Hey Carolyn...thanks buddy for checking on me again!!

The reports came back normal as I expected. The doc also scanned my tummy to see the baby...and there also everything was fine. I couldn't see much as it was nt that typical sonography machine and nothing was clear...just could see the baby moving a bit. I was ecstatic!!!

I am scheduled for a proper ANOMALY scan on 17th...two weeks fm now.
Any news fm prague yet? Nov is just round the corner so is ur holidays!!!

Lit - So happy that everything went well!!

Will write more later...hope all the other march mommies are also doing great!!!

Hi ladies!
I've missed you all. Sorry to have been missin in action. The daily work routine consumed me, and I've been running ramped.
It sounds like everyone is doing well, and I am relating to those sharp belly pains that some of you are having. I do remember them with my previous pregnancies, and all was well.
I went for my ultrascreen on Wednesday, and all appeared to be normal. I sometimes wonder if they would tell you right then if something was wrong or if they want your doctor to contact you. I couldn't believe how big the baby looked. I was able to see a clear profile, and it was amazing. My 9 y/o daughter was with me and she was so excited. It was wonderful.
My doc wants me to go for an amnio in my 16th week. Anyone else doing this? I've had one before, but it wasn't optional like this one is.
I'm also wondering if any of you are going to get the flu shot. My doctor recommends to get it, but I've never had one before, and I am so afraid of the side effects it can have on the baby. But, on the flip side, if you get the flu, and a high fever, you are equally in trouble. UGH decisions decisions.
Glad to hear you are all doing well.

Post by Literatriz »

Hi all,
midweek check-in...it seems that everyone is doing ok. Sonu, I wish you another normal exam in two weeks! Are you interested in knowing the gender of the baby?
Esperanza, I am saving a few funny stories about DH, me and the babies...just like your DH, mine is a bit ackward, with sprinkles of humor, which are big turn-offs for me. He doesn't know what to do, that is the truth. Two millenia of civilization separating maternity and sexuality cannot be eliminated in a few weeks. The problem is, we don't have much time - things we get pretty crowded around here :)
Babyloves, good luck on your tests...relax after. The world does need good educators but it does need good parents, too...
Alreadyblessed, I am sure your doctor has discussed the riks of amnio with you. There may be factors that he/she is considering (you've lost a baby, age, family history, etc). What doesnt hurt is trying to get the doctor's "reputation" via asking friends who know other doctors. Some doctors are 100% for or against amnio - in that case you may consider a second opinion. I am a bit confused by amnio...because DH and I could not deal with the psychological trauma of the decision of eliminating atypical fetuses. So, that did it for us. As you said, this is SO personal...I hope you find a way of feeling comfortable with your decision.
Hope all Marchmommies are doing well :), take care, Literatriz

Hi Ladies,
Sorry to be away for sometime. This economic crisis seems to have effected my family the most. My brother lost his job. My dh is also in very tight situation and now since I am also not working, I am stressed out what will happens if he doesn't have any job. Moreover, last week I tripped over and in order to save my belly, injured my hand and leg. The elbow and wrist got sprained badly and I was unable to do anything, not even hold a pen. Now I am much better at least able to send you a post. I hope everybody is doing fine. I am eager to have some actions from inside. I would like to know what is the feeling of flutter like? Sometimes I get worried whether everything is ok and don't know how to tell as at this moment we don't want to rent a doppler. Will do personals later!

Hey Annie

I am so sorry about your condition but you seem to be doing alright after all that nasty fall. Thank God that everything is alright!! You take your time to heal, we are here only.
Economic crisis is hitting thw whole world I guess. The condition is not great here as well. I just pray that its the end of the road and things take reverse turn from here.

I still haven't experienced any string movements yet but the flutters have become distinct and more frequent now. But somedays I don't feel anything for hours, I guess thats normal. I usually have a glass of milk and then lie down to be connected with my baby. The communication is best then.
Take care. You are in my thoughts.

Hi Literatiz

I cannot find out sex of the baby in India as it is illegal here.
But if given a choice I wouldn't have...I like surprises better, As it is, we don't shop anything for the baby before the birth. It is jinxed in my family and I am toooo scared to be a rebel. Only the bare minimum things will be done before and the rest of the shopping in haste after the baby comes....!!! :)

Good to see u doing great!!

Hi dear

Its so exciting to hear about your baby news. Don't worry these people are very professional and they have to share whatever checkups they do. And don't worry everything will be fine, I can understand the anxiety...but just realx and wish for everything to be fine and perfect.

As I said before I couldn't see the baby clearly in my 17h week checkup, but the calmness on the face of my doc told me the story. I am convinced my baby is doing great. I already had test for different trisomys..if one fails in this test then only one has to for amino test.

Take care.

Sonu,
Thanks for your support. Yes, I am much better now though still some pain is there while I try to fold my hand or my palm. I know in India you can't check the sex of the baby but in a way you must be very excited when you deliver. I would like to know how is this feeling of flutter. I sometimes can hear or rather say feel some rumbling sound inside in my lower abdomen specially when I have eaten something . I don't know whether it is my food digesting or the baby. Earlier my stomach never use to make sound, so it gets weird the way it feels now. I heard you guys are having a festival during this time and should be very busy. We have our Halloween during the end of the month. I think rest of our march mommies are taking it easy. Take care and I see you are going to reach your 20 weeks mark within 2 weeks, congrats!

Hello to all the march moms-to-be!

I just wanted to warn you all that I will be lurking on your thread. I need to keep checking on my girl Esperanza. I notice a few other familiar names that might be from our original dec/jan thread over on the ivf boards. I just wanted to say that I am so happy for all of you and I hope you are enjoying your journey so far.

I was blessed with my beautiful bundle via c-section on August 26th. If there are ever any questions I might be able to answer, I would be happy to.

Congratulations to you all...and I will be around again...

I'd like to join in also. CT and I were Sept Bump buds and I delivered a beautiful little girl named Michaela on September 19th 2008. Esperanza was my 2 ww bud from the Dec/Jan 08 thread and I promised that I would be with her during this wonderful journey. (Our kids will be college roomies if you guys didn't already know).

I'm hoping to gain new friends through this thread also. If you ladies have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm no pro but I went through just about everything with my pregnancy so I might be able to help out and answer many of your questions.

Good luck to all of you wonderful ladies and congrats!!!

Esperanza - I love you dear girl.

Hello my dears!

This is the reason why I love this forum so much. You really get to bond with people! Thank you WashingtonDA and CT_Michelle for stopping by, it means A LOT to me. Love you girls!

I went for my 14 weeks check up yesterday and everything is looking lovely! :D
We got to hear the heartbeat through the doppler...it was so exciting. My only regret is not having a camera to take a picture of DH's face. hahahahhha! He jumped off his chair, open his mouth, and kept looking at the doppler with amazement....too cute, and super funny  I'm going back in 4 weeks. Our midwife gave us some "homework." She asked us to read a chapter from a book she gave us that discusses different tests. She said that we need to think about it, and we are going to discuss them during our next appointment. I'm a bit nervous about those :? we'll see. The most exciting part is that we get to have an u/s next time to check the baby's anatomy. I'm SO looking forward to that. We had decided not to find out the sex of the baby until birth, but DH was so happy yesterday that he almost changed his mind. I asked him to wait, we still have 4 weeks to go!

ALREADYBLESSED: how cool that your daughter was there to see her little sibling! sounds lovely :) I'm glad everything is going well. About the amnio, I'm not doing it. It's a personal choice for me (for various reasons).About the flu shot, I haven't even thought about it. My midwife hasn't said anything. I've never gotten a flu shot either, so I don't know what I would decide if she asked me to get one. Have you made up your mind?

AMAZU--honey, I'm sorry to hear about your fall. Sounds scary :? I'm glad to hear that you're doing better and that the baby is fine. Please take good care of yourself. I'm sending you healing thoughts. About the economy, yes, it is awful and scary. I certainly hope your dh doesn't loose his job, and that your brother finds one quickly. It's so sad that with this big crisis the big shot guys that need to be held accountable seem to be getting away with everything; meanwhile it's us paying the consequences. Thinking of you.

LITERATRIZ--hi hon! I know what you mean about sexuality and maternity...can you believe that DH and I have not "done" it again since that day? hahahaha! on the one hand sometimes I feel crapy and tired and all I want is sleep (if he was up to it during the day, I would definitely get into it!), and on the other, he hasn't even tried anymore...I think he's scared! He keeps rubbing my belly, and after listening to the heartbeat yesterday, who knows if he's going to touch me again while I'm preggo...hehehehe, we'll see!

SONU--I'm so happy you had fun seeing the baby at your last scan. Is so exciting to see our little ones, even if it's just for a little bit :) I always look up for your stories because you are ahead of us. Thank you for sharing so much good information. Did they tell you in your scan if the placenta had changed location? are you allowed to move around more?

I think it's interesting what you said about shopping. To be honest, that makes sense to me. After I loss my first pregnancy I decided that I would not buy anything until after the baby was born (whenever I got pregnant again), I even said that I would have my baby shower AFTER the baby was born. Now, after 2+ years of that experience I feel a little different and I think I could have my shower and do the shopping before, BUT all of that seems so faraway to me that I'm not putting too much thought into it yet.

Ok Lovelies, I hope I didn't miss anyone. Sending all March-April mommies LOTS of love and great vibes. Grow bellies, grow

hi everyone...i'm done with my big test, it was quite difficult, but i'm glad its over..i have a month off before i have to start working which will be interesting given my new big belly...i need to get some professional looking clothes for work.

Our next u/s is 10/16, but we got impatient after my exam, and as a treat went to do our own u/s...my DH is a doc too, and knows how to operate an U/s machine :). We saw the babies' HB quickly, they were both moving, and then stopped quickly in case the US has a different frequency than the baby one...too frequent ones are not good either i've heard, but we couldn't help it :D

Welcome washington DA, CT_michelle..
How's everyone else?
Esperanza: yeah, i feel that i'm not ready to shop quite yet either, and i think finding the sex really puts things in perspective and makes shopping easier...we're started calling them by names already...so we'll have to see if our guesses are correct :)

amazu: ur fall sounds painful and scary...glad ur feeling better. are u doing anything special for halloween...i think i'll finally be home (not at work) to give out candy. Can u imagine when we have our kids - all the cute little costumes :D

sonu: sounds like your doing great...it's hard to know for us first time mommies what movement feels like...i feel occas fleeting cramps and flutters...i don't know if that's the babies

already blessed and literatriz: my doc never mentioned amnio as something that's needed, he said the risks of m/s from the procedure is higher than my risk of having a genetic defect...i know there an age factor (under and over 35)...plus if the NT scan which is non-invasive can do the same thing...why do amnio/CVS? Anyway..there is someone on the pg after treatment thread who went into preterm labor at 19 wks after an amnio...so scary, big decision

anyone of you told by ur Ob's to not sleep on ur back yet? ALso, how much milk are you drinking? I don't like the taste of milk...Just wondering..okay, i'm going to try to find a yoga class now. :)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

children of 1929

Post by Literatriz »

Hi all,
Hope all is well with our march mommies. I read the last postings and it was a great relief to see that our babies are not kicking yet. I was really worried because two weeks ago I was feeling like my lower belly was a fishbow (flurries?) but now the uterus is higher, free in the abdominal cavity and I don't feel as much :( thought that there was something wrong. But most of you are still in the quiet time...so it must be the way Nature expects it to be. I won't panick for now - thanks!
Most of us are feeling the crisis, Amazu got if harder! Hope things get better soon. If not, let's remember the lessons of the big depression of 1929. Passed the shock, the people who resisted had children - and these children are the ones who rebuilt America. So we may need to teach our babies to shop less, to save more, to rely on others more...to invent new solutions for the old survival problems. My husband and I have talked about it. Worse comes to worse, we may change the ways to survive (I could open a therapeutic foster home, or we could go bo another country to teach English...things like that) and even share our home with another family. I was very poor when I was a kid and to tell you the truth, that has made me a bit more anxious (I am always looking for signs of crisis) but also more creative and optimistic. I wish you and DH find ways of maitaining wisdom and calm during these stormy times.
Sonu, good luck on your check up on the 17th!
Esperanza, I didn't know the placenta could move! Congrats on your normal check-up. I love the idea of having the baby shower after. Would that be considered not very American? (I am from Brazil). In regards to romance...I turned the lights off and try not to let the belly be in the way - it worked!
Babyloves, good luck on you u/s on 10/16! I don't like milk either - so smoothies are a life savers. I use the small mixes, so I don't need to wash the blender, but it only works if I let the frozen fruits thaw a few minute before making the smoothie. Soy milk is not bad and it nourishes the same. I will start yoga on 10/22; never did it before... You raise a very important question: if we know the genders, we give the baby a name/s - and that creates a big attachment. I think I am a bit afraid of loosing one of them, that may explain why I have been reluctant to know their genders. Will think about it!
Hope everyone is doing well, including the new babies of Esperanza's buddies :)
have a nice weekend, Literatriz

Hi Ladies,
Washingtoda and CT_Michelle - Thanks for joining. We surely will have lot of questions and would love to have some experienced ladies in this board who recently had a baby. Most of my friends had their babies 2-3 yrs back and don't remember the details much.

My march mommies, thank you so much for your such kind and loving words. I really got emotional reading them. Since I still have some pain in my left hand, I have to type with only one hand so being little short and no personals, sorry. I was also told that amino is only considered if there is any problem in NT scan otherwise not required. Abt sex, since we were very active in our last one and after losing the baby, my dh is very scared. Even if I try to fool with him, he will stop me. He also likes to rub my belly and try to feel the baby. I keep telling him that we still have few weeks to waitt. Have you ladies gained any weight?
It is great that you got to hear the HB, babyloves. Good to be a dr and have a dr dh. :) I also haven't started thinking abt shopping and will wait till the 3rd trimester, may be 9th month. I am really afraid of getting jinxed.Already I am getting into something or other.Who do you think will be a better president? We really need a change, what do you think?

LITERATRIZ--you're from Brazil!!! todo bien? hahahah, I'm from Venezuela (from the northern part, on the Caribbean coast), but I still feel a strong connection with Brazilians. Which part of Brazil are you from? I've never been there, but dh has and he LOVED it. I'd like to go to Bahia so badly. There's a conference next year that dh and I were going to use as an excuse to go, but now that the baby is coming we really doubt it. Oh, well, there will always be a next time! By the way, I've been thinking about what you said about exposing our nipples to the sun...I'd love to do it, but I'm trying to find an angle in my house where neighbors won't accuse me of sexual harrassment ;)

AMAZU-- I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, it's ok if you can't write personals, it means a lot you're still trying to keep in touch, so thank you for taking the time to type with one hand. so, yeap, I guess you and I will be sex deprived for a while, hehehehe. I agree with you, we do need a change, not only in this country, but in the entire world. I like what Literatriz proposed it sounds more humanistic and sustainable. We need to educate our children to be more socially and environmentally aware. We only have one planet!

BABYLOVES--congrats on being done with the test! I'm supposed to be writing a paper now...but, oh well, all I can think of is "baby." ;) that's really cool that you have named the babies already! what do you think you're having? I've had the feeling for the past week that I'm carrying a boy...don't ask me why, just a gut.
I haven't been told not to sleep on my back yet. I do like (cow) milk, but dh and I only buy soy milk. To be honest I don't drink that much of it (maybe a cup a day?), but I do consume cheese, lots of yogurt (yammy!), and ice cream every now and then  Ah, I also eat broccoli which has a lot of calcium.

I have gained some weight, but not terribly (it's noticeable though), during this last visit I had gained 2.5 pounds in 4 weeks. My midwife said that I was right on target (not too much, not too little).

Like all of you, I can't wait to start feeling my baby's movement...aaahhhh, it's going to be so sweet!
