Hi everyone

I had my first OB appt. today, I am 9wks0dys. It was great. I saw them my Angels again - they ra edoing great. Hearts beats are good an dthere so size is juts rigth. Since we are havng twins my OB wants to see me every two weeks just to be on the safe side, which I totally appreciate :)

My frist big test will be a Nuchal Transluceny on October 6th-- and will test for the increased risk for Downes Syndrome, if my numbers are high we will comsider and an Amnio at 14 weeks.

This is all so wonderful and still a bit surreal for me :)

Keep you osted!

Good evening ladies. Just wanted to touch base with all of you and relay my exciting little expirience today.
My husband has been having some elevated liver numbers come back in his blood test so he went for a sonogram to see why. Well, I was there with and when he mentioned to the doctor that we where having twins she got all excited and said that she wanted to see them.
So after he was done she made me lay down and gave me an impromptu ultrasound just to see them.
It was so cool to have someone else so excited to see my babies and just to have an ultrasound for the fun of it.
Baby B is my little olympic swimmer because there he/she was again, moving and wiggleing like crazy. He/she is such a ham....lol. It was great.
For those of you wondering, My husband has fat deposits in his liver and we have to live as vegetarians for a while to get it back into shape. The doc said he'll be fine though.
Well, thanks for letting me share. I'll do some personals tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well!!

Hello Ladies, I hope everyone is feeling well today. My morning sickness sucks, but I guess it could be worse because I have yet to vomit. Just being sick, isn't a good feeling. I had my first OB apt yesterday and everything went well. The twins are still developing on schedule and heartbeats looked great. I don't go back for 4 weeks which is the killer for me. My OB said I will be a regular patient until about the 24th week then he will see me weekly. I was also told to be prepared to go on bed rest at about 24-26 weeks. Now, that is something I am not not looking forward to.

I have to sit down with a plan that will allow me to actually take that much time off from work. The health of my babies is what's important, so I am sure we will figure something out. For everyone else carrying multiples. have you thuoght of having to go on bed rest and what to do about work???

TrueBeliever: First of all, congrats on the great report!!! It's so reasurring to know that everything is going fine and I'm so happy for you and your husband. I have a question though, why is you OB predicting bedrest so early? Is there something wrong that he thinks you'll need it? It seems a little funny to me that he would just assume your going to need it if everything is going great at this point. Just sounded a little odd to me and I was curious.

Actually I agree... I am also a hgh risk pregnancy and I am 39, but my Dr. said there is no reason to assume that I will need to go on bed rest. I may have to adjust my work scheudke b/c of my commute BUT that may just be b/c I am exhausted and there is a lot walking involved.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong. It's just his protocol. I have thought about going to a different Dr. to see if they treat twin pregnancies any different. I told him I had a desk job and wasn't very stressful, but he didn't seem to care. I haev been reading online where a lot of Dr's protocol is to place multiples on bed rest. I don't truly agree with it either. It really caught me by surprise, I go back at 12 weeks and will discuss it with him in more details. I feel it should be on a wait and see program. No need to be at home sitting around, when I can be at work sitting at my desk. :D

Don't mean to knock the doc, but he sounds too doom and gloom for my taste. Having a twin pregnancy is not a disability as long as things progress normally and healthily. I'm a big girl carrying twins right now and I've asked my doctor if he thinks i'll need bedrest because of my pre-pregnancy size and he says as long as things stay healthy he doesn't see why. I've come a long way to be pregnant now and I would never let my doc bring me down like that for no reason at this point.
I say don't be afraid till you have something to be afraid of. If you do wind up changing doctors, make sure it's some one with a more optimistic attitude.
Good luck in any aspect and keep us posted!!

I have a girlfriend who delivered twins (post-ivf) last year. She was up and about the entire time and even went out to dinner the night before she delivered.

At my work, pregnancy counts as a short-term disability. The standard leave is 6-8 weeks, which can be supplemented by sick leave, LWOP etc. In the case of bedrest, I believe the standard leave can be extended considerably. I'd talk to your HR rep when you're ready to share your condition.

Unfortunately I work for the government, and they do not offer short term disability. I believe we may be the only organization that doesn't. I am not sure what I will do, because I don't want to be on bed rest unless I truly have to. I definately don't have the time to take almost 5 months off, and would have to take at least 2 months LWOP which would truly suck preparing for two children. I will discuss it in further details when I go for my next apt, then I will make my decidion then about Dr.'s. I really appreciate the advice given..

Hi everyone,

SilverAngel679- Hope your appt goes well. Was your OB recommended to you? Is this the first time you will havew net him or her?

I just tracked one down and am excited to go. I haven't been released yet and may have a few more weeks. I am 8w4d today, and have my 2nd US scheduled for next week.

I was wondering if any one is still on prometrium, and when you were taken off. I have been on 200 mg 3x a day for awhile now. They say my progesterone is fine, but since I didn't have pio shots and this was all that I am not they tend to leave patients on this for awhile. I wish I could stop taking it because it is such an inconvience in so many ways! Any insight from anyone?

Talk with everyone soon.

Elizabeth

emfossum: I actually met my doctor during a very hard time. I had a miscarriage last year with my first IVF pregnancy at 14 weeks and the OB that I had at the time, Dr. Quinones, faultered in many ways during that horrible 2 days while they confirmed that the baby had no heart beat and I was schedualed for the D&C.
He seemed to be so nonchalant about the fact that I was miscarrying. Like it was something that happened every day and not like my whole entire world was collapsing. He showed me no warmth, no sorrow and no sympathy it seemed.
I went to the hospital the next day for the D&C and that was where I met Dr. Weinrab. He was on call at the time and was going be preforming the procedure. He held my hand while I cried and promised me he would be careful with my baby when I told it was still special to me even if it meant nothing to anyone else and it was nothing but medical waste now. I could swear he teared up once or twice.
I knew then that he was my doctor. I counldn't bear to go back to the other doctor so I made a follow-up appointment with him 3 weeks later to make sure I was healing ok and hehad the same bedside manner in his office as he did in the hospital.
It's so funny actually because the last time I saw him, last december, these where his last words: "Don't worry Elizabeth, I'll see you back here next year. With twins."
I can't wait to see him and tell him how right he was.
Well, I'm sorry to give such a long answer to such a short question...lol. But yeah, That's how I found him. He just seemed to fit.

Silver Angel:
Good luck on your appt. tomorrow. Loved the story of how you met your DR.
Emfossum: I am still on Vaginal Gel, Crinone. It drives me crazy, so I am hoping to finish soon (will be 10 wks Sunday).

Ladies, I am so sorry I have been absent. I can't tell you how sick I have been. I truly have had all day sickness. Yesterday, I threw up 6 times, and probably dry heaved about 20. I am sorry for TMI. Seriously, I have been miserable. I am hoping that things will start to get better. I am negleting my sons (I have two fabulous boys!).
I did the blood work today for the 1st trimester screening. Apparently, you can do the blood test 8 days before the u/s, then they will have all the test results at the same time. I scheduled my NT u/s when I am 11 weeks, 3 days. How about everyone else??
