tolbee - my bed rest is going alright - i do get bored and I do get bugged NOT being able to do just regular/normal things. such as folding laundry i have been asking my DH to do it and he keeps telling me he will get to it and it's bugging the crap out of me.

I want things nice/clean and done right away and he likes to take his sweet ole time. I do understand he is helping me BUT i am just driving myself insane.

Suga - glad to hear you are sleeping when you get a chance!!

Sara - wow, 2 kids and then twins! you are gonna be one busy mommy~ I have 3 1/2 yr old toddler right now and twins on the way and I am not sure how I'm gonna handle all this lol

so - ok I went for my check up and the doctor said I need to gain more weight!! i mean seriously it's not like i am starving myself - I have been eating non-stop and I eat EVERYTHING lol so i am not sure why I haven't gained that much~

I have always been very petite - before I got pregnant I only weighed 94lbs now I weigh 116 ~ and I dunno how much more I need to gain and how to gain more :(

any advise on that??

sameera: If you were that petite before pregnancy, with twins they want you to gain like 60 pounds. No joke. Because they need to get enough nutrients to gain weight themselves. BUT make sure you eat healthy stuff and not junk food. I only gained 19 pounds but I am a little overweight so it was ok (so they said...I think I should have gained a little more so they would have been bigger at 30 weeks).

We gave the girls baths today...*sigh* They love the bath itself but when we have to dress them and put lotion on them they scream their heads off lol.

I need to get out and exercise but it is hard to find the time or energy...someday. I know it takes normal people awhile to lose the weight but I hate movie stars who lose it over night lol. Stinkers!

Hi Ladies:
Thanks for replying to my post. Sara, you and I are in the same boat. I have a 7 and 5 yr old (both boys). My dh and I decided to use the last of our frozen embies and see what happens...twins was quite a surprise!
We are happy, but we are so busy right now, we just can't imagine.
Sameera, I am sorry to hear you are on bed rest, but glad to know your dh is helping you. I can understand how you feel in regards to things being done just a certain way...it's okay though, you need to rest.
Sugabeanz, I am glad to know you got a teensy bit of rest.

Things I have learned:

Never leave home with out a pacifier.
Never leave home when they are about to eat
Do not DO NOT get them off schedule and do not let them get you off schedule

Yeah.

Mackenzie had congestion today so I, of course, freaked out and took her to the doctor. The NICU nurses scared the crap out of me with the RSV virus stuff. It is just "baby congestion" where they do not know how to swallow thick spit or blow their nose. What? And she has not pooped in 2 days which makes me nervous of course and they are not worried as long as her tummy does not get hard. THEN the nurse tells me to boil 4 oz of water and put 2 tsp of sugar in there and let her suck on that?? WHAT?! I was told by the NICU nurses and doctors no water before 1 year of age. Then they tell me (the pedit.) that if she has hard stools to mix prune juice and water (Again, no juice or water before 1) So I am totally confused! So if she does not poop what do I do!? Suggestions?

Anyways, today was interesting to say the least....did I mention that formula is expensive especially for 2?!

Suga, don't worry about exercising! Really, who has time and not to mention energy!? When I had my singleton, I gave birth in Feb and I was back to my original size by 6 month post-partum. Now, I am no where near my original size and I got pregnant again!
When my babies were constipated, I gave them pear juice with added water and it worked really well. We also did the Q-tip trick and those things combied, it always worked.

Sameera, I need one of you at my house. My laundry never gets folded and they are piled up mile high on my bed bench.

I am in the process of hiring nanny right now as I am going back to work from Nov. It's a bigger process than I imagined.

Anyway, I better work on the nanny business before the kids wake up.

suga - wow what a stressful day! well, you really shouldn't worry about your size right now. You have a lot of other things to worry about besides all this moving around/feeding babies will get you back to your old size :)

as far as listening to the nurses DON'T just call the pediatrician and ask just to be safe. I mean I know nurses may not what they are talking about but they aren't doctors.

Hope everything is fine with the babies :)

Kimi - I really hope you find you a nanny! and you are very brave to go back to work :) You know if I was close to you I would definitely help you with your laundry folding lol in return of your twin consultation and advise :)

Hi everyone~!
Suga, love reading your posts. I am so freaked about how we are going to care for FOUR kids....but the good news is my oldest is in first grade and my daughter is in pre k 4 days a week right now thru winter (plus ski school) so we might survive it. I think mornings and evenings are going to be filled with action. I have my in laws for 2 weeks after babies get here, and then my parents for a month, and my auntie for a month so we will have help the first three months...I might have to give in to a nanny though bc I still want to be involved in my older kids schools. Plus I dont plan on bringing the babies our this winter. We live in a resort town and there is too much sickness that time of the year. My daughter had RSV when she was six weeks old and was in the hosp for 8 days. It was so scary...I dont want to re live that!
Sameera, I empathsize with you. I have hoped to not go on bed rest as I am so type a with my house. I like everything put away and organized. My DH is so great but doesnt always do things like I do. Enjoy someone else folding laundry for a change!!! How is your daughter doing with all of this?
Twin Mamas: At my peri last week we found out Baby A is smaller than she should be. Her stomach (!?) measurements are smaller than Twin B by 3 weeks. They want me back in three weeks (31 weeks) to see how she is doing. If she doesnt grow a signifigant amt they want to induce me, as she will do better on the outside (at 32 weeks?!). Has anyone experienced this and what was the outcome?!
Hope everyone is having a nice Fall week!

Oh my goodness. . .the things I miss!!!!! Seems like forever since I have been here and so much has happened! The babies are so busy now that I rarely have time to write. Bodie walks everywhere and I am trying to get ahead on the house and yard before winter hits but I am not making much progress yet!

Sarahalf~ I never had what you are experiencing but I wish you luck! Hopefully the next three weeks will bring you more time to cook those little ones. Keep us updated for sure!!! I was a nanny for years while I was in college and LOVED it so if you ever need any help interviewing or anything please let me know. The right nanny can make life so great for everyone involved. It's really the best of all worlds when used properly.

Kimi~ If you need any help as well with the nanny thing. . . please call! Back to work huh? Are you still on maternity leave or will you be gettin an entirely new job? How will all that work with the new one on the way? You better just move back here!!!! I'll nanny for you and our babies can just be best of friends!

Suga~ It seems you are learning quite a lot now days! :D Some helpful hints that helped me were: If you need to drive somewhere try to schedule it when ther are about to nap. Mine would fall asleep in the car in seconds so it really kept me on track. When you get home from an outing, change EVERYTHING! I would put it all in the laundry from their clothes and blankets to my clothes. My babies only once for a day had a runny nose and still have not been sick! Lastly, a q-tip and vasaline is a hero EVERYTIME!!!! The sugar water never helped my babies and I refused to do the juice thing so either a thermometer or a q-tip never failed me. When my kids started eating solids at 6 months prunes were a god send!!!! Now we haven't had a day of constipation since!!! HURRAY! Let us know how it's going!

Kimmysq~ Congrats!!!! Twins are so great! Things will fall into place and we will be here every step of the way!

Sameera~ The weight thing is a bummer! I gained 28 lbs. total and am pretty small myself. You are very petite but honestly as long as you healthy I wouldn't worry. You probably need afew extra but don't fret over it. I drank juice to pack on extra calories and was craving fruit really bad! Also, I snakced on CLiff bars all the time. I was eating 3500 calories a day and tried so hard to gain weight but just couldn't. I am 5'2" and normally weigh about 110-115 but my OB just kept saying he'd rather it be good weight than bad. My babies were pretty big at 34 weeks when I delivered as well. too bad for me that all the sudden I started gaining weight out of nowhere! who knows why???? Good luck! I was a good thing my bedrest was at the hopital because I would have gone crazy at home!!!!

It's been a busy week for me! This weekend gets even busier with b-day parties and big yearly events to go to with the babies. They are so big now. Bodie walks everywhere and they both run around saying "YES" all day! It's adorable! Today Annelise stuck her finger in Bodie's mouth and he bit her pretty hard! She was so hurt and she literally shunned him for half the day! She couldn't believe this boy she loves so much would hurt her!!! He's a little devil some days! It's so funny to see how "Boy" and "girl" they really are!

Have a great night everyone!

sara - oh my goodness you poor thing well hang in there and hopefully everything will be fine. I hope in 3 weeks you gain few more pounds so the babies can stay in you and grow :)

Kholtan - yay you are so awesome - thanks for calming my nerves down. I was going insane thinking and regretting and blaming myself for not gaining enough weight. But you made me feel better - I will keep doing what i am doing and hopefully before babies are born I have gained enough :)

Suga - hope your babies are doing well :)

Glad to help Sameera!!! I think a lot of people have a hard time grasping that it really is hard to gain weight. Keep up your good work. It does help when you get to see your little babies on the u/s and then your fears are disolved so quickly. All we can ever do is our very best! HUGS!

We are in for a crazy weekend! DH has just decided we are going to the coast!!! YIKES!!! At the last minute he has just got the itch for some ocean jet skiing so here we go! I am trying to pack and get ready as fast as I can but of course I had to say have a great weekend to all my mommy friends! I'll report back later for sure!

Take care~

Last night was a night...again. Mackenzie threw up early evening so I knew I was in for a night. She was hungry most of it and had gas so did not want to sleep so I was up with her....I tried to let her cry it out most of the time but she was not having it. So it was rough last night to say the least. I think around 4am she finally fell asleep but then it was time for Brooke to wake up and eat...*sigh*

I think the meds she is on for her liver (billy reuben still high from the iv she was on for so long) is making her sick sometimes. So I have to have a chat with them about that because she throws up sometimes once a day which is not good. So Tuesday I will ask about it.

Ok, I need my girls to get on the same eating schedule it is killing me at night! Plus, they are so constipated (formula maybe) and the prune juice just gives them gas which makes them fussy. So I think I might just have to go and get them a suppository to help push things along a little. TMI but their poop is like modeling clay when they can actually push it out.

Little rant: last night I just had a break down because my husband and I were being so mean and rude to one another. He just kept giving me mean looks at asking him to help with some things then I was growing resentful of him because he got to sleep through the night. Plus, we literally have not made time for one another so that does not help. So in my crying fit last night we talked about how we need to spend more time with one another or the marriage will not work. It is amazing how much you love your little ones no matter how tired but at the same time you are like...crap what did we do! These are ours for the rest of eternity! So ladies, make sure you make time with your hubbies to make it work!

I went and bought running shoes yesterday and I am going to start Weight Watchers in a week (after all the junk is out of the house...lol one more week of eating the "good" stuff!) so hopefully the baby weight and fertility treatment weight will fall off here soon.

Hi girls!!!!!

I've missed you! I finally have power back. 10 days...yes TEN FLIPPIN' DAYS without power...arrrgggh! Kholtan--I kept thinking of those poor people in TExas. I know we had it EASY compared to them!

Kimmy--congrats! The first couple of months with twins is stressful--as suga can attest to. BUT, it does pass. Mine started sleeping through the night around 10 weeks, and that's when everything started to turn around. Just try to get them on a similar schedule as soon as you can. And sleep when they are...especially while your others are at school. Good luck!

Suga--I hope you're hanging in there. WE had some constipation issues too. We did use the sugar water sometimes, and it worked half the time. I just used a thermometer up the bum, and that usually did the trick. Good luck with the wedges...and sleep! Don't stress about the weight yet...it takes time. I started running when my kids were about 9 or 10 weeks (once I was sleeping more). I was lucky because my kids were big enough by then to go in my jogging stroller, so I took them with me (plus it was still warm outside). I've done WW too--I think it helped a ton! Even with working out daily and WW, it still took me about 8 months to lose it all. What formula are you on? Sam's Club here in Ohio has good deals on Similac and Enfamil.

Sameera--sorry to hear that you lost power too...just be glad the babies weren't with you yet! I have no advice on the weight thing--I had plenty to spare!

Kimi--good luck with the nanny hunt...and the job hunt!

sara--I didn't have that issue. Wishing you the best. Keep us posted!

Kholtan--hope you had a fun trip to the coast! DId I hear you right--are both kiddos walking? Yeah!

We just took our kids down to one nap this weekend. So far, so good! THey took a 3 hour nap yesterday and 2 1/2 today. It definitely opens up our day for more activity, which is good! And, they are sooooo tired by bedtime--poor things!

Kim,
Wondering how you got them to sleep thru the night at 10 weeks. I think I could get thru anything if I knew I could figure that one out!

Sara--we worked really HARD at it....first of all, I've heard (maybe it's a wive's tale) that once they get to around 10 or 12 pounds, their tummies are big enough to keep them full overnight (I'm talking 8 hours...). That seemed to be true for us. I read BABYWISE, and I really stuck with it. The book teaches you how to sleep train, in a sense. We did a wake-eat-play-sleep routine throughout the days and nights. It seemed to work. My kiddos learned pretty earl on how to soothe themselves to sleep. It wasn't always easy, but sleep is so important to me, that i knew I had to get them sleeping overnight as soon as i could. I also use the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child a lot too. I've found that book to be very helpful--especially as the kids have gotten older.

Now, I also have to mention that they started sleeping through the night when they started weaning from me and getting more formula. I've read that breast milk vs. formula shouldn't make a difference, but I have a suspicion that it did make a difference for my kiddos. But, we'll never really know.

The good news is, that all babies eventually sleep through the night-...
:) It's just hard for exhausted mama's to ever believe that it will happen for them.
