IVF after kids

Post by babyluv »

Quick questions for those going through IVF (or have gone through it) who already have children.

We have two amazing kiddos, ages 3 & 1, both adopted. This is our first try at IVF and I've done a pretty good job taking it easy the past two days (transfer was yesterday with two 2bb blasts...1aa being the highest at our clinic), but my sis is leaving tomorrow and dh is on a business trip. So the question is...how did you take it easy with young kids at home?! Did you still get pregnant? I know I can't worry about it, that I need to do as little as possible and still take care of the kiddos, but just curious if there were any tips I was missing.

Thanks!

Hi Babyluv

Gosh you have your Hands full with a 3 and 1yr old. how lovely! I have a 3.5 yr old , 17yr old and work part time - so quite busy I suppose. I am in the 2 week wait at mo and had a failed cycle in June also. Too be honest, live life as normal as possible and just avoid heavy lifting, ie, don't let the 3 yr old hang off you but picking up is fine. Don't do mad spring cleaning, just take things a little steadier because that will make you feel better. The embryos won't fall out and if they are going to implant they will do that on their own accord. Being relaxed ie as norm as poss is the best advice I can give.

Good luck

P.s My 3.5 yr old was a successful Ivf and I followed the above

Thanks Prawn! And good luck with your 2ww...when is your beta?

Considering I had to rush my 1 year old to the doctor this afternoon for stiches (only needed a little head glue thankfully...but MAN that was a lot of blood! Darn TV stands...), I'll have to just take it on faith that if this pregnancy is meant to be, it will be! Life goes on. God knows what He's doing!

Gosh, glad your little one only needed some glueing!

My clinic doesn't do betas but I have to do a pregnancy test (HPT) next wednesday which will be 14 days from Embryo transfer. I am actually beginning to get really nervous now and have to calm myself down a bit. I hate the second week and find this bit hard. But like you say what will be, will be and its all out of our control.

I'm still hoping tho! When do you do your beta?

My beta is next Thursday, so it sounds like we're right on the same schedule. Good luck to us both! My oldest was 3 in June, so really we could have kids the same age! Ah, that would be nice...
