Good Morning Ladies - Happy Wednesday, we are half way to the weekend - yeah!!! I just wanted to hop on and tell everyone to have a great Wednesday.

I have heard about the acupuncture but I am a total wimp and I know I would never be able to let someone put needles in me like that - although I bet it is super relaxing.

NY4thtry - Hang in there, you will get through all of this. Once you start stimming and get all those great eggs it will be all worth it. I haven't seen anyone do as much as you have to have the best shot with their cycle. You are defiantly a courageous women. Keep it up and time will fly and this will all be over before you know it.

NY4thtry - I agree with to_have_fun 08 - hang in there - it will all be worth it in the end. That brings up another question to you ladies who have done this before, is it a general rule that the the medication really make you gain around 10 lbs? I had heard this before and I just lost 20 lbs in order to get on the low end of my weight scale and seeing that kind of scares me.

The medication doesnt make you gain any wieght..perhaps just makes you a bit bloated

My first two cycles i dodnt gain any weight but i had stayed ion my exercise regimen.. for me it is the fact that i have now cut back my exercise dramatically quit caffeine and smoking.. plus i am making sure that i eat really well.. I was on the thin side 5'9 124 lbs..

I dont know that dieting is a good thing before a cycle .. fat is where our estrogen is stored i would make sure i was eating really well

foreverlove-- If I did gain weight it was only a couple of pounds. Thank god because I am already overweight. Plus if I did gain weight I don't know if I could really blame it on the IVF. I wouldn't worry too much. Just watch what you eat and try and stay away from all the unhealthy food and you should be all right. Though, you are talking about having ER the week of Thanksgiving so I say good luck on not gaining any weight. Like NY4thtryn said prepared to get really bloated. I felt like I was carrying around a watermelon during stims and I only had 11 follicles.

Thanks girls, you made me feel better. I was thinking to myself that everyone would know I was trying if I all the sudden gained 10 lbs. How long does the bloated feeling last? So I am still very new to this process so I dont know about how long you are on different meds and how long you stim or whatnot.

Foreverlove - Usually you will take the stimming drugs from anywhere between 7 & 14 days. I have seen a couple women go longer but not too many. The first couple of days of stims are fine, once my follicles started getting bigger, that is when i started to get the bloating feeling. That lasted till a day or two after ER. I don't know if your RE is like mine but once I started stims DH and I also had to take Doxicyiclin (sp). I hated that more then stims, it made me feel just blaahhhh and sometimes and upset stomach even when i took it with food. Dh also didn't like it.

KAS - How did your RE appointment go? You know I did some more checking on DHEA today. There was an article from the Mayo clinic that stated that DHEA does increase estrogen levels so I am going to stay away from it. I sincerley hope that it helps all you ladies that are taking it. It sounds really promising even thought there are not any real studies that prove what it does.

Foreverlove I only put on a few pounds as well but i think most of that came on as i usually work out and excercise, then suddenly i stopped and became a blob on the couch for a few weeks at end of stims through the 2 week wait!!!!

Well i saw the RE and i really like him - he's very down to earth and gave me a new protocol. before i was on follistim and menopur, now we will try the short Lupron, which is much better for poor responders. He said my FSH & estradiol were good and didnt indicate diminished ovarian reserve, but said that sometimes when tubes are removed, you lose some blood flow to the ovaries (tubes supply some of the blood) so they are a bit 'sleepy' and dont produce high numbers of eggs.

He said my embies (showed him the photo) looked great and he would grade them 1-2 so we should continue to concentrate on quality not quantity. I will do 75mg of DHEA and he gave me a copy of some report showing it had yielded great results in poor responders/older patients. He also listened very carefully to my case for doing some antibiotic therapy. I had printed off some info for him about it and said i wanted to try. He said he would look into it and as long as it was not harmful, he will instigate something along those lines for me. He feels maybe my problem was implantation as embies loked great and will also put me on Heprin a blood thinner. He also gave me 50% chance this cycle (higher than last RE) and is half the cost.

Now for the bad news:

He doesnt want me to start the bcp's on October, but November to give the DHEA time to kick in. Yes i'm disappointed because now i will be doing stims, ER,ET in December and all you guys will be Preggo by then !!!

So i will hang around here for a while, sad that i wont be here for the whole journey with you, but i'm staying put for now X X X

Forever Well alright then!!!! Lets make this the OCT/NOV/DEC board from now on!!!!! If AF plays ball she will come on 5th Oct then again on 3rd Nov, so i will start bcp's then. I will still be Waaay behind you girls as i will have to have 3 weeks on the bcp, then AF then stims I THINK - this Lupron protocol could differ slightly, but i dont think so.

I think it will be better for me to bring up the rear on this board anyway as when i got my BFN on th last board i hung around for a few days and then dropped out as i felt kind of arkward and i feel guilty about that but it was hurting me to keep on there so i will do a great job of bringig up the rear on this one!!!!

To have fun Wow second time i've heard negative things about DHEA now!!!!! The scepticism is starting to creep in now on my 'wonder drug' !!!!

Everyone - on the notes from my new RE IVF packet for 2 week wait POST- Transfer instructions it says and i quote " some studies have suggested that you should have regular intercourse during this period. It is possible that seminal fluid has factors that may increase implantation"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH says really casually "yeah, that makes sense" Ha Ha he loves this RE

mrscutter - Welcome to the board. Is this your first IVF. Looks like you will one of our first on this board to get a BFP.

Kas - I think DHEA sounds like a really good thing. There is a lady on the ivillage board and she had a couple of unsuccessful cycles. I think her next step was DE. Well she decided to take some time off and do DHEA and ended up PG on her own. (i know that sounds rediculous, who knew you can get pg without needles, Us/ b/w etc  ) So it does sound like DHEA can be beneficial for some. I just don't want my E2 to go any higher, last 2 cycles it was 81 when I started stims and that is right on the boarder to get canceled due to a high e2 level. Glad you liked your RE and also glad to hear about the IC idea. Though last cycle I just felt so weird I didn't even want to think about IC and I am a sex phen. No problem making this a Oct/Nov/Dec board. If everything goes well I won't have ER till the week before Thanksgiving. My Beta won't be till the first week on December. Hoping and praying that it wont be the 5th because that doesn't seem like a good number for me. We will all have the best Christmas presents ever.

As for DHEA i have been taking it.. even thought i knew my new RE is against it i went for an in person meeting with dr sher of SIRM today and DH outed me.. SHer says that it is absolutely bad especially for older women becsue it turns into testosterone.. i am not sure i agree even though i think he is an amazing dr who has done alot of seminole work..

he wants me to stop asap DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO...
