Suga~ Sorry you're having such a bummer of a time. Don't worry though because it takes time for everyone. Your girls were very early and it may take them longer. There were days were I would call the routine quits by the lunch hour and just start back up again the next morning with a fresh attitude. I also read the book about 10 times! Seriously! I read it while nursing almost everyday until we got it down. Have faith! You'll get it and just ahng in there.
How much do they weigh now??

Kim~ Glad the kids did so well at Oktoberfest. Your babies sound like mine with the helping kids out with their new toys. Mine like to sample everything anyone has be it food, toys, or space in general. :D I was going to tell you that my kids are on vitamins as well now. I started them at about 8 months on them because they ate so mcuh food and the nursing was less. I am thinking about switching from the liquid vitamin to a chewable one though?? Are yours on liquid or chews?

Have a great day moms!

Ok, how the heck do you keep your babies awake (or did you) I CAN NOT keep them awake after they eat and yes I change their diaper after they eat. They wake up before they eat for like 30 min then eat then pass out. So annoying. Plus they are not feeling well from their shots so are literally sleeping all day and I can not get them to wake up...hopefully this carries over to tonight because I am plum exhausted from last night.

Suga--I wish I had the book still, so I could figure out how to help you! I'm so sorry it was a rough night. I lent my book to a friend, so I'm purely going by memory. I do remember the 2 month shots really knocking my kids out for a day, so I would just erase today's schedule entirely....the shots make them sleepy, I think. Start fresh tomorrow. I didn't deal with the reflux, so I don't know what else you could have done last night...like Kholtan said, your girls are still young--are they full term yet? I don't think I even started Babywise until mine were a month old (and mine were born at 37 weeks). Just keep trying...keep trying to establish the routine. They WILL get it eventually. I hope you get some more sleep tonight! (As for the reflux, I saw these cool coasters you can put under the crib to help elevate one side---Onestepahead.com....might want to check it out?)

Kholtan--my kiddos are on Poly-visol vitamin drops by Enfamil. What are your twinks on? I can't imagine giving them chewables right now. I'd be afraid of choking--but I'm paranoid!

I had a rough night last night--Ellie was up 5 or 6 times! YIKES!!! Molars are coming in...which brings back the bad memories of the newborn nights! So, Suga, I could feel for you last night.

Buckeye I love you! haha and thanks for all the advice. I do have the crib wedges yet the girls move around so much they come off of them. So tonight I went and bought wedges that will not allow them to move. I was tired of trying to keep them in their boppies for 20 minutes cause I would have to stay awake to move them back to their cribs. They will be full term on the 8th so hopefully it will start to kick in more for them.

Good evening mommies! This will be short since my computer is acting funny and I ahte to type it twice and get nothing!

Suga~ Some things that kept my little ones awake were keeping them a bit less bundled, taking off their hats, playing with their feet and toes, playing silly kid music, dangling smalls toys above them and starting little games like peek-a-boo. Blowing on the very top of their head always made them perk up as well and moving their limbs while I sang songs like "head, shoulders, knees and toes." Just a few ideas. Since your babies should still be in the womb just try to take it a bit slower with them. They will let you know when they can handle it as well. You are getting closer so don't worry. Perhaps when they wake up start a feeding and try keep them up after that. It would reset your 3 hour schedule but maybe it could get you on track??? Keep trying!!!! Your doing great! Perisitance is the key. . and patience!

Kim~ Mine are on liguid drops as well as far as vitamins go. My little guy is a great chewer but I didn't even think about the choking thing. Annelise would most likely not be ready for that. :? Silly me! Sorry to hear Ellie was a night owl for ya. Annelise will sleep through it all. Teething doesn't phase her, shots are no problem, being a little off schedule is no big deal but Bodie is different. He's been great with shots as well but when he's teething his nose is bit stuffy sometimes and he hates it! Rarely will either one wake up but I can count on him for sure! Hopefully we have as much luck when the molars arrive!

What happened to Diane? Lauralou? Who else??

Hello ladies! Ok, I am going to start (here soon at least not today or tomorrow) feeding the girls at the same time. I was wondering if you had any tips on doing this. I am only going to do this during the day and at night let them wake themselves up when they are hungry and want to eat.

I was thinking just putting them up in their Boppies?? Then when they have to burp turn them on their side or tummy or something? I am kinda at a loss on how to feed them together. Mackenzie still does not fully have the suck swallow breathe thing down (getting better) so I really have to watch her.

Any advice and tips would be wonderful! Tell me how you did it please!

Ok, now that they are full term, can I just have their last feeding at 7:30 and let them wake up when they are hungry?? Or should I still do the three hour thing till 10:00 feeding then let that be the last feeding? At the 7:30 I still do the wake thing afterward and read/say prayers (even if they do fall asleep haha)

So after the 10 feeding can I let them sleep and wake up when they want to? Or can I start it at the 7:30? Just curious to know your thoughts. I think they weigh enough now that they can start to wake themselves up at night.

If I had not woken them up every three last night (reminder they had shots) then I would have gotten a lot of sleep! They did not want to wake up and eat.

Suga--I had a lot of trouble feeding mine at the same time early on...but I was bfing too, so that played a big role. Once they have more neck control, they should be able to be perched in their boppies and drink. I think a lot of twin mommies do that. When mine were about 3 months, I could set them both in their bouncy seats and feed them at the same time. Usually worked pretty well!

As for the last feed, I'd push it to 10....only because that will give you a better shot of getting a long stretch of sleep yourself. I don't know about you, but I was never ready to go to bed at 8:00....too much good TV on!  That's why I waited to do their last feed at 10....then, I would go to bed and get a decent stretch before their next wake up. But, that's just me!

Kholtan--I think we've lost Diane and Laura--haven't heard from them in months! I hope they check in.

Thanks Buckeye. Hopefully the Boppies will do the trick for a bit. It is killing me feeding them at different times because I have no time to do anything. I agree on the last feed lol...too much good tv on!! They do not move their necks too much so we shall see how this works. I may try it once today

Ok I noticed this the other day...I use Dr. Browns bottles for my twin girls. However, on the brown flow part on the inside I noticed mold growing. I wash wand wash and let it dry completely but there are some that still get the mold every time. This is so annoying and there is not real way to clean this part. Any one else experience this?? I thought this was supposed to be a great bottle to use...then why would parts mold?

Are you using the little brush to clean in the tube? I used Dr. Brown's for months....never had that problem. Can you run them through the dishwasher?

It is not inside the little hole where the brush fits...it is like on the outter ring on the inside. So I try to brush it as much as I can. I think I will have to run them through the dish washer more often or something...or else stop using those middle inserts or something.

Sorry...I misunderstood you. I never had mold on that brown part, but sometimes it got a little gunky from the formula. I did run those brown parts through the dishwasher every couple of days.

Should I get one of those microwave sterilizers? You think that would help? I am just tired of spending money on stuff like that!! lol.

ok what am I doing wrong!?!? I kept Mackenzie awake after her feed at 10AM then she got over stimulated and cried for like 30 minutes HARD! I only kept her awake for 15 minutes (if that!). Brooke did great...stayed awake 15 minutes then went to sleep. But I am tired that Mackenzie EVERY night at the 4AM feed does not want to go back to sleep. I did not set my alarm to see how long they would go without a feed...yeah they both still woke up every three hours. I think it is because they are not eating a whole lot. Also, Mackenzie falls asleep when she eats. She gets tired from eating. I do everything I can to keep her awake and make her eat more. She is my stubborn one! So she is only getting 2 oz every feed on average which leaves her hungry! I know she can eat more because she used to eat 100cc every 4 and sometimes with every three she will still eat 100cc. UGH.

I feel horrible as well, last night I got so annoyed that she fell asleep eating that I started to yell at her (not loud or anything...more of a strong talK) I felt like I was about to lose it! I was just so tired because she would not let me sleep more than 30 minutes. I had to apologize to her this morning.

Suga--Do you have the "newer" Dr. Brown's bottles? (The ones that don't have the BPA plastic in them?). If so, I'd say go for the sterilizer. If you have the old ones, then I wouldn't. The older ones (the only ones I had available) have BPA in them. It's a questionable chemical that's in many baby bottles these days. The BPA is supposed to be harmless, UNLESS it is heated to high temperatures (like in the microwave, dishwasher, etc.) That's why I always handwashed mine....I was too paranoid. If you do have the older ones, then I wouldn't get the sterilizer...I would just was the little brown parts (which don't have that BPA stuff) in the dishwasher every couple of days.

I'm sorry you had a rough time with Mackenzie again last night! it happens from time to time...especially when they're so young. I will admit, there were some nights, where I would bring Braeden into bed with me and just snuggle to sleep. I know it's a big NO NO...but we both needed sleep desperately. Hang in there, honey!
