DH: 44 perfect

IVF 2: June 08 -BFN
IVF 3: September 08 -BFN
IVF 4: November 08 - Katherine Emma born 8/9/2009
What I was wondering is when taking the DHEA do you go off of it once you ovulate, do a transfer or an IUI depending on your treatment for that month?
I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday and asked him about DHEA. He said he is going to a few conferences coming up and he is going to try to get more information about it. I think the studies that are out are so preliminary that not many doctors are really using it... but he said he has 3 patients just this week ask about it!!! I really want to try it but want to make sure I use it properly.

You can't rule out the DHEA. I would definitely tell your RE about everything, including the DHEA. Especially the DHEA.

thanks for all the replies. my hunch from knowing my body is that it isn't the hysteroscopy.
i'm going to keep taking 50mg day providing i can tolerate it. i'll talk to my general prac dr., as my RE is pissed at me for taking DHEA- so i know he'd just tell me to stop taking it vs. providing input on what's likley happening.
my BIG decision i have to make by monday is whether to cycle this month or wait til end of oct so that i'm on DHEA longer???
for those who are taking it- how long will you take it before cycling, and any thoughts on only taking it 1 month before cycling?
thanks everyone

thought i should update that it was NOT the dhea that caused those pains- was a combo of the hysteroscopy and a poor choices made at the gym /exercising.
didn't want to scare anyone out there re: dhea. i'm still on it with no issues. initial side effects have resolved.

DHEA for treating female infertility is not yet fully researched. I'm glad to hear it was not the cause of your pain, but everything has side effects, and we may have yet to learn all those from DHEA.
