hiya everybody~
Im just back from egg collection and still feeling woozy from the drugs. I feel disappointed as they only got 4 eggs from my 6 follicles. And then they had to do ICSI as my poor Hubbs sperm was of low quality today. (Last time we did not need ICSI). I am feeling discouraged and just hoping for good fertilization. They will call us in the morning with the report. I am feeling low and hope a nap helps my PMA.

i wanted to thank you all and especially toobee for all the advice on OHSS. I am trying to head it off at the pass by drinking tons of gatorade and DH cooked me up a meal of bacon and eggs just now. i ate almost the whole package of bacon! I figure that is probably the saltiest protein you can find!

4 eggs is great and better than what allot of woman get. But I know this is nail biting time for you and I was the same way. Hang tight and try really hard to think posisitve. Sending good vibrations out can only help. I really hope I dindt freak you out about the OHSS but glad to hear your being proactive. I just wanted to make sure you eat healthy still, a pound of bacon may be a little over kill  I never did do bacon but did allot of canned soups...and Drinking lots of gatorade isnt necessary...but gatorade will be better than water if you get OHSS.....If you havnet had any symptoms you should be fine but remember:

Watch your weight everyday, more than 2 pounds a day increase is an almost sure sign...also moniter how much you pee, meaning make sure your peeing out as much as what your taking in.....an check your urine to make sure its mostly clear or very light yellow...if it gets dark or colored tell your RE

SueQiwi~ You should feel good that you have 4 good eggs. The fact that they had to do ICSI may not lower your chances to have perfect embies. Keep believing that it will all turn out ok.

I hope to see a great report from you real soon. I think all 4 will make it!
I'm glad that you are taking proactive action against OHSS. You may not get it at all and the best is to keep monitoring yourself.
You're in my thoughts and sending you all the baby dust I can put my hands on.

Toobee~ SOOOOOO HAPPY that zofran has become your best friend. What a difference a night makes. And what incredible relief! Don't do too much now either...the babies are not used to that!

I'm doing well. My PMA is strong and believe that I will have a good outcome.
I ate every single hour yesterday. It was just insane. I hope baby is eating all of that too and catching up as fast as possible. Still starving today and after eating so much, I'm running out of ideas for what to eat. Can't complain one bit as I believe that baby will grow faster.
I'm having a lot of pulling in my abdomen and I think that's real good. My nurse said that it was a very good sign.
I'm as optimistic as I can be and that is ALL I can do. The rest is out of my hands.

I hope everyone is doing well and having a good weekend. We're having tons of rain here since 1am. I was awakened by the rain, the cat and lots of dreams.
We have a party to attend tonight which sounds really good and they'll have lots of great food. Can't get any better than that. :D

Much love to all!

[/b]valerie - way to go girl. Eggs, eggs, eggs, - eat 'em. eggs and FAT - guacamole, mayonaise, oils, butter, whatever. Protein and fats will make the little one grow and take your folic and prenatal and eat calcium too. so happy for you, and I have heard of stories JUST LIKE YOURS that ended in a perfectly normal healthy pregnancy. protein at every meal, girl.

suiqiwi For a high FSH 39 year old, 4 eggs is great. I had 5 follies and 3 eggs (it's really the E2 number that will tell you the number of eggs you will get. - about 200-300 per egg,so I had 5 follies but my E2 was around 900 so I knew there would be 3 good eggs.)

ICSI is GOOD news because ICSI will increase your chances of fertilization. Remember - I had 2 embryos, and now have 2 inside me growing. Four is a good number. really. You're doing great.

Too Bee - wow. it's the triplets. Poor girl gets three times the morning sickness. I'm so sorry. I'm not eating too many veggies but I am keeping food down. I've been eating a lot of penne marinara or bolognese. and probably not enough dairy or greens. it's hard. I do my best to eat as well rounded as I can, but I'm averse to a lot of foods. Your nausea sounds horrendous and I really feel for you. Hope the meds help. I'm thinking of you.

I'm well. Spotting stopped again and I am incorporating naps into my day when I can and whether or not I feel like it. I always fall asleep and when I wake, I feel like my body feels peaceful and happy that I did that.

So glad for everyone here. This is a strong and great group of women.
Plus it's fun to share with you all, as my news is still 'a secret' to the rest of the world.

best,

stefanie

Hiya everybody~
I am so happy to say that 4 out of 4 eggs fertilized! I am feeling relieved and hopeful again. Thank you for your support and pma--it helps so much.

ICSI still freaks me out a bit as it seems so unnatural. Instead of Mother Nature pairing up an egg and sperm to make a new life--it is Glen my embryologist! I suppose this whole IVF process is quite unnatural and I should just be happy the technology exists so I may have a baby.

Val~I am thinking of you and your baby everyday. I am so glad you are feeling hopeful and hungry! I know this is going to work our for you. I am just sorry you yet another nearly 2ww!

Stephanie~You are so right about 4 eggs being a lot for a woman of my age and circumstance. I am grateful for the reminder. As a low responder, you are an inspiration to me and I hope to follow in your foot steps.

toobee~Thank you again for all the advice on OHSS. I do feel a bit weird and am drinking more than I am peeing! So I am going to keep a close eye of things here. I am still feeling achey in my abdomen from egg retrieval as well--last time it didnt hurt quite so much. I am so happy to hear you have solved the naseousness!

Chris~thanks for being there with your support.

SUEKIWI - LOL . I had never even thought of ICSI being weird, I guess once we were headed down the ART route - all notion of nature turned to how thanks to the evolution of science - we had an inkling of hope. LOL

I was glad they were doing ICSI ( even though it tacked on another 1600 bucks!) and we did assisted hatching too, but I was glad because when I had two eggs they both fertilized and when I had three, two did. pretty good odds when I was dealing w/ a small amount of eggs.

four for four though, way to go!!!! wow. this is incredible news. I have such a good feeling there for you. Those are great numbers.

Now soak your feet in epsom salts if you can before transfer. stay on the table for a good half an hour. (If they want to move you, tell them you'd like another ten minutes.) and really chill for 2-3 days. after.

eat protein and fat. protein and fats. Eggs are the perfect protien. I had some hard boiled on hand for the duration. and water water water.

good luck, can't wait to hear how it all goes. this thread is like THE thread for older, poor responder, success stories. I would say you are well on your way to being one too.

best,
stefanie

Sueqiwi~ I knew it!! 4 out of 4 is awesome news. I am so happy for you! I can see great embies in your future. :D Let us know about your next report when you get it. Are they shooting to do a 5dt?

Renee~ Tomorrow is your big day when you will get your BFP!
Best of luck and I will be thinking about you a lot. Keep your PMA strong!
Can't wait to hear your news.

Stefanie~ I'm so glad you're doing so well and that the spotting stopped again.
I wanted to ask you why it's important to eat fats. I knew about protein being very important but not fats. I'm on the pretty skinny side and don't have any reserves. I was wondering if that could affect the baby's development. I eat a lot and consume way more calories than before. I'm not gaining any weight and I assume that my metabolism has increased even more.
I don't like to talk to much about this as women struggle with their weight but it has me concerned quite a bit.
You seem to know a lot about this and really appreciate your help.

I hope all the girls are doing well and surviving their m/s.
I'm doing fine....super duper tired today and could not get off my butt. The hunger doesn't let up and I figure it's still a good sign.

Have a great evening!

Hiya Everybody~
I am so happy to say that we are still 4 for 4! All four embies are dividing properly and growing strong! I feel very lucky to have beaten the odds. We will be transferring two tomorrow morning. I wanted to put more back--but they won't let me. Embryo replacement is government regulated in New Zealand and the most I am permitted for age 39 is two. They also don't do the 5-day transfers over here--so it will be a 3-day transfer.

I am still experiencing abdominal pain and cramping from egg retrieval. I just hope my uterous settles down by tomorrow! Did anybody else have pain 2 days after retrieval?

Renee~I am thinking of you and wishing for your BFP! Tomorrow is the big day--hang in there and trust that the news will be good. Know that we are all pulling for you and there is much baby dust flying all the way out to Hawaii!

SueQiwi~ That is THE best news! Incredible that you have 4 for 4!! You can be a proud mama already. I hope you get to freeze the other two.
Got my fingers crossed for you and sending you loads of baby dust.
The first retrieval, I had major pain and it lasted for a few days. This time, no pain whatsoever. I don't know why each time would be different. I think you should be fine, but for reassurance, I would call your nurse and RE.

Toobee~ I'm so glad that the zofran is still helping you so well. Wow, what a relief it must be. And I'll gladly take some of your reserves. I can't wait to get a belly ( which I have already from all the bloating). I bet you are going to start showing early...3 babies take a lot of room in there. I'm so happy that they're doing so well! Keep up the good work! Don't you love that some people have noticed already? That's really wonderful.

Turtles~ Hope the m/s is not too bad for you. How is it going these days?

Well, gotta go to work while I still have the energy. Glad today is not like yesterday because there's no way I could have worked. So hungry though.

Much love to all.

Renee - Remind me, did you have a 3 day transfer or a 5 day transfer? You did have a really early beta so you still have a shot. Just as long as the # keeps rising. You will be able to tell lots more with your Beta on Wednesday. Gosh what a roller coaster ride this is.
