How long do I have to assist my baby when he burps?

There are some nights we can not get a burp b/c he falls asleep. We do everything to get one, but can not. Does anyone else have this problem?

If he is calm and sleepy whilst feeding then he may not be taking in any air. If he doesn't burp and falls asleep I wouldn't worry, if he's got wind it'll wake him up

I second what the previous poster said. There are times...mostly early mornings when my twins are tired, when I will not get burps.
At other times, if they won't burp, I hear them burp while they lie on their tummies or are in the Jumperoo...

If your baby is asleep, let the baby sleep. Don't push the poor thing.

I was told that it wasn't necessary to burp bub any longer once he could sit up as they naturally bring it up themselves and if bub doesn't seem to be worried when you don't get a burp up and he doesn't wake from wind pain i wouldn't worry. My son had colic when a new born so for me it was important to make sure i heard a big burp before putting him down otherwise no sooner than i put him down he'd be screaming in pain another thing is if you get the burp out before the wind gets to far through his system it's easier to get out otherwise you need to wait with a crying baby until it comes out the other end

I have twins and one was a burper and the other RARELY burped and both were fine. Maybe you ordered one of those burp free models??? Good luck either way!
