Kimmy: Congratulations on your NT. Feel up to sharing your calculations?
We are going to do an amnio. I guess I was keeping it quiet since I felt some sensitivity about it on an earlier posting. I’m not too excited about the risk, but we feel like we just have to know. We’re scheduled for 11/5 which will be 16 weeks. It takes two weeks for the results. We have the level two ultrasound scheduled for 20 weeks. Our HMO will only do the FTS/NT if you definitely don’t want the amnio. So we won’t get to do that.
SilverAngel679: The glucose was sweet, but it didn’t strike me as strongly as it did you. I was just happy the numbers turned out okay. Last time, they wanted to monitor me for pre-diabetes. That was a bummer because I love bread – no Atkins for me!
Happy for all of you with great ultra sounds and active little sweeties.

Hi:
My number were under 1.5. After reading your post I will be so mad if I can't get an amnio b/c I got the nuchal test. The Peri I spoke with said that using Nuchal for multiples is fairly new and the blood work is mixed. He still felt that we should do a level 2 and if things didn't look good, we could do an amnio then. Now I am totally wondering about insurance. When my OB's office set up the test they didn't question me on what I wanted, just said this is your next step. ARgh!
I did do Amnio's with my other two sons. I know there is a slight risk of m/c, but it is less than 1%. I just want to be prepared with knowledge. It is not for everyone, and I wish it was not for me. Being over 40, I think it is important.
Good luck with yours.
Kim
Didn’t mean to make you nervous. It’s probably just my insurance. We are with an HMO and they have very particular systems. It is hard to get used to after the high-level care at the fertility doc.

so I am on bed rest right now-for the rest of week. Yesterday I was rushed to the hospital with MASSIVE bleeding. when I say massive I mean red blood just POURING out of me for about an hour. I had no clots or pain at all. They did the US and both babies were just fine. I saw my ob/gyn today and he seems to think that I burst a cervical vessel. The babies were still just fine today. Monday is my NT test, we sould know more then.

Good Morning Every One. I just wanted to come on and post our happy little results. My husband and I went in for an early gender determination scan at a 3d unltra sound clinic and I am happy to report that with 85% accuracy at 13 weeks 1 day pregnant we are expecting a Boy and a Girl!!
We're so happy. That's exactly the combination that we where hoping to get and we counldn't be more thrilled.
We've started calling the babies by there names already and they seem so much more real to us now.
Hi to all my preggers friends out there. Just want to share my experience with the NT scan with everyone, because if it puts at least 1 ladies mind at ease it will have been worth it. I had my scan on 9/30-the us was good-the nuchal cord measured 1.5-the bloodwork, not so good. At 35, my risk of downs syndrome was about 1 in 200-after the bloodwork-my risk was 1 in 49. Dh & I decided on the cvs (very uncomfortable, by the way) this has been the most miserable 10 days of my life waiting for the results. I am happy to say that finally today I got the GREAT news that our baby BOY is just fine!!!!! So please everyone understand that if you have not so great results with the screening, that it is just that-A SCREENING and that something like the cvs or amnio is the only for sure way to know. Best of pregnancies to all!!!!!!!!!
Jennywit: Thanks for sharing. Glad everything is looking good. Just wondering why you choose CVS over Amnio? Was it timing?
This morning I had an ultrasound during my final RE visit. He identified some excess fluid at the base of the spine and recommends we follow up with an NT scan. The size and heart beat look fine. I am 12w2d today. My age-related risk is 1 in 104. I am trying to stay positive, but it’s hard not to worry.

Siouxsie, yes, we chose the NT because of the timing, I just couldn't handle any more of a wait-this whole entire process has been nothing but a wait, so because this was something I had control over, I went with it. As far as I understand, the only advantage of an amnio is spinal cord issues which cvs won't tell you. But my concern was the increased risk of downs syndrome after finding out my bloodwork. I will also have a 4d scan at 20 wks to check the entire anatomy. Good luck and stay positive-don't get caught up with any bad thoughts. 1 in 49 wasn't a good number but my boy is just fine!!!!
Hey everyone just wanted to stop by and post the link to the slide show that we used to break the news to every one that we're pregnant. We just started spreading the news and I sent this out in an e-mail to all our friends and family titled "Tom & Liz's Anniversary slide show."
Well, they where in for a surprise!! I got so many great responses and it turns out that I did it really good becasue I shocked more people than not.
I just thought maybe you ladies would like to check it out as well.
Any one else break the news in any creatine ways?
I just got my NT test results back...
Both babies had 1 in 2000 for DS and 1 in 3000 for Trisony (SP?)
My age risk was 1 in 96. He said I had the risk of a 22 year old and that each baby had a 1/10 of 1% chance.
Based onthis info, my husband and I have decided not to do te amnio on either baby.
I am officially 14 weeks on Monday!!
