Hi gals--

I'm without power here in the midwest....our house has been dark for 3 days and counting. I'm staying at my FIL's right now. The kids are NOT napping...can't wait for tonight! ha! I pray that our electricity gets fixed soon. Never imagined Hurricane Ike would hit us in Ohio!

Kimi--CONGRATS!!!!!! WOw! You will be busy, but you are so blessed. Take care and keep us posted!

I'll check back in later...hopefully when my power's working.

So Brooks has decided she wants to eat every three hours and I am going to let her since she is so little. I was trying really hard to keep her on her sisters schedule (in the hospital still) which is every 4 but she is just too hungry. So once they are home I will do both of them every three hours (just like in Baby Wise). Makes me wonder when I will have time to do things lol.

Suga~ I am surprised they had you going every 4 hours for a preemie. Three hours is about the longest mine would go ever until they were bigger unless it was at night. My NICU was pretty adimant as well about no longer than 3 hours for such little ones. Also, you'll find when she has a growth spurt that she will eat almost non-stop! I'm with you that when they are so small it's fine to feed them whenever they need it. I did have to still stay on schedule but I always tried to push 2.5-3 hours apart. How's Machenzie doing?

Kim and Sameera~ Glad you now have some power. Can't imagine the people that lost everything! Makes you grateful!

Better run, dinner guests tonight and I'm going to make it all during this afternoons nap! Hope they sleep at least an hour and a half! YIKES!

Yeah I am going to do her every three hours if she wakes up before 4 hours. It has been three hours since the last feed and she is not awake yet so when she wakes up I will feed her. I will let her run on her own schedule till she is bigger because she is just about to hit 5lbs. Mackenzie is a little bigger so she can go a little longer.

I have to go and buy crib wedges so it has them on a little bit of an incline in their crib. I think it will help with the reflux issues that they are having. It goes under the sheet so no SIDS can happen there.

Ok, I spoke too soon. She just woke up lol

Thank you everyone!
A quick post as the babies are starting to fuss and Sean is getting into things.

I went for an ultrasound and the baby measured 7 weeks, so that means I've been pregnant since July. I had no idea the entire month of August. So, I need to call back my OB because they still think I am 3 weeks.

Kim and Sameera, sorry you lost power! Hope it's back on... Hugs

Kimberly, moving back to Boise sounds very tempting since we will probably need to move to a bigger place. We could probably afford better house there! And of course you live there, too!

Suga, your post brings back memories! You are a busy woman for sure. Sounds like you are doing a good job (I also followed Babywise) and your babies should be gaining weight in no time! Mine slept through the night at 3 mos so it will happen!

Well, better run and entertain my kids.

HELP!!!

Post by sugabeanzs »

Well, Mackenzie is home! She got home about an hour ago!! I am really happy that she has finally made it home. However, she is the hardest thing to feed. Since she still has her heart happenings and they happen after (or during) she eats, I had to learn a special way to feed her. Well, she did not feel like eating at her normal time and she was a stinker. I hope she gets easier eventually.

However, I did have a mental break down already! I did not get much sleep last night because of Brooke so I am already exhausted...so I was feeding Mackenzie and she would not eat so I started to cry because I am just overwhelmed...then I was feeding Brooke right afterwards and she was not that hungry so started to cry. UGH. Twins is the hardest thing. Next time, I think I will just pray for one little baby at a time!

Nick took off work next week so he will be able to help a little bit and his mom is coming up next weekend then my mom will be here the weekend after that so hopefully that will help me a little bit. I do not know how moms with multiples do it...I suppose I will learn really fast and I just have to keep in the back of my head that they do grow up and get easier with feeds.

Ok so I got 30 minutes of sleep last night. Hopefully tonight will be better. Mackenzie would not stop crying! Come to find out she was not eating enough because the Dr. Browns nipples she did not know how to use very well. So I had to screw on the nipples they used in the NICU (luckily I had a few!!) Took me till 3am to figure this out though!

So they slept pretty much all day today so hopefully they will sleep tonight after they eat. I dont know why but Mackenzie hates to go to sleep. I can not wait till the crib wedges arrive so maybe that will help her since she was elevated in the NICU.

I can not wait till they can sleep through the night! It will be a God send! I have never been so tired lol.

Please tell me that you are sleeping during the day while they sleep. You have to sleep while they sleep as much as possible.

sugar- I totally agree with steph - I to really hope you are sleeping while they are taking their naps. It's important you do otherwise you will have a break down and we don't want you to have that.

Try to take a nap even if it is 15 min power naps - I cannot imagine what you are going thru yet. I will when I have both of these out and have a toddler to watch too~!

Keep us posted - take care dear!

sugabeanz:
I read your posts and it makes me so scared. It just sounds so hard!
Are you okay? I had a baby in the NICU for 75 days and when he came home I felt like I didn't sleep for months...and that was with one!

A question for you Moms who have had twins, did anyone of you have other children? I do and am so scared of juggling all of it.
Is the first year really, really hard??
Any advice would be wonderful!

Kimmy,
I hope someone responds to you!
I am also wondering about the juggling!
I have a four year old and a six year old and I am 28 weeks preg with twins. I am wondering (and scared) how my husband and I are going to give everyone what they need!

Suga, it is indeed a hard work. It was the hardest thing mentally and physically I've ever done. But it will pass. Once the babies start sleeping longer at night, you will get your sleep and feel a lot better about things. Hang in there!

Kimmy, I have a 2 1/2 year-old and 7 mos-old twins. It's very hectic and can be stressful at times, but with your DH's help you will be ok! I take my kids out in the morning, even though my twins would rather nap. That way, they all sleep great in the afternoon and I get some break. We somehow manage it. I don't know how!

Sameera, how's your bedrest going? Hope you have access to DVD's and good books!

Anyway, better make lunch for my toddler.

Take care!
