I just recently went through my 2nd IVF. I ended up with a positive beta of 223 , then 4 days later 444, than 4 days later 500 something. My Dr. told me that the numbers wern't going up like they should, so she wanted me to stop my meds and I would get a period in a few days. Do you think my situation would be considered a chemical or a miscarriage? They never really told me what it was. I am curious because I am researching what my chances are for concieving on my next IVF. Thanks for any help.

If the pregnancy is lost before ultrasound confirmation, then it's typically called a biochemical pregnancy.

If it's somewhere besides the uterus, then it's an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopics are characterized by low and lazy hCG curves. I assume your doctor will do follow-up labs to verify your hCG values are resolving. If they do not resolve quickly, he/she may want to try an ultrasound to identify the implantation site, and he/she might give you a medication to help it to resolve.
