Thanks for the advice again Buckeye. I have some of the older and some of the newer. For some reason when I first bought the bottles they only had the older. I am transitioning to the new ones because I know all the bad things about the BPA.
Anywhoo, can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong? I have read the Baby Wise AGAIN and found a blogger that does it and has a lot of followers
Anyways, The girls are eating every three hours even at night. I do not have to wake them up to eat. They wake up on their own right at three hours ready to eat. I have to heat up the bottles so it does take a few minutes before I can feed them; thus they are not eating right away so they are awake for a little bit. Then I feed them. It takes about 30 minutes to feed both (I am now doing it at the same time). Then comes wake time...after they eat they are almost impossible to keep awake. So if I get a good 5 minutes from them I take it and let them go to sleep. So really they have no set nap time after they eat. Then they sleep till they wake up to eat at the three hour mark. At times, they stay awake the whole nap time and cry almost the whole time. No idea why they do this sometimes.
So is it normal for them to still be waking up every three hours to eat? Normal for them to still want to sleep a lot? Am I doing this schedule wrong? I read about other people and how they had such an easy time with it and their babies were superheros and just slept through the night almost right away with the 10-11PM sleep feed thing (dream feed I think it is called). I really hope it starts to get better and they start staying awake after they eat. Brooke is mostly fine at night and still sleeps really well only waking up to eat then goes right back to bed. Mackenzie at 4AM wants to stay awake and play but I just put her in her crib and let her cry (took two hours last night!!)
I am almost to the point to just let them sleep after they eat and play when they wake up to eat and have wake time then. I know this gets them in the habit of needing a bottle to go to sleep but I think that would be an easier habit to break later down the road then putting up with this stuff.

Suga--I'd avoid the bottle-to-sleep habit at all costs.....it's MUCH harder to break habits when they're older and have developed their stubborn streaks. Do you help Mackenzie soothe herself to sleep at all at the 4 am feed? Try swaddling her, rocking her, or giving her a paci....does that help at all? She's learning how to self soothe right now. It's something some babies have a harder time learning than others.
But hey, if you need a few nights of bottle-to-sleep, I wouldn't stress about it. I just would try to avoid making it a habit. But that's just me.
Ok, so I do not know how this happened BUT Mackenzie went right back to sleep at 4AM FEED!! Yesterday she kinda stayed awake after her feeds (kinda like 15 minutes or so) and then took her nap...she cried at one of em I forget which one. So it was nice last night they both ate and went back to bed! I got 6 hours of sleep! WOOHOO!!!
They are in there crying right now as they are going to take their nap. They only cry for a minute...stop....cry again for a minute...etc. They have their eyes closed so I know nothing is wrong. Plus when there is they scream their heads off. So I suppose this is just them crying in and out of going to sleep. I think they have learned that mommy will not pick me up unless something is wrong. So I think *knock on wood* this may be a road to recovery if all goes well today. They like when I sing to them during awake time so we will do that till they get bored of it.
I am just going to have to buy new parts to the Dr. Browns where it is molding...just the brown part. I put them in the dishwasher right now though so we will see if that helps any.
My mom, Grandma, and sister will be here on Sunday for a few days so that will be nice. My mom said that one night she would let me sleep and do all the work. I think she will regret saying that here soon! haha
I can not wait for Halloween!! I want to put them in their little outfits! And it is sad to report (well on a good note anyways) they no longer fit in preemies whatsoever! They are both in newborns. Some of the newborn is still a little big but they have graduated! Now if I can just get them to eat more than 3 oz at a feed!

I did not know what to do with myself when I woke up with energy! haha. I mean it was not 6 hours straight but after they ate I got a good 2 hours before they woke up to eat again. It was wonderful! I do not know why, but the 1:00 nap they fight like heck. They cry like wild women! I feel bad for them but I know they are tired because they usually wake up early before their feed and are awake for awhile. Hopefully here soon they will get it. (or at least get tired of crying and just lie there).

Well, I think it is time to make the girls stay awake longer after they eat, I have only been doing 15-30 minutes (usually not 30). Well, they are both waking up like 45 minutes early from their nap. So, I am going to make them stay awake for 30-45 minutes to see how that goes. Brooke is for sure ready to be awake longer cause she is wide awake after she eat. Mackenzie is a little harder to keep awake but it is possible now. She is sitting on my lap now and lunch is 45 minutes away! Just looking around! (Lifting her head I might add!!!)
Anyways, supposed to get their RSV shots today as well as Mackenzie get her blood work for billi reuben (sp). She still has a little jaundice.

SO I read up on Baby Wise...you are not supposed to increase their awake time if they keep waking up early, you are supposed to shorten it! So I will only make them be awake for 15 minutes. We will see if this works. How long are they supposed to sleep anyways? The whole hour and a half?

Kholtan: HAVE FUN FOR ME!!! I am jealous! Travel safely!!!
Mom, grandma, and my sister are in town and we have been go go go! But I will keep it short...Brooke had to go to the doctor yesterday and they sent her to the hospital. After she ate she would just have projectile vomits. So all in all, after the tests this morning, she has HORRIBLE reflux. When they were looking at her drink as soon as she got something in her belly it would try to come right back up. So there is nothing you can really do but they will outgrow it. At least that is all it is...nothing wrong with the tummy or intestines. Mackenzie has it a little but not as bad. Baby Wise was thrown out the window these past few days because of the vomiting and what not. So I have to start the schedule all over again. They are acting like newborns now though and stay awake after they eat! So I know they are ready to start somewhat of a schedule now that they are older. I also am joining a twins club here in Tallahassee so that will be nice. Anywhoo I have to go, they get their RSV shot here in a bit.

Well, the girls had their follow up eye doctor appt. They both passed so there is nothing wrong with their eyes! However, their appointment was at 2:30 and we were not seen till 4:00!!!! So they dilated their eyes then made us sit in another waiting room so I had to feed the girls. I only had enough in there for one so had to split the bottle. I was not anticipating being there long enough to go into their feed time. *sigh* So they will be starving at their 7PM feeding. Bath time tonight because they both spit up all over themselves.
Brooke got a blessing from Elder Newman and seems to be doing better with her reflux. I should have had them do one to Kenzie as well because hers was acting up today instead of Brookes! lol. Oh well.
Anywhoo, I was feeding them in the waiting room. Had them both in their car seats and feeding them at the same time. Well I was about to burp them both and was going to just do it at the same time. So took them both up into my arms. Well I was about to get Mackenzie and some lady just comes and picks her up out of her car seat and hands her to me! HELLO!!! I can do it myslf!!! Get your nasty hands off my girl! Why on earth would you touch someone else's child without asking?!?! This just made me beside myself. I was so surprised I did not even know what to say...WHO does that!? Made me mad because of all the germs they were already being exposed to at the doctor office *sigh* Stupid people. DO NOT touch my babies!

Glad the eyes are okay, Suga! Sorry to hear about the wait. That's crazy! They shouldn't have made little twins wait that long. Oh, that lady was out of line! I would have had to restrain myself, or I might have hauled off on that lady! Yikes!
I am back to work and everything is starting to settle down. I am sleep deprived, but my twins are doing fine with their nanny and Sean is happy to go back to his daycare. It's going to be interesting though because my DH is going on a business trip the whole week next week again. I have to everything by myself and still wake up at 4:50 am. We'll see how it goes!
Kimberly, hope you are having a good time in Calif. I used to live in northern calif. It's still nice and warm there so you all can work on a tan that last through winter!
Suga, she should have asked you if you needed help! Boy! I know they don't mean any harm but I am a germ freak myeslf, so I get very annoyed when people touch my babies, especially their hands and face. I am glad their eyes are better. I need to take Alyson to see if she has stigmatism.
buckeye, how is work? Juggling work and babies aren't too bad for me. Well, I can say that because my babies are just staircase up. At toddler aga, it's fun for them to interact with other kids. I am sure Ellie and Braeden are having fun.
How is everyone else? I haven't been on here for a while.
Oh, my pregnancy is going well. I am so busy, sometimes I forget that I am pregnant. But my belly is very big already. My OB says it's because I had twins not so long ago. My uterus gets bigger quickly and my stomach muscle is very expandable. But everywhere else, I look skinnier. I am busy and I don't eat very much. So different from my twin pregnancy. Eating was my job back then.
Anyway, sorry didn't meant to write so much about me.
Hope everything is going well with our pregnant Mommies. Maybe, I will join the May thread in the pregnancy section. That way I get to enjoy more.
Take care!
Kimi

Natural Pregnancy!! Baby due May 09!
tolbee: I forgot that you were preggers! Is it just a singleton this time? And it was natural right?? I am probably going to go off birth control after 6 months and let things happen if they happen. If not, we have two frozen that need to be put in!! I can not imagine working with twins lol. I do not get enough sleep at night to function at a normal job during the day!

Tolbee--Juggling work and babies usually goes fine. We've got it down to a science by now. I've been doing it for over a year. Plus, I only work part time, so my kids don't mind a few days at the sitters. Did I understand you right that you work downstairs and your twins are upstairs at daycare? If so, that's nice....so you can drop in from time to time! Glad your pregnancy is going so well. How far along are you? I give you kudos...I can't IMAGINE having another one right now! My two are more than a handful these days! Hope Alyson's eye is okay. My sister has the same issue. It was hard on her as a kid, but she's fine now...just wears contacts (like most people, I guess!).
My kiddos have NASTY colds this week. Argh! Boogers everywhere. And Ellie has developed a cough that keeps her (and I) up all night. I might have to take her to the pedi tomorrow. I thought she was getting better, but later today it got bad again. Go figure--right before the weekend!
I think Mackenzie has colic. No joke. I have to talk to the pedi. on Monday. So reflux in both and colic with Kenzie. *sigh* I have looked up everything on it and she is the typical colic baby. Same time every night cries, nothing helps her NOTHING, rocking and being on tummy help a lot. Literally every night from 8pm-1am it is a cry fest. I am about to lose my mind.
