Welcome Ladies!
Don't be nervous... this message board is awesome. You'll meet so many interesting people who are going through the EXACT same thing you are. You can ask questions, share stories, anxieties, good days, tips, etc.

As for the shots- I, too, was nervous before starting them. First of all, I'm a big baby. I pass out at the doctor's office practically every third time I'm there. LOL. But it's not from pain so please don't worry.

I've been through 5 months of Clomid + insemination, as well as 3 months of FSH shots + insemination. The shots themselves have such tiny needles that it doesn't hurt to jab them into your stomach or leg... Personally I just found that dosages over 200 units burn a lil bit but ice helps. And each cycle I was given the Ovidrel 250 trigger shot and that burns a lil bit.

But seriously, it's not bad at all... atleast my dh didn't mind giving me the actual injections because after watching the video online I was all ready to give it to myself and couldn't do it! Imagine me with pre-filled pen in hand, leg swabbed with alcohol, and I totally chickened out. But this is coming from the girl who passes out having her blood taken.

Oh and that's the other thing, with the injections I had to go in for bloodwork and ultrasound every other day.

It's great that you two are starting shots at nearly the same time. You should totally stay in contact and support each other. It makes the time go by so fast and you know there's someone else out there doing the same exact thing.

Good luck!

Hello

Post by sol1009 »

Hello, I am 31 years old and have been TTC for 4 years. I have had 2 IUI's which failed. I had surgery in March for endometriosis and a polyp in my uterus. I am going back to my doctor on October 28th so start treatments for IVF. I am very nervous about it all. I constantly feel like I have anxiety. I also started accupuncture last Saturday. Any words of advise?

The best advice I have for you is to take it one step at a time... even one day at a time. Don't look at the failed attempts and all the hoops you still have to jump through. Set smaller, attainable goals. Reward yourself for all the poking, prodding, ups and downs, and for being the strongest women in your circle of friends. No one, except the women you meet on these message boards, know what you're experiencing. We have to pat ourselves on the backs for being courageous and hopeful.
For example, instead of getting anxious about all the shots and bloodtests you'll go through. A smaller goal would be to get through the meeting with the doctor. Next step- watch the injection video and begin injections. After a couple days of injections and bloodwork- treat yourself to a pedicure or a new book. Etc.
We'll all get there- I just know it! (p.s. When i'm having a "down" day I try to think of all the things I'm grateful for; the fact that the weather is nice, I can go for a walk, I'm not hungry, atleast I have the opportunity to try fertility treatment, that my dh is supportive, etc.) Keep us posted on your progress.
