40+ Transferring Mid October

Post by sha1 »

Hello everyone,

I am 41, going for my 4th and final IVF around October 18th (estimated transfer date). My husband and I got married later in life.
I did go thru four failed IUI's. My first IVF was a BFN; my second IVF was in March BFP but ended in a miscarriage and possibly an etopic pregnancy at 8 weeks. My beta numbers started out great but didn't quite double; so I knew something was going on. My third IVF was also a BFN.

I just started taking Lupron on (9/19). I have also starting acupuncture this time (9/23). Hope it helps.

Just checking to see if anyone else at my age is stating another cycle or their first?
Me: 42 DH: 48
IUI's - 4 - BFN
IVF #1 - 12/07 BFN
IVF #2 - 2/08 BFP, sadly MC @ 8 weeks
IVF #3 - 8/08 BFN

(Lost at 22 Weeks, pre-term labor)

Hi Sha1

I just wanted to wish you all the luck in the world with this cycle. You can see from my profile that I am an ivf veteran and have just had a miscarriage after my last ivf cycle - horrible! BUT I am very lucky. I have a dd from ivf in 2006. I am 40 in October. I am hoping to do another ivf cycle in early 2009. I will be doing acp as well.

Keep me posted and wishing you and your dh the very very best of luck.

Best wishes to you and I will praying for good news!

I didn't think I'd ever come back to this board, but it's addicting. I've been through 2 IUI's, 2 IVF's and I am debating if I can do this again. I have 2 frozen embies...and I turn 43 in Dec. I just don't know what I want to do, I don't think I could handle another M/C....I don't know the 1st thing about doing a FET at my age and I'm not sure about the costs or success rate either.

Sha1,
I will be forty one in nov. I will be starting my first ivf attempt the first week in nov. I start taking meds in a couple of weeks. Not sure what all im taking, but sounds like a lot. follistim is the main one. alot of it too. I have low ovarian reserve and very high fsh. I was told only twenty percent chance with ivf and all of the meds. What about you. Do you have high fsh? Good luck.

Thank you to everyone that responded.

I am still on Lupron and going for AP treatments twice a week; my baseline appointment is scheduled for 10/7; hopefully something good will come out of it.

WISCONSINGAL: The message board is addicting; but it’s nice to speak with someone going thru the same thing. Good luck with your decision; I know how you feel about the M/C; it will definitely be worse for me if it works this time and ends in M/C again. If you decided to do the FET; I seem to think the success rate is higher and the cost is cheaper because they don’t have to do retrieval. Keep me posted.

NY4thtry: I have read your previous postings to the message board about your changing doctors; glad that you found someone. I just started AP about 2 weeks ago and gave up caffeine. I should try the wheatgrass pill and fish oil; how do they help? I know how you feel; this is my last time so I thought I would try everything, I should have started AP before now. Good Luck!

Mrscutter: Good Luck; you may feel a little overwhelmed with the medication as to how much and when to take but I all works out; it’s not as bad as it looks. I am also taking follistim; I was on a dosage of 375; but my doctor just increase it to 400 for my last cycle.

I did start AP this cycle; after reading on this message board I wanted to give it a try; it is supposed to help with blood circulation.

My doctor never took the fsh test; so I have no idea with the percentage is.

Good luck again with everything and keep me posted.
