Ice crystals, or else the measures taken to prevent ice crystals.
If ice crystals form, it can destroy the cells in the embryo. If too many cells are destroyed, the embryo will die.
Embryologists go to great lengths to prevent ice crystals from forming in frozen embryos. But this is imperfect. They use cryoprotectants that prevent ice crystal formation, but these chemicals are embryo toxic. So the balance is to minimize exposure to the cryoprotectants that can kill the embryo, but still allow enough time to allow the cryoprotectants to penetrate into all the cells in the embryo. Too much time, and the embryo is poisoned. Too little time and the ice crystals will kill the embryo. The time window is narrow, and embryos vary in rate of absorption.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
